Initially it was a good experience but after I transferred to Stony Brook I realized they were over charging my insurance by thousands with unnecessary amounts of sonograms and ultrasounds. I was getting several calls from my insurance notifying me that services requesting by Gopika Are, the OBGYN, were being denied because they were excessive and not medically necessary. I didn't know what any of this meant until I finally transferred to Stony Brook and when I told them I was doing blood work and ultrasounds/ sonograms every 2-3 weeks, they were shocked. They said it's most likely a way for them to bill as much as humanly possible to my insurance- which after a few months totaled up to 17,000$. When I told Gopika Are that I was transferring care she was very visibly upset and asked what was the reason. Other doctors I've seen at Garden OBGYN also were annoyed when I told them I plan on delivering at Stony Brook and not Good Samaritan because they were not in their network. They even tried to convince me not to go to Stony Brook which I felt was a huge red flag. If you have Medicaid - you are covered to go to Stony Brook for prenatal and delivery care!! Go there instead as it is the absolute best hospital in the north east. read more

I loved this gynecologist since 2019. 6 months ago I had an appointment to renew my birth control that I need for PCOS. I called them about 20 times saying my pharmacy never received the prescription. They told me I was wrong but they would call the pharmacy. I never got it and switched to Amazon delivery. I gained weight because I went off my pills for about 2 weeks waiting. Then they called me non stop saying I owed $600. I called back and said there's no way that's true. They said they are becoming part of Northwell and many patients got calls about money they don't owe. I got a reminder for an appointment via text and told them I'm canceling. They called 4 times in a row and then sent another text saying I need to fill out pre appointment paperwork. What?? I'm so sad. I trusted them and wanted to stay there. Idk if it is because Northwell is taking over? I used to have to call to get them to put my prescription through but usually that worked. It's horrible now. I'm never going back. read more

This clinic has actively neglected me as a patient. They have NOT given me or uploaded my medical results or shared them with me and it has been a month. Provider Januarios Gipsa called me today and told me she misplaced my medical results and can't do anything about it. This is in extreme violation of my patient rights and it is beyond neglect and can be life threatening if not treated. THESE PEOPLE HAVE FAILED!!!! read more

My appointment was canceled due to a hip disability. So much for medical staff who care about their clients. Frankie Batiste, PA looked confused and said that she would cancel my appointment. How did she know if she would be saving my life by giving me testing?No solutions were found and I walked out of there without my annual exam. I was sad, embarrassed and blamed myself. If you are healthy without any issues you can visit any of their locations. If you have a disability look for another place. Everyone deserves medical care from professionals who love their careers and have a genuine interest in helping everyone who comes in. read more

Doctors are great. The office handling and communication is incredibly disappointing.

This is the worst obgyn I've ever been to. Planned parenthood is better than this place. I waited an hour to be seen then 2 hours my last appointment. The doctor failed to call in my prescription, I had to call again the next day to insist I get my meds. My blood work was done for a prenatal visit some things came back abnormal. I was not called by any doctor to b aware of any concern that was 2 months ago. Then you call to speak to a doctor and you get phone receptionists that barely speak English. Doctors don't call you back. It's a joke this place, do not go here !! read more

Please stay away from this practice. They over charged me multiple times and when I brought it to their attention they admitted it was a mistake. They sent this wrong charge to collections and they called me at extremely odd hours and often awoke me while I was sleeping. Extremely rude people answer the phone and one representative called me "Mami" on the phone. They discontinued my prescription without telling me. They booked me for appointments without my authorization or consent. Appointments never start on time and doctor is different every single time. I would encourage others to be wary of this place and go elsewhere. I've never had such a negative experience with a doctor's office, and I really regret not reading the reviews beforehand. It took ONE MONTH for me to get all of my test results in for a regular check-up exam, and the only way I was able to get all of them was by calling Labcorp directly myself. The office experience was very awkward -- the medical assistant seemed very out of it, the doctor I'd booked with wasn't working, there were random men in suits roaming around in the back. I considered leaving and decided not to, against my better judgment. The NP I wound up seeing was nice, but beyond that, this was a mistake. Results were delivered in a trickle, and I had to call multiple times to get answers before finally going directly to the lab. I spoke with four different providers and often was given conflicting information. I am afraid to do a follow-up appointment here. If you have any other options, choose them. I am regretful about deciding to go here, and I hope others don't repeat my mistake. read more

The secretary was helpful and pleasant. However, I can't say my experience overall has been the same. I had gone that same day to the ER and had a sonogram that morning before arriving to Garden OB/GYN, which I had mentioned to the specialist. The specialist then proceeded to have me take another sonogram, but I insisted there was no reason for this when I just had one done that morning. All I needed to do was fax over the results not sure why this wouldn't have been suggested. What I did get done was a pelvic exam and had given samples to get a culture. I was told the diagnosis of the infection that day and prescribed medication. A week and a half later and the infection still didn't clear up. I called to have a refill or change the treatment, but was pushed to make another visit. There is no reason I need to come back in for another visit... the diagnosis was confirmed and they had test samples already. So I should pay more and be inconvenienced to come back to stare at each other and wait longer to have a refill? read more

Totally unorganized practice.... From beginning to end my experience was absolutely terrible. can't get anyone on the phone except overseas people who put you on hold for extended periods of time. Labs all take unreasonable amount of times to get back and on top of that you need to travel to far offices to get any high tech things like blood work done. I am switching OBGYN this week hoping for a better experience elsewhere. I do not recommend this place to anybody read more

I'm very disappointed with my experience with Garden Ob/Gyn. My actual appointment seemed to go fine, relatively smooth process and a reasonable wait time. However, problems started as soon as I needed test results. I asked at my appointment when I should hear, I was told by tech the doctor should call me in 2-3 days. When this did not happen, I reached out via message on the patient portal and was told a doctor would call me within the current week. In the meantime, some labs are posted on my patient portal (not the results I was calling about) and the labs were for tests I did not consent to. Not sure how that is possible or legal but... Fast forward it's been two weeks and still no call or results in my patient portal. I've called the listed number multiple times only to be told "we'll let the office know to reload your results". This does not happen and you can NEVER get a call thru to the office or get a call back from a nurse, PA, doctor, etc. Finally today after another call in which I was told the exact same line about reloading my results, the customer service rep told the truth that no results would be released to my portal and that I would need to make an appointment. Mind you this is not coming from the doctor or office but instead the rep is saying this is "policy". In my opinion sounds like a way to charge my insurance and get a copay from me. I've never had a doctor that would not discuss or release results- sadly from reviews this seems like their MO. If you care about transparency, communication, and patient rights then I could not recommend Garden Ob/Gyn. read more

I booked an appointment for my daughter a month ago with a rude woman at the Commack location. This appointment was randomly cancelled via text the day before! Twice!! The first time I called I was told to text them. I did and the manager attempted to reschedule the appointment with me. Went round and round for a day but failed to reschedule. Days later, I get a text from them confirming the same appointment. I call and after a half hour of "checking" on it the appointment was verbally confirmed. Two weeks later, the night before the appointment I get a text stating the appointment was cancelled. AGAIN. When I called I was told the physician, Dr. Are had to leave early (same story as the last cancellation). I was extremely frustrated and asked for the manager's name as well as the regional manager. Next thing I know my daughter is "squeezed in" to an earlier appointment that day. I had other doctor appointments already set up that day and I work so getting there at the time was going to be a challenge. Plus, picking her up even earlier from school was an issue for her as well. I went on yelp and found the reviews of the facility and the doctor herself and immediately cancelled the appointment. Thanks to the reviews about Garden OBGYN in Commack, Garden OBGYN in general, and of Dr. Are in particular I feel my daughter and I have averted a bigger problem. Go in for menopause hormones after radical hysterectomy after a life of infertility (removal of ovaries tubes and uterus) and get charged for a pregnancy test and prescribed meds for a yeast infection - no hormones and I had no symptoms of a yeast infection! read more

I originally went to the commack location, and they gave me nerve damage from bloodwork! I went back and told them I can't really feel my right arm and they said there's nothing they could do and it could've happened anywhere. So I tried looking for another place on Zoc Doc trying to avoid this place. I book an appointment in Massapequa and didn't realize it was the same company. So I think hopefully they don't hurt me again. I had no physical damage this time, but I go in for why I haven't gotten my period in 4 months, they take my blood for hormone levels for possible PCOS, say come back next week for results. I'm getting ready for my appointment today when I get a robot text saying my appointment had been rescheduled for Friday, which is when I have work and no one ever called or checked with me before rescheduling. That is so unprofessional, I have been scared dealing with my issues and was hopeful to get some answers. I told them to cancel and asked if they could call me with the results, and they say they'll see if they can put in a request. Like I'm right here just transfer me? Or at least give me an idea of when I'll get a call, today, a few days, next week? (I probably won't). read more

I also have to piggyback on all these negative Reviews. There is so much to mention what is wrong with this 'Practice,' however, i will only mention the two most important to me and to you viewers. I also took tests, and the office never followed up with me. The call center made an appointment for me, and when I arrived at the office, either the dr was not there, or there was no mention of an established appointment. I will undoubtedly get a perfunctory response, from this office, apologizing with a request for me to call the office. The only consistent problem with that is, the office never picks up or returns phone calls. I also have to agree with the prior Reviews that it is very hard to find a good gynecologist on Long Island. This certainly is not the place Update: They continually harass me with a bill that I do not owe, and no one continues to answer the number that they implore you to contact so they can correct what is wrong. DO NOT GO HERE. DR. ARE IS A SCAM ARTIST. This practice should be reported to the Better Business Bureau. They told me my 5 week old fetus was DYING and I needed to come in every 3 days for a sonogram and to be reviewed by the doctor. After 2 visits, I could tell something was not right. I went to another doctor who told me that was a complete lie and everything looked great. Now, my daughter is a year old and there were absolutely no complications with my pregnancy. Garden OB/GYN was scamming me for insurance money!!!!! They billed thousands of dollars for "tests" that were completely unnecessary, especially at 5 weeks gestation. read more

If you're coming here for a termination (go to planned parenthood) or a Pap smear, do not come. If you refuse to get a Pap smear from Catherine Arias she will be persistent and gaslight you into trying to get one from her. She has terrible therapeutic communication, she trigger my ptsd due to me repeatedly saying "no" to her while she keep pushing it(she can't take no as an answer). If ur getting a termination they won't help until ur 1-6weeks pregnant. They wait until u show no sign of a ectopic pregnancy. You also need blood work every 3 days, and will be bruised. On top of the doctors rotating everyday they won't make the call for termination. A male doctor close to garden city called Dr.Mazlin is needed for consultations regarding medical or surgical termination. I didn't follow up with that doctor bc the appointment was 4 days later and will make me 6w 2d. I went to planned parenthood the next day and terminated the pregnancy close to 5w 5d bc I miscarriage but wasn't bleeding. Be mindful I was at this OB/GYN when I was 1week pregnant asking for help bc I knew my body couldn't handle pregnancy. I was left severally depressed after all of this and am now heading to therapy bc of lack of help I got from doctors. Only the nurse advice me to head to planned parenthood to get the help I needed. Probably should've read the reviews before wasting my time at this doctors office. I believe this doctor is just money hungry and doesn't care about a patients well being. Does not give any reassurance, comforting, or validation. The whole appointment was cold and anxiety ridden for no reason. The whole process was bizarre. Then getting any answers after the appointment is impossible, unless you want to text and harass them a million times to get an answer (you'll never get a hold of them otherwise). I wanted very badly to follow my doctor to this practice in Commack. When I called, there was no answer and the recording says to text. I began texting and they said to call for an appt. So I went back to calling and someone from another country picks up. They hardly speak English and have roosters and chickens making so much noise in the background. If you have roosters in an ob/gyn, it may be a red flag. They were so loud, it made it impossible to hear the woman on the phone. I would definitely not recommend. I will be finding a new practice and a new doctor. read more

I would give this place 0 stars, I would take away stars from them. I had high hopes for this place because my friend goes to the one in Queens. My first prenatal appointment was for 1030am. I did not get seen by the doctor till 11:40am. Then had to walk bottomless in my gown across the hall to the sono room with other people walking around (awkward). That lasted 5 minutes. I then got dressed to walk down the hall to sit on a bench to wait to talk to the doctor. She again spent 5 minutes with me asked what hospital I was planning to give birth at and said take Tylenol for my pain I was experiencing on my ovary. She handed me a folder said take this to the front desk to schedule my next appointment. I get to the receptionist who was telling me I have to wait in the seating area to be called to get my blood drawn. Mind you, it's 12:30 now. I left I couldn't take it anymore. I go on the patient portal to find that my doctor reported I had an infection and a cyst on my ovary, which I was unaware of. I called the next day to asked about my lab results, the lady said to call back in 7 days. so I called back and she's said a someone from the labs will call me back regarding my results. I never call back. I called back this past week (it's been a month!!) got the same bs, someone from the labs will call me back regarding my results. I never call back. I ended up going back to my StonyBrook midwives (I only went to garden ob/gyn because the midwives were booked), who not only treated me for this infection but called me back within 3 days and called to follow up and check in on me. garden ob/gym is by far the worst practice I've been to. Waited to get a second opinion to write this review. Had a harrowing experience here after seeing Victoria. I went in for my annual check-up and did everything as usual. I was told the results would be back in 7-10 days. After 7-10 days passed, I call the office multiple times but no one would answer. I had to use their TERRIBLE messaging system, only to get a hold of a snarky girl who is robotically asking me what I need. I asked for my results and she said someone would get in touch with me. After several days, someone (I have no idea who this person is) called me in the middle of work and gave me the results of my PAP and said there were abnormalities and if I'd like to schedule a biopsy for the following day. As you can imagine, that is a lot to digest in the middle of work and I was stunned. This woman seemed to be in a rush to schedule me for this biopsy appointment. When I said no to the appointment, she hung up. I called back and no one was answering, AGAIN. I was distraught and anxious from this news to say the least. Fast forward to present day, I went to see an MD and not a NP or PA, who did my PAP herself, the results came back absolutely normal. I'm not sure what your guys' angle is, but hire better staff and urge your Doctors, NP's, and PA's to deliver test results in a better way. ACCURATE TEST RESULTS, not some bogus result to earn more money by doing unnecessary testing. Do not recommend at all, you guys have given me months of stress and anxiety. read more

I've been here twice and I'm definitely looking for a different gynecologist to go to. The thing that pisses me off the most is that they don't answer their phone calls at all!!! You call them and it tells you to text a number to get a faster response and in the beginning they would answer my texts but the last few times I've messaged to create an appointment no one has gotten back to me. They also never called me back with my results and never responded to any of my calls so I just assumed it was negative but who knows ! Absolutely terrible experience with Dr Gopika Are. She was cold, dismissive of pain, and rude. Do not waste your time

Very confused about all of these bad reviews-maybe they had some providers there who don't work there anymore, but this obgyn is amazing. I've had so many symptoms and been to a bunch of doctors including other gyn's and this was the first one who truly diagnosed me. She diagnosed me with something anyone whose done a sonogram on me should've said. She also referred me to a hematologist before prescribing birth control for a few reasons, something other doctors have never even suggested despite having good reason to do so. They took a blood panel right in office that genuinely discovered levels that are off. Scheduled a follow up in 2 weeks at the end of the appointment to go over results. I'm genuinely on a path to feeling better and knowing what's actually happening to my body and it's insane that some of the things I found out I've never been told before. I would HIGHLY recommend checking out this practice. For the Commack location, the receptionist let me know that they open after 2pm or so since the providers have multiple locations-I haven't had to call yet but this could be why they didn't get to the phone for the other reviews. That or again they could've hired new people because everyone I met with was a pleasure and made me feel extremely seen and heard which is beyond important. They're also available to book on Zocdoc (check out the reviews there because they're insanely different) which helped a lot because I didn't even need to call to book the appt in the first place. Long winded way to say I'm surprised about previous reviews because this practice is amazing. read more

Very disappointed! I booked an appointment online for my daughter at the Commack office. Got an email confirmation a few hours later. Six minutes after that email, I received another telling me that my daughter's appointment has been canceled. No explanation whatsoever. I called but had to hang up after being on hold for twenty minutes. I then texted them and never received a reply. That's very frustrating as they make a point to let you know that texting is the best way to contact them. It's stated on their website and in their recording while you are on hold. I'm very angry because this appointment was for my daughter. She didn't have time to get in anywhere else once we received the cancellation email. As frustrating as this experience was, it probably was a good thing that she never received medical care there. I find it hard to believe that any respectable physician would practice at such a facility. read more

If I could give this practice zero stars I would. They over book their doctors with 4 patients at the same time and only one doctor. Each time I've been I've waited well over an hour past my appointment time to see a dr. My first appoint was for prenatal because I was under the impression they delivered at KATZ per their website... well they don't. It's either mercy or south Nassau, neither of which is where I wanted to deliver. Getting an appointment by phones nearly impossible. I was on hold well over 20 minutes with two separate offices trying to talk to someone. Not to mention that the doctors give conflicting information. One doctor told me I needed to stop breastfeeding my son (hes 10 months old) immediately because of risk of miscarriage.. the next step I saw asked who told me that and that information was wrong. just do yourself and find a dr. Office who actually care and value their patients. This office just cares about the money and herds as many women through that they possibly can without regard to the quality of care they are giving in the meantime to those patients they are herding through.
