I liked the favor of the fish fillet but it needed a pinch of salt. The shredded potato tasted a bit sugary instead of the typical vinegar taste! Went here because I was craving Sichuan food, knowing it's the secondary cuisine, along with some friends who don't eat spicy food, lol. So didn't really give this place a fair shot, but it was decent nonetheless, if not mind-blowing. We got celtuce (great), braised pork belly (pretty good although not my usual pick so hard to judge), and water boiled fish. The fish was surprisingly more numbing than spicy, which I enjoyed; but it randomly contained tofu, which seemed to be used to bulk out the dish so that less fish was used, and the traditional cabbage wasn't very flavorful. Also note, you order via QR code and at least some of the waitstaff only speak Chinese. I'm sure there is always someone in the restaurant who speaks English if needed, though; this is Mountain View, not San Jose. read more

Right off Ranch 99, represents two related spicy cuisines of China, Hunan and Sichuan. The place is nice and bright, staff is very sweet and attentive. The food I'm guessing is Hunan primary, Sichuan secondary. The hot pepper chicken was perfect, crunchy and fragrant. The wax meat dish was well done. Sautéed cabbage was wonderful. I drove 50 minutes round-trip to get food from here based on the reviews. It was a major disappointment, sadly. The egg pancake was decent. But $20 for a small "omelet" which is slightly better than what I make at home, was a bit much. That by itself would have been ok, but what the heck was up with the orange chicken??? It was SUPER dry and chewy, just plain nasty. I had one other person try it, and their reaction after they spat it out was..."is that really chicken?" Came on a Friday evening and it was busy but not packed, which meant that we got seated right away. This was our first time here and saw it when we were at Ranch 99 so decided to stop by and try it. Their ordering is all online through QR code and ours looked to be broken so we had to scan at the table next to us and let the waiter know what happened, hopefully they fix it soon! My spouse was happy to see the eggplant dish so we had to order that along with the tofu with century egg and the stone pot dish. The restaurant really lives up to its name and was definitely spicy, which is rare in SV. We ended up needing to order rice and drinks to help with the heat. Overall it was a good experience, even if the inside of the restaurant was a bit plain looking. Would like to come back and try some other dishes to see how they are. read more

My fiance and I stopped by for dinner on a hot summer day. The restaurant was decently busy, but service was fast. Ordering is via QR code, but they provide wifi and paper menu as well. Restaurant has a homey vibe, in the sense that the owner(or manager??) walks around to chat with you and let you know you can customize your order. He wasn't there when we ordered though, so we missed our chance/encouragement to ask for the food to be spicy. Although, I would expect the default to be extra spicy already since it's a Szechuan restaurant. The service from all the employees was great as well. Either they're a family restaurant (so everyone's personally invested in providing great service), or they trained everyone well. Water was constantly refilled. They introduce the dishes. They're attentive, etc. Two of our items (snow pea leaves and spicy pork intestines) came within 5 minutes of placing the order. The third item (chongqing spicy chicken) was fried so it took longer. We decided to add on the steamed egg after seeing how yummy it looked on our neighboring table. That one took about 20 minutes to make. Snow pea leaves with salted egg yolk = it was on the chef recommended tab, I do like it. The salted egg yolk taste was subtle and pairs well with the garlic. This dish helped balance out the saltiness from the other dishes. Spicy pork intestine = not spicy at all, and very salty. I had to ask for extra chili oil (the extra chili oil was very flavorful, but not very spicy either). We were told to add in a special request for it to be made extra spicy next time. Apparently many of their customers prefer no spicy...Half of the customers in that restaurant asked for mild/no spicy in their dish on the evening we were there. Chongqing spicy chicken = not really spicy either. Seasoning was a bit mild, but it was not bad. Steamed Egg = the minced meat was very salty, so don't take a huge spoonful of it. I do like how it tastes with the steamed egg though. This dish was absolutely worth the wait. It was the SOFTEST and SMOOTHEST steamed egg I've ever had. I'm already biased for steamed egg, and don't think we can really go wrong with it unless the seasoning is bad, but this was amazing. Price-wise, I'd say they're on the higher side, but their portions were huge, so it doesn't feel overpriced. read more

The wait staff here were so nice! My waitress didn't speak English but used Google translate with me to make sure I was able to find items on the menu I could eat. I appreciated that so much. Some vegetarian things on the menu: cold Sichuan bamboo, egg omelette with sticky rice cake, fresh tofu. There were a few other items but I didn't try them. Everything came out quickly. Cozy chinese restaurant tucked away in a shopping plaza! Service was outstanding with staff checking in on us (not in an overbearing sense). I believe the manager/owner(?) was also going around tables to check up on customers, very personable guy! But now on to the food- we started with the spicy beef and tripe appetizers- solid flavor but missing that numbing spice that we were looking for. Green beans were as expected, yummy! well cooked and seasoned. Star of the show was the toothpick lamb- Crispy, spicy, and salty. A perfect dish to eat with rice. Portions were great too. Would come back just for the lamb Chicken was a but disappointing. Wow you leave town for a while and tons of stuff changes. This is the 3rd new Chinese restaurant that's opened since I got back. In the ild Ocha space (theyve kept the tea menu and will serve tea acain soon), but the old Taiwanese snacks are moving to a full restaurant of Hunanese and Sichuanese fare. Having just eaten at the new excellent taco truck in the dame shopping center we were still hungry-ish and hit them for sone takeout on the way home. They've said the menu is still small for soft opening and the items will grow . However the menu is pretty solid as is so im already waiting to come back. Since I didnt have my token transistor luckily they switched the ipad to English. Stewed beef tripe, spicy short ribs and mala hot pot of pork blood/intestine/prawns. So good. And this is soft opening and a to go order! They dont dumb down the flavors and spices so know this when you're heading in. When they're full bore it's going to be awesome. This center needed a proper sit down restaurant that isn't fast casual and I think this is the one. Cant wait to try more of the menu to cone. Surprisingly delightful. Im glad they didnt tone down the spice one bit. Although I do see some option for non spicy chinese food so there are options for everyone. We got fried chicken, fried intestine and stir fried cabbage. The intestine was so so good. Its the right amount of spiciness and numbing goodness. I miss it so much because it is such a hassle to go to San Jose for Sichuan food. We anded up dont eat for a long time. When we picked up the food we knew it was good because the smell was legit. Service was fast and friendly. They have pretty spacious for dine in area. I am beyond happy that there is a legit sichuan restaurant in Mountain View. That means I no linger have to drive 25 mins to San Jose to eat Sichuan food. I hope they do well and stay a long time in this area read more

Ordered takeout tonight and it was a little disappointing. Pricey for sure. We ordered Grandma's stir fried chicken it was all neck bones! $24.95 for a bowl of neck bones??? What the neck???? My daughter and her friend went into this restaurant during opening hours and ordered boba drinks on the electronic order tablets. Nobody ever came out with their drinks, nor could they find anyone to help them. After several minutes, they had to leave to go to a class so they never received the drinks for which they paid. Unfortunately, they paid with Apple Pay so it's hard to get the money returned. I called the phone number listed for the restaurant and the voicemail was full so I was unable to leave a message. My partner and her friends brought me here today for dinner and I wasn't really expecting anything considering we're at South Bay, second to SGV for Chinese food but let me tell ya, this place completely shocked me with the authenticity of the food, warm and comforting vibe and a great service. I ordered the fish with garlic. It was very badly prepared, with no taste at all. this is a dish I like at many other Chinese places, but this was seriously underseasoned, the only part that was okay were the bell peppers. The menu only also says rice is "free add" and after I ordered (without rice) the lady asked if I wanted rice and did not mention any charge for the rice. At the end of the bill, the charge for the rice was 1.99 and when I asked what free add meant they said it meant free refill. The people who work here clearly speak fluent English and could have written free refill instead of (free add), this is an intentional scam to try to take a small amount more. Menu prices are already very high, and intentionally scamming people at that price is crazy. I was so excited to try this place close to home, and am severely disappointed. I have been going to Ocha since I was 12, and I walk into this place, the Ocha sign is still up and the interior looks almost identical. They still have the same boba tea menu up and everything. I tried to order some food like I usually do but apparently the kitchen is closed between 2:30 and 4:30 which stinks cause this is prime after school time for most teens in the area. Also unfortunately despite the drink menu being unchanged, the tea tastes notably different. I can't say much about the food (cause I couldn't order it) but it's pretty disappointing to see a loved local place disappear. The ordering experience is also now done on a kiosk which is not my favorite either. I'm sure the new place is fine, I'm just a bit heartbroken to see an old haunt close and reopen looking basically the same but with some unfortunate changes. read more
