I hate to have to write this but feel I should make other people aware... lack of follow up/concern to my dogs health is the main reason for review. Unfortunately I had to put my senior dog down approx just a bit over a week after the visit due to what I believe was a heavy prescription dose. I was bringing my 16+ yr old dog to this vet for librela injections the past few months since moving back to town. I knew my buddy was wearing down, but beyond slow walking from arthritis, he wasn't showing any other major signs. The last visit I scheduled was to have an honest conversation with the dr about end of life and signs to look out for since it was my first time going through this. I knew the dr Cagle was out of town on holiday, and I specifically asked for an experienced dr to meet. I showed up to the appointment, only to be met by a dr who in my best description seemed "sedated"... she looked hung over/out of it, she showed no empathy or care about the situation, struggled to form coherent sentences, and provided absolutely no good information, and after about a minute or two of looking at my dog (first time) was ready to walk out. I pointed out to the dr my dog had some skin rashes (which she barely looked at) and had been diagnosed with early kidney disease a couple of years ago, but no major progression. She prescribed 300mg gabapentin twice daily and carprofen 100mg every other day if gabapentin didn't work. I wasn't sure why but she suggested it would alleviate any lingering pain. Also amoxicillin for skin rashes. (I learned later that this dr was a temp and on "benadryl" ) I followed dosage instructions and woke up the next day to an unresponsive dog (He was given his last gabapentin the night before around midnight). I thought he was dead. Had urinated his bed and was just dead weight with his tongue hanging out of his mouth. I had to monitored him for the following 36-48 hrs, and he never fully regained complete mobility of his limbs or could hold weight. He seemed super disoriented at all times. I seeked advice from other local doctors who all seemed to agree these were heavy doses for a senior dog with potential kidney disease, as these meds are hard on the kidneys. I must say dr Cagle did reach out about this situation during his trip, after I voiced my displeasure with the visit to the staff. He stuck to this being proper treatment, and said he would follow up on dec 19th when back in town. My dog had to be put down on dec 22nd... and I never received any follow up to even see how he was doing.... read more

They were super friendly and helpful which is rare now a days I don't remember the front desk guys name but he when above and beyond to contact multiple vets to get the previous records! I gave this vet over $1,000 since December and Dr. Cagle was unable and eventually unwilling to help my two sick dogs. They have a persistent cough and are both recovering from heartworms. After paying for x-rays and 5 different medications my dogs were still coughing. The vet's staff admitted to me that Dr. Cagle "had no clue" what was wrong with my dogs and it showed. He pumped them with drugs to see which one would stick. After asking for further medical advice for my two dogs, Dr. Cagle ignored my request to speak on the phone and would no longer attempt to help us stating he had " terminated this veterinarian-client-patient relationship". Dr. Cagle took personal offense to my frustration over the fact none of the medicines he prescribed helped my sick dogs. If you say anything to the Dr.Cagle that he does not like, he will terminate all communication with no consideration for your dogs health. Dr. Cagle was very unprofessional and I would not recommend taking your dogs here if they need competent care. read more

We had a very difficult, geriatric rescue dog who had suffered trauma and could be... cranky. Dr. Cagle was the first vet to consider that there could be something medical contributing to my dog's moodiness, lethargy, and obesity: he diagnosed her with hypothyroidism. Once we got the medication for that, my dog seemed years younger in terms of energy, affection, and mood. While she still required extra patience and a gentle touch from both owner and vet (she did have ptsd after all, and she liked to use her two remaining teeth to bite), Dr. Cagle was always happy to give her patient, gentle treatment and fully explain what was going on to me as her owner. We ended up having to switch vets when we moved to Dallas, but I'll be forever grateful to Dr. Cagle for changing my dog's life. read more

Unfortunately, it is deplorable poor, poor customer service. It's an embarrassment to have a need to be seen your pet and deal with such uncaring people. Just uncomfortable and unacceptable for they shouldn't even work with animals. I used to go there for over a year. But because in the last two appointments, I was late 17 min and no show, on the last one ( I called to reschedule, 24 min after the appointment ), Dr. Cagle terminated our relationship after charging a Non-show fee of $45 and refusing to see my sick pet because his staff assumed I hung up on them when the truth is we lost connection. I called again, and they have already decided to terminate our relationship based on their assumption. The argument was I took 20 min to call them back. The appointment was for another day anyway, so I had another call and needed to take it. It's simply ridiculous how they treat people there. After the unfortunate arguing about their assumption and refusing to let me talk to the Dr., They hung up on me. I texted them as my only option to speak to the Dr directly and resolve the miss assumption, and they said the Dr wouldn't talk to me about it. By the way, the Dr knows how long I have been keeping my pet under medication and having him be a "caring" Dr... I refuse to believe he took his staff's assumption and did not even want to speak to me. It's holidays, and my Dog is sick; why if "he is "caring" Dr. Cagle refuses to see my pet? Inhumane and lack of empathy for other people and animals. I had been mistreated before by his staff, but I understood the ignorance they carried and did not give importance. Really painful experience. We brought our new puppy here for his shots. He was in so much pain. I have never had a dog experience pain like this from simple shots. The only thing close was a microchip and even that wasn't this bad. He was still crying 24 hours later. I called to ask if the doctor could prescribe something for the pain, but the doctor was unavailable and would not be available to write a prescription for several hours and we had to go out of town. It would have taken less than a minute. Maybe I've been spoiled by the stellar service at the Cat Doctor, but our new little dog friend deserves better. We are switching vets. read more

Dr. Eric Cagle is among the most compassionate and generous veterinarians in this city. Unfortunately, his hands are a little bit tied here. Without establishing a valid client-patient relationship, veterinarians are not legally permitted to provide veterinary care. Fortunately, you do have some options. 1) Get extra SC fluids and supplies from your regular veterinarian, and keep a set unused for emergencies. 2) ask your vet for a written prescription for fluids and supplies. You can use this script to get the things you need from any veterinary pharmacy. 3) ask your vet to call in a script for you to the pharmacy of your choosing. 4) as your vet if they have established a relationship with a local vet near you to act as a Pharmacy for them. If so, ask your vet to give their local partner a call and see I'd they can fill the script for you. 5) go see Dr Cagle and establish a valid dr-patient relationship and get the supplies you need. Bonus! You also get a local vet to help out with any other needs that pop up in the future. Note that harassing a veterinarian for simply following the law is not one of the options available to you. read more

Vets are not in office. We're from out of town, I give my feline daughter Subcutaneous Fluids with IV bag 100 ML every night for over four years now since her Kidney Disease Diagnosis along with her medications. I reached out to Urban Vets to simply purchase a bag with our Veterinarian's verification with their confirmation but the staff there refused and expressed they'd require Abbey, an out of town patient to get a full examination $$$ instead of simply checking with our own veterinarian of many years. The staff are rude, ignorant, speak on behalf of licensed veterinarians and refused a simple gesture to an animal parent. Things happen and people travel, you'd think animal clinics would respect and work with outside guests, I'm sure they'd hope out of town Veterinary Hospitals would assist their clients as well. I have had such great care with dr Cagle, He diagnosed my pup with an autoimmune disorder quickly and was able to control it. I am lucky i found him and he saved my pup's life. THIS VET (AND HIS STAFF) ARE AMAZING!!!!! They actually care and will text asking how your animal is doing or answer if you are having a concern/problem. This vet removed a huge tumor from my cat - who is 855,000 years old and she is so much better now. Provided her with plenty of meds/food/directions and a follow up visit, that all came with the price of surgery/anesthesia/x-rays, etc. Great vet techs and doctor. Cannot say enough good about them all and we never have to wait to see the doctor for appointments. TRULY, TRULY love them and they saved our poor, sweet, blind baby. read more

I don't like to write negative reviews. I just feel I need to share my experience. I took my newly adopted kitten to The Urban Vet because of a friend's recommendation. The kitten had ringworm and had given the ringworm to me and my family. I had no prior experience or knowledge about ringworm. Dr. Cagle was nice, but he didn't really explain to me about ringworm. I had to read online to figure it all out. It's a big deal and super contagious. Additionally, my kitten was given vaccines, and I was charged without my permission. I didn't even know they had done it until I reviewed my receipt at home. That was super upsetting to me. I had taken the kitten for other issues - not vaccines. I was concerned about the kitten scratching itself and about a coughing sound he was making. The coughing sound was never addressed with me, and I forgot to ask because I was so surprised about the ringworm. Anyway, I wouldn't go back, but maybe it was just an off day. read more

The Urban Vet Staff and especially Dr. Cagle have proven to be a "lifesaver" for our 9 1/2 year old dog. We brought her in severely limping and suffering from a slight tear of her cruciate. Dr. Cagle is professional and never too busy to speak with me WHENEVER I have called. His direction on a suggested care plan for our dog has proven to be successful in getting our dog back to her happy self.
