My friend recommended Gardner. We are so happy we went with Gardner pool for our remodel. We got 10 estimates and really did our homework. Gardner was super fair with pricing. We met with Dave and he was very informative and honest and easy to work with. He helped us through the process. He also helped me pick the tile and grout. Jazmin in the office is absolutely a pleasure to work with and knows how to help with everything! Josh came out and checked on the job and was great! From start to finish every step was finished when promised. We were kept informed and received text messages and voicemails for every step. They showed up on time finished the job on time. The pool turned out beautiful and perfect! I would highly recommend Gardner pool and actually already have given their name to a couple of friends.

From speaking to Jazmin (office staff is extremely polite) to setting up an appointment we couldn't be happier. Josh and Steve the supervisors were at the property every step of the way . The crew was respectful of our property and most importantly is that our pool remodel looks awesome. Pebble tec was definitely the way to go on our remodel. What a difference, definitely look at their samples.

My husband Brian and I can not say enough great things about Gardner Pool company! From beginning to end we received the best service and communication from Adam and his team. It's always stressful doing any kind of remodel, but Adam was always available to answer our questions and supervised the team to make sure the remodel went smoothly. We have since referred Gardner to a few friends and they are also big fans of Gardner. Thanks for all your hard work to make our pool exactly how we imagined it!!

Hired Gardner to do a replaster of our pool and they referred us to another company to do some paver work. Pool drain work started on June 4th and as of the morning of August 20th we are waiting for touch up work to be completed on our pool. The representatives of the company are great to work with. In fact, it was Dave's knowledge of Pools overall and his availability to help pick best options that were the reason we chose Gardner besides competitive pricing. The 3 stars are for the work and lack of attention to detail. We signed contract with start date that we used to plan our family vacation around only to find out they were starting 12 days later. It didnt give us enough time to change arrangements without incurring significant cost so that didnt sit well with us. During demo the workers left behind a LOT of dust and debris each day. Our sprinklers, plants were covered with it. Initially, the wrong coping was being placed and after letting Steve know, he quickly got it taken care of but we lost a couple days of work because of it. We chose the pebble fina in grigio color and when the workers were troweling in the pool they started to fill it before we had to chance to see it. When I got home I was so upset to see SO MUCH mottling throughout our entire pool. I took pictures and immediately sent to Steve and the owner asking for help understand why it would look so bad when it was newly installed work. Both Steve and the owner called me back assuring me that this was normal and it would all even out over the next 30 days as the pool cured. I have sent pictures showing footprints from the deep end of my pool towards the shallow end in my new pebble fina. I have sent pictures of my children's toes bleeding after swimming for only 15min when we never had issues before with white plaster that was.over 20 years old. I sent pictures of my coping that looked washed out and grout that was grey and white between one coping, grey and black between another coping or grey, white and black between another. We have coping pieces that were visibly damaged and still installed. The grout lines between coping was consistent in one area, wider in another and still wider in another. You can see cracks in our newly installed plaster on the walk in steps in the shallow end. We are disappointed in the overall experience of our pool with Gardner. Instead of acknowledging our concerns, Gardner reps who came out always told our pool looks amazing and that the grout didnt really look that bad. To fix it, they had someone come out to do an acid wash which made it look worse. Then they came out and did a sealer on it to test the results. It definitely made the grout look more even in color after but I was still mindblown that we should have had to seal brand new coping and grout in the first place. Had we had someone come out and look at the work being done each day, I thing the results would have turned out differently. It felt like our job was a "side job" and not one of importance.

Leaks in pebble tech

Quality of our pool remodel was good and the work was performed in a timely fashion. The service after the sale is where things fell apart. Had issues with tile cracks and pebble tech chunks coming up. The service department fixed cracked tiles twice under warranty and after the second time said they weren't going to fix it again even though we still had over 1 year of warranty left because the problem is our pool deck. When I asked for a quote to get the deck replaced they wouldn't take the job. We contracted a different company to do our deck and our salesman Kevin did say multiple times via phone, email and text he would ask the service manager to look at our pool when it was empty. He never followed through. Bottom line is they don't do what they say they are going to do so I suggest you roll the dice and pray nothing goes wrong or take your business elsewhere. I wish I did.

After draining

I hired GOPR to remodel my pool and spa in 2019. Their bid was competitive and given that they have a good reputation in this industry, I decided to go ahead with them, especially because for a job of this scale I wanted to go for a company who are successful in this business for a long time, is reliable and will stay in the business for years to come. Their sales rep Dave was very friendly and quick in responding to any queries. He made himself available on the weekends for the consultation. Maegan was the project manager assigned to my job and Josh was the onsite supervisor. Maegan gave me the overall schedule for the project with all major project phases outlined. The project was supposed to start in the first week of December 2019 but started a week earlier in late Nov 2019. Pool draining and demo were completed as planned. There was a hiccup before the masonry work could start due to the non-availability of the flagstone coping material selected for the job. However, Josh and Maegan coordinated well with me and helped me in selecting an alternate flagstone material. Josh has a calm demeanor, and throughout the job he patiently listened to me, answered my queries and instructed his crew to cater to my requirements. Most of the crew at work was respectful and skilled. There was one instance when I had to bring an unprofessional behavior to Josh's attention and he took care of it professionally. It took a little over 3 extra weeks than it was planned for, partly due to the rains, and the job was completed in the 3rd week of Feb 2020. I brought some observations to Maegan and Josh's attention before making the final payment. They ensured that the job was completed to my satisfaction. My family had a great time enjoying our remodeled pool and spa this summer and the ocean blue pebble sheen finish looks beautiful. A few minor grout issues surfaced up after 6-7 months which I showed to Josh. Josh and Maegan promptly addressed those issues covered under the warranty with no questions asked which is a good experience of GOPR's commitment to the customer satisfaction. Thanks to the GOPR team for the good work.

Let me start by saying we started this process to remodel our pool and deck by getting several bids. By far we were most impressed with Gardner, specifically the salesman Kevin that came to our home. It was helpful to get other bids to realize how many gray areas can come into play during this process. But Kevin went above and beyond in explaining what we needed, and visualize some additional bells and whistles that we wanted too. Pricing was higher than other quotes, but felt that it was fair in comparison to what we received and especially the quality of workmanship. Each trade that came to our home was excellent! Truly skilled tradesmen - plumbing/electrical, masons, tiling crew, plasterers, Mastic installer, the project supervisor - Steve (who always took our calls), and even the start up crew - who patiently walked us through the process. They all felt like family after they were done, and most important they took pride in their work. As with most projects, we hit some bumps along the way, mainly in terms of project delays, which we believe was out of Gardner's control. Maegan and Jazmin did a great job at scheduling and prioritizing us when possiband helping us with questions along the way. Overall, we were very impressed with the entire Gardner Team, and we are very grateful! Our pool and pavers are absolutely stunning! It turned out so beautiful!! We can't thank them enough for making it happen in time for an event at our home, which by the way happened as planned! We are so grateful to the whole Gardner Team for doing such a professional job on our pool! Thank you!!

Update 3: Now I'm some secretly disrespectful person (first I'm hearing of my alleged bad behavior)…read morewho plotted all along to take screenshots of our communications (that live in text threads) for deceitful purposes. Please stop updating your responses to change the story and accuse me of some new bad behavior. The texts are our communications, I didn't call you and "press you". There are no other communications. They also speak for themselves. Adding a screenshot of your prior edited comment. Update 2: Last update and lowered my rating from a 2 to a 1 star to reflect the now edited response that no longer says I "haggled" for a faster time and suggests for the first time that the glass didn't break "on its own". So I'm adding a picture of the glass, and another text screenshot where Mike refers to spontaneous breakage and asking the glass company if it's under warranty. Not sure why he's ask them if it was under warranty if it didn't break on its own. Update: I am not surprised that Mike responded. I never "haggled" to get it done sooner. If I had, I'd be pretty bad at haggling for it to take 3.5 months for it to not get done. But as I said, I have receipts. I would not recommend working with Hicks. I have had a series of issues, but held off on a critical review since he would previously try to resolve the issues. I hired Hicks to install a patio railing. The work was done fairly quickly, but after less than a year, one of the cables had fallen off. Hicks came back and repaired it without additional cost, which I appreciated. Next I had Hicks install a glass and wood balcony. I wasn't happy with the quality of the work or the state of the job site, and again Hicks apologized and came back to make it better and clean up the mess. He was at times defensive, but again, I appreciated him fixing the errors. Less than a year after the balcony was installed, a glass panel shattered. There was no impact or area of impact, suggesting it was from a glass manufacturing defect. He told me the warranty on the glass he used was only for 6 months from installation (even for defective glass), so I'd need to pay for a new sheet of glass, but he would install it without additional charge. The glass shattered in mid October. It's now February. Hicks' communication has been really challenging. I pushed and pushed to get it installed and it took months to even get scheduled. On January 9th, the day he was supposed to arrive to install, he didn't show at the agreed upon time, and only later responded after I had reached out about him being a no-show to let me know that strong wind had blown over the replacement glass and it broke. I was very frustrated because this was January and he had initially told me it would be a few weeks to get the glass replaced (which would have been November). Had it been installed in an even remotely timely manner, it wouldn't have blown over and broken. So I asked when the new glass would arrive, he said about a week. I asked him if he could please schedule me for a couple weeks out so we have something scheduled and I wouldn't have to wait months again. He said yes, but didn't actually schedule me. I started messaging a couple times a week with no response - again, said the new glass should be arrive in about a week on January 9th. Yesterday I messaged saying I needed an update, and he told me the whole thing was too stressful and he's not doing it anymore. So I waited 3.5 months for him to replace defective glass that he had offered to replace (with me paying the cost of the glass), and then he just decided he's not going to do it. I was patient and incredibly reasonable through all of these issues, but the defensiveness and failure to communicate and follow through isn't professional. I have receipts for all of these communications.

First off: we love our custom door, it continues to be a highlight of our home (super important making a great impression as people enter). It swings easily and is super stable. Recently the bolt holding the door frame to the wall came loose (likely from a mix of daily use and our shifting soils here in San Clemente). Not entirely surprising that there'd be some "settling in" given that it's a fairly massive completely custom door - but still, it had been over a year since the Hicks team finished the job. I emailed and asked: is this sort of thing covered? Well... Myke came out personally and spent the better part of two hours fixing the issue - not only thoroughly reinforcing the door frame but also upgrading the other side of the frame with a new customer stopper to increase security but also improve the operation of the door. It's been almost 18 months since install and Myke came out free of charge. Went well above and beyond and shook my hand and wished me well. If you think "good people doing good work" is hard to find... I hope you find this review, and give Myke Hicks a call.

Martin did a great job custom making wood panels for me as my residence is relatively old and no sidings matching the original ones were available in the market.
