We LOVE this place. In fact, we travel fairly long distances to come here. There isn't a Mediterranean restaurant this side of... well, the Mediterranean that can touch this restaurant. This was our third time eating here, the last one having been our wedding celebration. I have to tell you about the food (duh): I should start by saying that everything is excellent. It's family run, with the food fresh, family prepared and from family recipes. The Muhammara (they seem to have variations of the red pepper spread/paste) is the food of the angels. The hummus and baba ganoush are also heavenly, each probably the best we've had anywhere. The falafels are freshly made, and in the warmer weather the dolmas are made from baby grape leaves grown right outside. And the salmon, served in the Wednesday buffet... OMG. Their desserts are beautifully presented and incredible also. I should add that the staff are all very friendly and take great pride in their restaurant. We are hoping to move to the area sometime next year. We expect to be regular visitors, particularly for the very cost-effective Wednesday buffets, although you owe it to yourself to come one day to pick your favorites, which will probably be anything on their menu. read more

The best baba ganoush I've ever had. That said, the dining experience wasn't that great. I'm thinking they may have been busier than they thought they were going to be and as a result were understaffed. My friends from the area have eaten here multiple times and raved about it. They have had experiences where the chef brought food to the table just for them to try! I love authentic family-owned restaurants that do special touches like this. We waited to be seated, and then waited for menus, then waited a LONG time for our order to be taken. When drinks arrived (they didn't have any alcohol that night) they were incorrect. I did love how they had melon juice, blueberry juice, mint lemonade, etc... on the menu... just wish I had gotten what I ordered. The cold appetizer plate to share came out soon after the drinks (although we had been there at least half hour already). It was delicious and I could eat it every day. Healthy too! We ordered two pizzas for the three of us to share and they were just okay. I don't think the pizza oven outside was fired up. As a result, the pizzas came out 45 minutes after we were done with our app (and starving) and they did not have the wood fired flavor they had promised. I'm thinking we came in on an off-night. This was my first time here. I ordered take out and when I went to pick it up the restaurant was really dirty which kind of turned me off. I was sad there were no grape leaves in the appetizer platter when I was told there was. Unfortunately the pieces of meat in my lamb kabob were chewy and had lots of tendons. Also only 4 small pieces of meat in a kabob entree. Pita bread was stale. The flavors were pretty good though. I enjoyed the labneh baba ghanoush and hummus. Absolutely the best eggplant dish I have had anywhere . I wish I could have taken home a bottle of the tahini sauce on top . We came here looking for something different and were very pleased. The food and service were great . I personally had a little issue with vinyl table cloth it was a bit sticky on this sweltering evening, there appeared to be no air conditioning available. It was too hot to sit outside which was too bad because it was set up so nice .We had the stuffed grape leaves which were good but different than any I had before I was not a fan of the tomatoes in them. The chickpea curry was very good. The rice was delicious very flavorful. We had the chicken which had great spices and came with a fresh cucumber and tomato salad that was delicious. We all loved the appetizer platter with hummus. We were a bit disappointed that the pita tasted store bought but the hummus and dips made up for it. The chicken kebab was the best I ever ate. Loved the side salad, great dressing and sliced apples were yummy. The lamb from the lamb and hummus was delicious. The vegetarian sample was very tasty. Excellent stuffed grape leaves! The portions are very generous! My only critique would be that the hummus needed more seasoning. The owner was very friendly and prepared our food quickly. Excellent. We were lucky enough to find this place after getting gas nearby. We found this to be an excellent Middle Eastern restaurant which is one of our favorite cuisines. the moussaka was extraordinary as was the baba ghanouj. We judge places by the quality of the baba ghanouj and this was baba way beyond the average, smoky and savory. We were traveling this day so we weren't able to spend time in the restaurant but we look forward to returning and spending more time there with a bottle of good wine. The food doesn't seem to be organic but it was decent. The service from my experience was terrible! was very disappointed. Had us waiting almost an hour for our meals! when we got our food it didn't look fresh at all. I recommend stay away but if you are curious try at your own risk. read more

Just like the name, "Garden house" it is. Beautifully decorated indoor and outdoor seatings are available with a lovely ambiance. The food here really sets the bar high, it was authentic, full of flavor and delicious. We started with the veggie sampler which was soooo good, enough for 2 hungry people to wipe clean ;) Then I ordered the Cod fish, I have to say it was to die for! Spiced and cooked just perfect. It comes with rice and a side of grilled veggies. My friend had the fig pizza. I didn't have any because she ate the entire thing herself so I'm gonna assume it's really good. Lol They also have lots of wine selections, we didn't have any but I'm sure there are plenty of great choices to pick from. Last but not least, the service. The lady was so sweet and treated us so well. This is a moms/ pops place that takes pride in their food quality and service. I really would recommend anyone to try this place if they are in the area. Delightful, relaxed atmosphere in the garden outside. We sat at one of the tables under an umbrella, next to an apple tree, while music and laughter was coming from the small island bar across the path to the main building, which has more outdoor seating on the wide porch. The food was delicious. We had to wait quite a while because the owner was alone in the kitchen but a friend was volunteering at the bar and as waiter. And I had the best halva ever there. I know it as dry and crumbly, but this halva was soft and creamy and then dry and crumbly, all in the same bite. Wonderful and very clever! read more

This place has an eclectic cool artsy vibe to it. Started with hummus and pita bread. The hummus was 5 stars good. The pita seemed like it came out of a bag from the supermarket. Though I do understand that there are not too many middle eastern bakeries in Ulster County, so you get what you get. The kids pita pizza was meh. I have made better at home with cheap ingredients. The chicken schwarma was as good as anywhere in NYC. The french fries were very soggy not so good. When my wife asked for salt, the waiter brought out a filthy greasy salt shaker that we didn't want to touch. A family arrived and sat at the table next to us. When they brought out a high chair for the child it was a dirty white chair that was in serious need of a scrubbing or power washing. I went to this restaurant last evening for a drink with my Mother, We sat out in the garden and after ordering our drinks we began to realize that the "lawn" was just a bunch of weeds and dirt. Dead plants on the tables. Took forever to get our drinks. My mother ordered a beer and I ordered a vodka and soda. After sipping my drink I realized there was hardly any vodka in it. The soda was completely flat. I went back to the bartender to ask about it and she rudely took the drink and added a splash of vodka reluctantly. When I went to pay they charged $14 for the worse vodka soda I've ever had and $9 for the beer! I handed her my credit card and she said they only take cash. No sign of that anywhere. Oh, but they have a cash machine! I went in to the building to get cash and there were swarms of flies everywhere and around the kitchen/prep area. Got my cash (which they charged a hefty fee to get from the ATM) and went back to pay. Handed her $40.00. Coulldn't make any change. She went searching all over, probably around town to other merchants) and finally came back and handed me $8.00 back. I said she made a mistake with the change. She told me no mistake. The owner is charging me $21.00 for my vodka soda because they put another "shot" in it. I was outraged. Complained. She came over with this strange looking bottle of vodka and said this is very expensive "organic" vodka. I said I didn't ask for expensive organic vodka. The bottle had fingerprints all over it. I couldn't taste any vodka in my drink. I swear the vodka was watered down. Owner was VERY very rude and dismissive. This place is a disgrace and total rip off. Do NOT GO. We wanted to like this place so much as it's got a cute yard and I love Mediterranean food. I was a little put off at first by how unclean it is and that should have been enough of a red flag (especially in COVID times) but we stayed and ordered. The older man taking our order seemed confused when I tried to order a seltzer water and at first told me there were no drinks available. He then said we could have coffee or water only. We ordered waters, the appetizer plate, chicken schwarma and kofte sandwiches. It kind of kept going downhill from there - the hummus had TWO hairs in it -- looking at other reviews, this seems to be a pattern -- the sandwiches ok but greasy, the side salad was just a few pieces of mixed greens with no toppings or dressing. At the end, my husband had to go inside to pay because no one ever came back to our table. When he did, he was told it was cash only because their system was down, which would have been good to know ahead of time because we had no cash. They had an ATM so we had to pay extra for the fee - had they told us it was cash only, we would have found somewhere else. We won't be returning. read more

Go for the pizza, which has the potential to make you weep. Yes, it's that good. Other than that, I'd say that the meat dishes are slightly dry and overcooked, and the rice can be a bit hard. Lamb with rice? Um, this is a Middle Eastern staple dish... Should be the centerpiece of the menu selection, but I'd say... ...Stick with the brick oven pizza, and one of several craft beers on the menu. we went to rosendale to try another spot, but after going in there and seeing the "bar" atmosphere (which you can't tell from pics online) we had to go somewhere else. We looked at the menu of this place and automatically said lets try. The staff is so warm and inviting. Being with 2 kids, we ordered one of the large pizzas. Wow, it was amazing and we all ended up eating it, not just the kids. You def. get your bang for your buck , at least for the pizzas. A large is around 18$ and its huge, we even had some leftover to take home. Cant wait for the weather to get a little warmer and try sitting outside in their garden. I found this spot located in Rosendale, NY, only a 12 minute drive from Stone Ridge. The food is AMAZING! We live in NY City so I really don't say this lightly. As an appetizer we had the cold vegetarian plate which includes the babaganoosh, hummus, yogurt, and other samples. The spices and seasoning of that alone was exquisite. Then we had a watermelon salad with feta that was to die for. So much nuance in the taste. Finally, as main dishes we had the red snapper and the chicken shawarma. Both were great and full of taste. I was very excited to find this place on yelp and read all the great reviews. My wife and I made a reservation for 4pm on a Thursday. Apparently, this was not necessary, as we were the ONLY customers there from 4-6:45pm. We were looking forward to middle eastern cuisine. We arrived there and an older gentleman told us to sit wherever we wanted. We chose outdoor seating. There was a younger man setting the bar area up and we assumed that he was the bartender. He was very pleasant but not very knowledgeable with any of the questions we asked him. The older gentleman brought us food menus but no drink menus. I asked what IPA's were available and he couldn't answer but brought me out a drink menu. When looking at the food menu, I realized that my menu had no entree page so I looked at my wife's. My wife ordered one of their "specialty drinks" on the menu, a limoncello martini. She had three of them and each one was different than the last. When she ordered the third, the "bartender's" response was, "I'm not sure how to make that but I'll do my best". He then stated that he doesn't think they even carry limoncello. Now, on to the food..... We ordered humus, which was tasty. The pita bread was fresh and soft. We also ordered the southwest pizza that did not appear to be made as the menu stated. There was no eggplant spread and It tasted like there was cooking wine poured on it. We ordered Kofta beef/lamb over rice dish. The rice was slightly dry and the the meat tasted like a cheeseburger. Furthermore, there was only one kebab for this plate, which cost $16. During our dining experience, the woman who served us, who apparently is the owner, fell off the face of the earth. Nobody came and checked on us. Nobody brought us extra napkins and no plates were provided until we asked the clueless bartender, who was wearing headphones and couldn't hear us. I had to approach him to get his attention. After we finished eating, there was nobody there to give us our check so we stood at the register for a few minutes and tried to get the attention of the gentleman who sat us. When the owner came to give us the bill, she charged us for an extra martini and when I let her know, she explained to me that she was keeping count and she knows, but she agreed to take it off. When she gave me the credit card receipt, she did NOT take the extra charge off the bill. We will NEVER visit this establishment again. read more
