This is my third time coming here. The ingredients are as fresh as always, the food is delicious, and the service is excellent. I'll definitely come back again next time!!!

Dropped in for Sunday dinner, no reservations, seated immediately, The hot sour soup large portion and spicy. Seafood in eight previous gem tofu clay pot was tender and delicious.

I was craving some Chinese food during the Mt. Art and Wine Festival. All my friends were on board. So we ended up here, and it did not disappoint! We decided on Family Combo C for four people for $138 which included: ~ Lobster with Ginger & Scallions ~ Dried Scallop & Egg White Fried Rice ~ Stir Fried Fish with Seasonal Veggies ~ Honey Walnut Prawns ~ Half a Peking Duck I enjoyed every dish. I have to say there's been better Peking Duck out there with crispier skin and the Honey Walnut Prawns without the fried outer and lighter sauce. The fried rice was very good, loved the tasty fish and vegetables, and the flavorful lobster. The lobster can get messy though. The service was friendly and attentive. This is a no frills Cantonese style Chinese restaurant. I left satisfied with some delicious leftovers! The dim sum menu looks good too. So, I'll have to return to give it a try!

This is our family go-to restaurant for good Chinese food when you desire to eat out with your family. My 89 year old mom, her 90 year old sister, and my two cousins came here recently for dinner, I've also come here with my mom and brother as well. The restaurant is centrally located on Castro Street in Mountain View. We generally like to order the family meals for three or four people, plus add a soup such as fish maul soup, the family dinners may come with dishes such as lobster, honey walnut shrimp, fish with vegetables, etc. The quality of food is high, the food is tasty, and when we got a chance to chat with the owner, she'd days that she pays a high price for the chef. The chef is a terrific chef, must have trained in Hong Kong, because every dish is quite tasty with good presentation. The interior of the restaurant is quite good, it has been renovated and a vast improvement from the decor from a few decades ago. One of the waiters has recently retried after 35 years! Patronize this restaurant for lunch or dinner, it's a good place to meet up with your friends, coworkers or family, you're allowed to linger with tea and talk, which is great if you're trying to catch up on the latest family news. You can come here for a date. There's plenty of parking on the back of the restaurant, or on the surrounding streets. Definitely try to come here for a delicious meal with your loved ones, you won't be disappointed!

Had their Honey Walnut Prawns, Pan Fried Noodles and Steamed Flounder. Love the Honey Walnut Prawns! The y drizzle then sweet mayo cream sauce but what elevated this dish to the next level is the mustard in the mayo sauce. The mustard's slightly sour spice balanced the sweetness of the cream. Lots of candied walnuts. Crispy batter coating on the prawns without being crunchy hard. Good portion. The Pan Fried Noodles had shrimp, scallop, BBQ pork, chicken and beef with some bakchoy and carrots. Great ingredients. Crispy fried noodles. The sauce was a bit watery so it needed some soy sauce. The Steamed Flounder was ok. It's available as fried also. It had an aftertaste to it and a bit gummy texture. Sauce was also a bit bland. All 3 cost $70 after tax, before tip. Food came out at different time, about 10 min apart from each other. They had a small menu. The staff said it's because they're redoing the menu.

We headed over to Kirin with a big party on a weekday at noon and Kirin was able to quickly accommodate the party. At first, the menu seemed overwhelming with all the choices we were offered. But it felt like all options were good options. We ordered both from the big menu as well as the DimSum menu and everything came out quickly and was delicious. All of our dishes were big portioned and we struggled to finish our food. We even ordered Peking Duck and it came out super quick. Staff was nice and quick to respond whenever our table needed anything. Overall a good choice if you want a quick lunch for a small group or a big group. Price was quite reasonable as well, will definitely come back.

Kirin has been here forever, our first time after a very long break. Four of us came for lunch on a Sunday, glad to see the restaurant had been remodeled with a brighter, cleaner and more pleasant interior. When arrived at noon, the place was almost empty; it did fill up nicely later on. We decided to order a small set menu plus a couple of more dishes to share. The set of 3 for $55 consisted of Walnut prawns, Steamed chicken and garlic yu-choy, all three dishes were fresh, tasty and served in good portions. Prawns were of good sizes, served piping hot. Coatings were heavier than I'd preferred. Chicken and the greens were both very enjoyable. BTW, we compared the price of a set to individual order total, there is only a $1 saving by doing the set... Hubby was happy to satisfy his craving of S/S pork, fried rice was decent too. The chrysanthemum tea was very light; I believe $1.5 pp is charged for tea which is quite reasonable. Service was polite and responsive. Overall we were quite happy about the rediscovery of Kirin, will come back next time to try the fresh seafood, roast duck and perhaps some dim sum items too.

What a hidden gem find for Chinese cuisine! Plenty of parking and the menu is extensive. Food was fantastic and well portioned. I love the feeling of the homey sit down restaurants with the lazy susan tables. It makes sharing food so much easier in larger groups. All the food was so fresh with tons of flavor. Everything that came out looked incredibly appetizing. Some of our favorites were the fried rice, the sizzling beef, and the lobster. Everyone who worked there was very inviting, nice, and made sure to check in on us. Service was prompt, and food came out in a timely manner. I've been looking for a new goto restaurant for my family ever since the downtown SJ staple Bo Town closed years ago, and this might just be the winner, finally! We'll have to come back to try out their other dishes!

I had a very nice dinner here. We came on Superbowl Sunday, so I believe the restaurant was much less busy than usual. We had a group of 6, and they have several tables suitable for large groups. There is a pretty large menu, and several items seem to be easily veganized. I think some of the vegetable dishes have oyster sauce (possibly other non-vegan sauces but I didn't ask) but I asked our waitress if the braised tofu and broccoli could be prepared without oyster sauce and she said yes. I was also able to order a vegetable fried rice without egg. Our table also ordered a few meat dishes and a soup, and all of us really enjoyed the food. The servers are nice and attentive, though they seemed pretty busy. I was told this place is sort of iconic because it has been around for a long time, and it is a favorite of my dad's Chinese friends that live here.

The Peking duck with bao buns was a great value at $50 for a whole duck and tasted delicious. My favorite dish was the shrimp paste with crab claws--it was perfectly balanced, juicy, flavorful, and crispy. Overall, everything we ordered was good. The only dish that was just okay was the char siu. My niece actually wanted the roasted pork but accidentally ordered the char siu instead. It wasn't bad, just not as memorable as the rest of the meal. The staff was friendly and responsive. We were able to wave down our waiter whenever we needed water refills or to-go containers, and they were quick to help. Overall, this is a solid spot that delivers on both food and service. I'd definitely come back.

Instead of asking how he could help me, the host immediately assumed I had already placed a to-go order and asked for my phone number. I explained that I had not ordered yet and was hoping to place an order. When I asked about ordering dim sum, he abruptly told me they only serve it during lunch. I then asked to see a menu, but he never provided one. I also asked for recommendations or suggestions for similar dishes, but he offered no alternatives and made no effort to help me find something else I might enjoy. The entire interaction felt rushed, dismissive, and unwelcoming. If dim sum is only available during lunch, that should be made clear. I drove here specifically because of the positive reviews, expecting good food and good service. Unfortunately, the customer service was so poor that I left without ordering anything. A little patience, communication, and willingness to help would have made all the difference.

Service was really good (better than average Cantonese restaurant lol). The place was not busy probably due to a weekday. We ordered the usuals for Cantonese, and were generally happy about the food quality. Parking: there's some street parking, but it can be rough. There is a parking lot nearby. During peak times or weekends, it can be hard to find parking. Pricing: Pricing is average/very reasonable for the area, but may seem slightly higher if you're used to dim sum in other areas (but hey, rent must be expensive). Food: Food is typical dim sum food. It's good and traditional rather than the super fresh or high-end dim sum places-more of a "get your dim sum fix place. It's not the healthiest and some dishes can be a bit bland; you might get tired of some of the more filling dishes. Atmosphere: The restaurant is nice and clean, but nothing fancy. It is a no frill place, but well-kept and not cluttered like some other places.

Anyway, we were shopping in the area and decided to stop by for a dim sum lunch. The restaurant was not very busy so we got seated right away. We placed our order via the order sheet. No carts since it was a weekeday. We had our usual Char Siew bun (steamed), Soy sauce Chow Mein, Chinese donut rolled in soft noodles, pan fried chive dumplings, Lo Mai Kai (steamed rice in lotus leaves), stuffed peppers, and sesame balls. This is one of the few dim sum restaurants that serve the stuffed peppers. Food was generally good. I love the hot sauce they have at the table. We literally devoured it! I had forgotten how delicious the stuffed peppers were - they still taste great! Steamed Char Siew bun was a little disappointing - too much bun (bao) and not enough filling. The char siew was also rather tough and tasted rather bland. The chinese donut in steam noodles was good and the chow Mein was tasty. Sesame balls (my favorite dim sum dessert) was not too bad. could have been better if it was warmer. Service was OK.
