Terrible, just terrible service and terrible people, i used there service a twice when I was in extreme need of a truck to move, don't waste your time with these people ,they are unmatched at gaslighting and doing absolutely the most vial disgusting and disrespectful things to you if your get on there "bad side" and when I say bad side you don't need to do much for them to throw you under the bus, they won't follow threw with appointments, always late, dirty cars, vindictive weird people, let me save you the horrible experience and stay away And to clarify I used this service over a year ago and wasn't going to waste my time and write a review, but I ran into the owner yesterday when I was at the store and I simply said hi, he proceeded to cus me out, and then makes up a elaborate story and says hes done all these things To weaponize the police to put me under investigation ....and pretend to talk to an investigator on his phone and says, I better not leave the auto parts store because the cops are coming for me....lol this guy is disturbed and obviously is sitting in misery best to just avoid him read more

Very challenging 13 day stay that was met by a fix a day with 3 out of 5 air conditioning units broken for the majority of the time renting. Portables were brought in for each one that failed although the central space of kitchen/living and dining room not bearable as the heat in Kauai plus humidity was high. The rental had a beautiful setting, however, needed to be updated with consistency as some areas plus amenities helpful. The swimming pool needed to be fixed around the perimeter as stone was broken off. I tried with the general manager to receive compensation for the daily calls and frustrations...he was responsive but not with long term fix only a quick fix. It was a very frustrating vacation with family and friends. No attempt to create an amendable solution was done with the exception of $2000 check sent for a $26K bill for the 13 days for each challenge and frustration with a home that did not meet it's advertised AC, it was splits that were not maintained per the air conditioning repair men. I just reviewed the reviews, mine and multiple other reviews that were up with the same comments have been removed at this time. I tried to dispute with me credit card company however, disputes have a short time line which is not in accordance with the timeline of rentals as Payment starts immediately with deposits and monies owed as this home was rented about 8 months prior to going, which leaves you with no feasible solution as the renter. VRBO and AIRBNB now has that capacity to align with the renter with fees for the renter, if the rental is not as advertised which Hale Ma'ana Hou - beachfront home with A/C and pool. And to remove the reviews from July/august/september when the reviews stated the same, is definitely misleading to the renters experiences which were candid...with challenges with the home...needing to be updated/fixed... read more

GARDEN ISLAND RENTALS completely botched our arrival. W received our arrival correspondence WITHOUT AN ACCESS CODE TO GET INTO THE HOUSE. Four women and a 6 month old baby arrived at 9:00 pm to a dark house. We tried to correspond with the office as soon as we received the memo before we left San Diego, during their office hours, we then called and texted their emergency numbers after we landed on the island. WE GOT NO RESPONSE. The company blamed a "computer glitch," but DIDN'T even call the next day. We finally gained entrance with the help of the Baby Gear Rental Company. The House was awesome but BEWARE of the GARDEN ISLAND RENTAL STAFF. WE HAD BIG PROBLEMS WITH AVAILABILITY AND LACK OF RESPONSE. read more

After a lengthy and more challenging than usual trip to Asia, my spouse convinced me to alter our course and stop in Kauai to unwind. We'd been here before in the past and I wasn't particularly in a Hawai'i mood...or so I thought. Eager to get Stateside and back into the thick of other business and personal matters, this seemed like an indulgence which could have waited. Until I saw what he had in store for us. When life presents opportunities you can't seem to resist - take them. I am pleased we did so when deciding where to spend our time unwinding. Here, we were able to relax in a manner we'd not done in recent times. Whether it was reading, writing, sleeping, catching up on less pressing matters (I couldn't resist doing some work!), even Yelping in between the light raindrops...this was one of the best unexpected vacations I'd had on this level in years. The "do nothing whilst doing all" experience. Garden Island's offerings include 1-5 bedroom units, reasonable weekly rates (though one will indeed pay for "luxury"), and proximity to horseback riding, golf, shopping, snorkeling, and a variety of other sports or social activities. If you splurge for just the right place as we did, it's even better to swim privately, sit in bliss and watch the waves crashing, and to soak up the raw and breathtakingly gorgeous frontier Kauai has to offer. One will truly feel as if paradise has been found - or at least recaptured - when booking accommodations with this efficient, pleasant, and conveniently invisible outfit. Mahalo! read more

After an unexpected family life event came up, Garden Island Rentals was very gracious in working with us to issue a full refund rather than the standard 50% offered through Airbnb. They were responsive and showed the true Hawaiian spirit and culture of Aloha. They have several beautiful rental properties and we were excited for our stay. They were booked out completely the month of May so we were unable to simply modifiy the dates. After they worked with us to give a full refund when they didn't have to, we will most certainly look into booking with them again when going to Hawaii. Mahalo! read more

The most unprofessional 'manager' I've ever had the displeasure. Louis thought that notifying him for the SECOND time at 6:52am on Monday (he ignored me 2 days earlier) was 'crossing boundaries'. A single woman with the front door lock not working (you can push it right in even though it appears to be locked -- the mechanism isn't catching). AND, the blinds on the master bedroom to the front lawn of the resort wouldn't close (the pull cord was pulled out of the wall and in pieces on the floor) I didn't notice till ~6pm when you might want to be in the bedroom and need the blinds closed... AND the screen doors, on the slider where the blinds don't close, on the master BR weren't locking either. (Easy fix...but there were no tools!) 'THIS', in his mind, didn't constitute an emergency. Like a friend said, anything 'more' emergency you call 911! Louis, the so called manager, wrote back "LOL" when I said this would be an emergency considering you ignored it 48 hrs ago. ZERO professionalism, rude and disrespectful. He came off as being a bully. AND has yet to apologize or do anything to make up for his appalling behavior. read more

The one thing that a property management company is supposed to do well is to match potential renters to their clients' properties. We booked an ocean front property from Garden Island Rentals via VRBO (which has always worked well for us), we paid over $10,000 via AMEX and then booked five non-refundable flights. FOUR days later, I received a form email that our rental property had been cancelled. No phone call, no explanation. read more

WOW is right!!! If you want great ocean front places to stay you should check out their properties... This is our 5th time we have rented from GIR's and each year seems better the the one before!!! Can't wait till next year for our stay again with a GREAT oceanfront condo... We have stayed at their houses on baby beach and they are to die for....Swimming with the turtles at Baby Beach was so fun and relaxing....And the sunsets we amazing too... We've rented Hale Moana on Poipu for two weeks for years. Before that, 3 years in a Garden Island rental up by Spouting Horn. Never had a problem. The original owner's son has taken over the company and we talked to him a bit upon moving in last week. He's upfront that there have been past problems. He seems competent and energized to run the company more professionally than in the past. My wife and I have noticed little signs that that's the case. My advice for you naysayers and would-be tenants: give'em a (another) try. read more

Worst management team ever. We rented this place for ~$1,000/day. The air conditioner didn't work. The pool filter didn't work and the pool was growing algae. The refrigerators and ice makers didn't work. We had repair people there virtually every day of our trip. When we finally did get a call back from the management team their representative was unsympathetic, and rude. We extracted a promise to get back with us regarding a partial refund, but to no avail. The management team will no longer respond. This is grossly unprofessional to say the least and downright rude. My advice: find another company to rent from. read more

The KAHALEKAI home near Spouting Horn was described in the Garden Island Rental listing as "lovingly maintained", but unfortunately this is not an accurate description. The first thing we noticed upon arrival was the pervasive smell of urine so we purchased a plug-in air deodorizer, which helped somewhat with the main living area, but the two bathrooms reeked of urine for the duration of our stay. We also quickly realized that the home is badly in need of some TLC. The first time we opened one of the screen doors and one of the closet doors, the entire door came off in our hands These had obviously been broken previously and not repaired. The hot water heater also had quite a substantial leak and corrosion. This home would benefit from a new coat of paint inside and out, new furnishings, some maintenance, and a thorough cleaning. The pros are that the home is in a great location right on the ocean, the kitchen has everything you will need and more, and the patio furniture is nice. read more

This is my 7th time renting a house in Poipu and the 2nd time at HALE OHE. We asked Garden rentals on the phone, if the house has been kept updated and we were assured that it was. When we got there we were in pure shock. The house was filthy. The furniture inside smelled of sweat, the patio furniture was moldy and dirty. We had to put beach towels on furniture inside and out before we would sit down. The beds were so old and uncomfortable. The cupboards, banisters and windows were so dirty. We had to clean anything we touch because of dirt and stickiness. We had to clean sliding windows so we can look outside. The shower curtains had mildew. People walked by all hours of the night to go to baby beach, which kept us awake, It was a nightmare of a trip. We cut our vacation short because we just couldn't stay there any longer. The view is great, lots of humpback whales going by. Garden rentals did work with us by getting us 50% back for the rental. We should have received all money back since we didn't enjoy a minute there. The owner of this property should feel shame for taking our money and ruining our vacation. Run as far as you can from "HALE OHE" until you have proof that these issues are addressed, so you won't have a ruined vacation like we did. read more

My 2 stars are for the house. ZERO to the management company. This is a nice home in a good location but it is in need of some serious repairs and maintenance. There were repair men at the house if I called of not. The pool turned green after 3 days. The pool man told us the pump stopped working. So we could not use the pool at all, and I had 3 grand children with me. The air conditioner is locked at 74 degrees. I was told I had use of the 3 car garage but when we got there it was filled to the ceiling with the owners stuff. When I called the management company to tell them my concerns after i got home, I got nothing but a argument from the lady on the phone. I kept getting excuses on how it's Hawaii and it's hard to get things done, and to get parts. Never did I get a thank you for using us or sorry for your inconvenience. They would not call me back or answer my emails. When my husband wrote a review, that's when I got a phone call that the owner of the home would do nothing for us. I'm now looking for another home to rent for next summer for my family, but it won't be with this management company. read more
