The place is dated needs a revamp. Waiter was nice enough and the best part of the meal was the bread and sangria. Tuna appetizer was very small, expensive and not good. It comes with a full roasted side of garlic to enjoy. The French onion garlic soup was good but we preferred the garlic chowder was better. We went on a early Sunday evening. Made reservation but wasn't necessary as there were plenty of tables. Nice little dining area. Service was good. If you like garlic, you will like Garlic Rose. They do serve complimentary bread with green dipping sauce( needed salt) and roasted garlic which was nice. We also had garlic shrimp for an app which was good and sauce was great for dipping the bread. My husband had the Veal Francaise which he said was good, well prepared. He did say the veal was tough. I had Salmon oreganto which was also good. I agree with previous reviewer that needed some salt as it was alittle bland. The name is fitting. Everything tasted like garlic and it wasn't appetizing. The chicken carbonara was heavy and bad. The artichoke appetizer tasted like oil and garlic. Came here for dinner a couple of weeks ago with Boo Boo and her bro (my favorite bro in law). I've knew about this many years ago because my coworkers would come here for fancy lunches with out me and brag how good the food was. We were seated at a large table even though we didn't have have dinner reservations on a Saturday night. The complimentary roasted garlic was okay. We ordered the French onion and the mussels in green sauce. Those two items were great for mopping up with the toasty rolls. I initially ordered the braised short ribs but was informed I made up that dish because they weren't serving it that night when we had our salads. So, I ordered the pork chops. The chops was just okay a d I am not sure what side came with it. I think mashed potatoes. I think I got the menu that wasn't updated so our entrees came out at later. Boo Boo got the garlic shrimp with angel hair. BroLaw got the Diablo pasta. It was like a spicy vodka sauce. That was best entree we ordered. Boo Boo's pasta was only luke warm and the pasta was mushy. We were kinda stuffed as all the bread we ate were being registered to our brains to put on the brakes. Garlic Rose is absolutely amazing! I have been there twice for dates with my boyfriend and they never disappoint! I even think we got the same waitress both times. The atmosphere is so nice and makes everything so special! I think that it is great how the employees are so sweet. The food is literally so amazing! The penne ala vodka is so creamy and the cheese on top just makes it 100% better! The pasta carbonara was also incredible and creamy as well! It just tasted so amazing, best I have ever tried! This place is sooo delicious! Their sangria is so yummy and the bread is hot and fresh! The pesto and garlic bulb really make the meal. We started with the garlic shrimp and our sweet waitress gave us more bread for dipping it into the sauce (highly recommend doing this) we had the chicken francese which was the best I have ever had and their famous French onion pork chop! The food here was delicious from beginning to end. There was nothing to critique. Even the service was absolutely amazing. The lobster bisque was the best I've ever had. There were good sized lobster pieces in it and it was seasoned beautifully. The pasta was heaven. The server was right when he said the house made vodka sauce was delicious. I don't usually order pasta when I go out but this was emasculate. So flavorful and so saucy it was mouthwatering. And they put a lot of the meat in it too so you get it in each bite. The best Italian food that I have had in the area! The restaurant was old school and had an authentic charm to it! The servers and owner provided amazing service and the food was so tasty and fresh! We come here at least once or twice a year for special occasions because the food is always reliably delicious. We had the garlic shrimp for appetizer, which is the ABSOLUTE BEST. The bread and garlic dip are a truly dangerous combo. We can never stop eating it, so by the time dinner comes we're usually already pretty full! My husband had the french onion pork chop (a very large-sized pork chop), I had the steak tips with egg noodles stroganoff (not typically on their menu), and my daughter had the chicken francaise (she always gets this because the chicken is so tender and the sauce is so tasty). About a week ago, I dragged myself into Garlic Rose Bistro, completely exhausted after spending the day with my hospitalized daughter. The owner promptly got me a menu and helped me select something that could be plated to go quickly. He then told me that the meal was on the house, and that I should just worry about caring for my daughter. Two nights ago I returned for a late supper with my brother after visiting the hospital. The food was delicious, the service was impeccable, and the atmosphere was quiet. I had the carbonara and my brother had the garlicious penne. Both were excellent, and the penne is my new favorite. Their "secret recipe" dipping sauce served with warm rolls and a roasted head of garlic is to die for! Garlic Rose is now at the top of my list of restaurants in Cranford, not only for their kindness and compassion for someone in a difficult situation, but because it is a terrific restaurant! read more

I came here pre lock down and their food is always amazing. I'm a huge fan of the garlic bulb with bread in the beginning of the meal. Every dish is loaded with garlic (hence the name) - which I truly appreciate. Their penne vodka is just out of this world wonderful. I always go back to it - can't help it. Also, all their cocktails and wines pair so well with each meal. The staff is always friendly, attentive, and on top of their game here. We live music playing as well, I would recommend trying this place, there was not one person in our group that did not like it. Took my wife there for her birthday and although the food was very good we were super disappointed that they removed a few amazing dishes from the menu that always brought us back. The Stacked Chicken and Artichoke app are no longer on the menu. Those dishes we would never be able to order anywhere else. Our server who was so great told us that we should call ahead next time to see if they had the ingredients to make it. So disappointed and not sure if we will be back anytime soon or recommended. Visited the garlic rose bistro with my family on Sunday and had not only a wonderful meal but a wonderful experience. The garlic and the bread that they give you prior to the meal is absolutely wonderful. The garlic shrimp appetizer simply melts in your mouth with the garlic and herbs, simply delicious. Mark took up on it himself to recommend and make himself my mother a wonderful meal. On a recent business trip, my coworker and I stopped here for dinner. We chose this place based on the high reviews and I'm so glad we ventured here! Not knowing what to expect, we made reservations beforehand, but the restaurant had plenty of seating. There were many patrons in their main dining room, and my coworker and I were seated to the left of the kitchen. We were greeted immediately and received excellent service throughout our meal. The server brought out bread with a side of their garlic rose bread dip and fresh roasted garlic. I skipped on the bread but my coworker loved their dip; she said it was fresh and delicious. My order came with a side salad and I loved the fresh, crisp vegetables. For my main, I ordered the Penne Vodka Bolognese: Fresh ground veal, pork and beef in a fresh garlic vodka sauce with sweet onions and mushrooms. Tossed with penne pasta. This was so incredibly tasty and delicious! It turned out to be one of the best dishes I had in the entire week I spent in NJ. The sauce was phenomenal, the meat was cooked perfectly, and the pasta was just right. I finished entirely too much of the dish at the restaurant as I could not stop myself, and then I packed the rest to-go and ate more in my hotel room that evening. It really is that good. Loved the head of roasted garlic and the herb with olive oil that they give you in the beginning. It was so good with the fresh warm bread that they have gave you. Yum. We had the garlic shrimp as appetizer and that was excellent. Tons of garlic in the flavor. And very generous portion. For entree I had their stuffed chicken and that was cooked perfectly. It came stuffed with spinach, roasted tomato in this creamy white garlicky sauce. Very yum. I had a side of roasted asparagus instead of the potato and it was very good. I regret waiting so long to try this place out because it is one of the best italian restaurants I have eaten at. For starters, they bring out hot fresh bread with a head of roasted garlic and a herb olive oil. That itself was amazing. They also bring out a salad to start. Literally a flavor explosion, I guess it's called Garlic Rose for a reason! My boyfriend got the Garlic and Onion soup in a bread bowl, which is supposed to be like a french onion. He said it was the best soup he's ever had (and he eats a lot of soup)! We also ordered the carbonara and the garlicy vodka pasta. Everything was literally a 10/10. They could have put a little more into the cup to make it look like you were getting more than a half a cup. I had the filet mignon bites. Very tasty it's a keeper. I also had an old fashioned.
