All in all, wasn't too impressed.. but was trying not to judge too harshly due to our past horrible experiences with WNDP. In the 2 months we used this place, we probably used daycare/boarding 6-7 times. We told the staff upfront that due to past trauma, he's a bit scared and does not like to be picked up at all. They told me they understood and it was all good, every dog is different. It wasn't a problem. Because other than that, he's super friendly. Every time I picked him up after daycare or boarding, they'd tell me he did great, he's so friendly, he loves running around with certain dogs, etc etc. I trusted them, obviously. The next time we left him at daycare, we picked him up and were told that he snapped a staff member, later to find out, she didn't read his file and tried to pick him up. And then I was penalized for that and given a warning... even though I let them know up front that they cannot do that because he is scared... A week or so later, we drop him off again for daycare one more time, he comes home with an eye infection. Which cost us $80 for medication to fix. We haven't taken him back since. Yesterday I received a message from a former employee there, saying she knows first hand that they do not like my dog and deemed him aggressive and had him in a cage most of the day instead of socializing. My heart completely sunk. I was being told (other than that one day) that he was great and they loved him and he played all day long. If I knew they felt that way about my dog, I wouldn't have brought him there. They just lied to my face. Who does that? I definitely don't trust these people. Wouldn't go back. Beware. read more

I just love these guys! My dog, Choco, went to Hound Hangout for about a year after I moved into a small studio apartment in downtown. I felt bad about leaving him alone in a tiny apartment while I was at work so I decided to try this place out. He would go about 3-4 days a week, and loved it! Every time I would pull up he would get super excited, and then drag me all the way to the door! When I picked him up, he always smelled better than when I left him unlike a lot of other daycares where they come home smelling worse. They also do fun activities for the dogs for the holidays which is awesome. I've since moved to a house in Puyallup, so unfortunately he doesn't go there regularly anymore. But this place is and will always be my go to for boarding. Chelsea and the staff are GREAT! Oh, and did I mention they also do grooming, too! read more

My pup Stella loves the hound hangout! We moved here from San Diego and Stella had a hard time adjusting to our new home and being alone. We felt she would do well at a daycare in the afternoons while we worked. Chelsea (owner) and staff are great with dogs! I really don't have enough good things to say about The Hound Hangout. We have a young, very high energy pup (a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever), and when we pick her up from a day spent at HH, she's completely tuckered-out and very, very happy. Chelsea (the owner) and the rest of the staff are all wonderful. My boyfriend and I recently had our pup in boarding over the weekend w/ HH, and the gal that was watching her texted me updates with how our pup was doing, in addition to sending pictures of what she'd been up to. It was really a huge weight off of our minds to know and see that she was doing so well, but it wasn't surprising in the slightest; the folks here clearly know what they're doing. I would recommend the Hound Hangout to any dog-owners looking for a daycare that they can trust and feel confident in the knowledge that their pup is being well cared-for. read more

I love this place! Max has been going to Hound Hangout since he was 4 months old, and thinks everyone there are his best friends in the whole world. He LOVES HH days, and is exhausted and calm the next. My friends know "the Max Show" is T/TH and tune in on the HH webcams to watch the antics. We're addicted! And I'm grateful that HH is there. Note: I find it odd that Yelp filtered a number of 5-star reviews but displays a 1-star from a guy denying he hit on the owner, Christy. (I'm guessing he did, she's beautiful). Don't believe any of us - tune into the web cams and watch the dogs frolic. But be careful, it's addictive! read more

Love this place! I started working longer hours and didn't want to leave my min-pin at home all day all week. A neighbor recommended the Hound Hangout and I am not disappointed. After a meet and greet my dog got the green light to attend and I paid for 8 days a month. He loves it! According to the staff, he has a few regular doggy friends and seems to enjoy himself. When I pick him up they have to coax him to the front and it's hard to wrangle him home because he doesn't want to leave. There's a really great assortment of dogs from super big great Danes, to little weiner dogs. The employees are nice and super excited when they great the dogs at the door. I recommend this option to anyone who wants to get their dog out and socialized, exercised and active when they find themselves working a little more than usual. read more

I have been thrilled with the Hound Hangout, and so has my otherwise nervous, awkward pup. He loves jumping in the car now since it usually means a trip to HH - he used to tremble and have to be scooped up. Playing with the other dogs and socializing with the calm, friendly ladies that work here has really built his confidence. Despite all the different sizes and personalities of the dogs, everyone gets along swimmingly, which says a lot about the care and attention HH gives the pups. Their hours are convenient, pricing is more than fair, and I love having the option of adding a bath and nail trim. My dog comes home tired and happy after a long day of romping. I looked at almost a dozen daycare facilities when we moved to Tacoma last year and I am SO glad we chose the Hound Hangout! read more

Update: The girl Christy called me a few days ago to gripe about the review. I told this individual to not call back. She did anyhow. In response, I had to tell her that if she called again, I would have to call the police for harassment. I guess this places has no bounds. The lesson learned here is that, as we all know, anyone can put on a happy face. And we all think that it can never happen to us. Good dog places have cams you can watch. This place doesn't. They are super friendly and do a great job grooming my dogs. I go there monthly and am always pleased.

Pretty disappointing. Our puppy was getting pretty jacked up waiting while I filled out their paperwork. Their whole "stay in the waiting area on a leash while dogs pass by you and go into the play area for 15 minutes" doesn't really work for a 10 month old who loves to go to daycare. The woman behind the counter just couldn't even. "Is he socialized at all?" she asked with her nose curled up like she just got a whiff of poo. "Yes" I said, "he goes to daycare somewhere else two days a week and plays off leash with other dogs every weekend" I was a little concerned when we left him because they already were treating him like he had "trouble" tattooed on his forehead. But I figured it would be ok because he always does really well with other dogs. Well, they gave him about 20 minutes before they decided they didn't want to deal with him. Humping and nipping they said. Since he doesn't usually hump and hasn't nipped anyone since he was a much younger puppy, I'm wondering what was going on and why they couldn't gain control. They had another meet and greet scheduled for 9am so I'm guessing they couldn't be bothered to take the time. Or maybe they are afraid of bully breeds. Anyway, his heightened state of excitement was not helped by the way the intake was handled and he wasn't given much of a chance. read more

We have been taking our Black and Tan to Hound Hangout for several years and we are completely satisfied. She come home tired and all she wants to do is eat and sleep. She is sometimes the first dag there in the morning and we are told she loves to be the greeter. When we pick her up at the end of the day we have to pull on her lead so that she will get in the car, she wants to stay with her buddies. Sheba goes three days a week and I think that if she went anymore we would have to carry her outside to do her business. With the exercise that she gets at Hound Hangout she does much better on her walks and id a better companion for all of us. The staff is always polite and helpful and how they take care of our pup. read more

Holy smokes these folks are the best. I take two dogs there a couple of days a week and they have the best time. Indoor and outdoor play, swimming pools in the summer and blankets in the winter. The dogs know when it's Hound Hangout day and are totally fired up, they zoom in when we arrive and have the best time when there. Five stars, two thumbs up, great place to take your dog. I've also boarded with them and again the service has been terrific. Warm recommendation for them to anyone wanting a great experience for dogs of all shapes and sizes! read more

I take my golden retriever puppy to this place, and I couldn't be happier to have found a wonderful dog daycare places in Stadium District. I feel sorry for the previous person who wrote a negative review about Hound Hangout(HH). It sounds like you had a terrible experience and hopefully the situation was corrected, but above all, that your companion friend got better from his/her injuries. I don't know the history of the place very well, but I've read that they have undergone mgt/ownership changes in the last years. Also, I don't know if your review was written some time ago but Hound Hangout actually has two cameras mounted up that are running 24/7. I frequently check them during the day between work to see how my puppy is doing. All the girls at HH have been doing an exceptional job with my puppy- they noticed when he appeared to not be feeling well so I could have him checked out, play with him, cuddle/pet him, and make sure he is playing nice with the other dogs too. They also feed him midday for me, and don't charge extra for that like other places do. And on the hot days, they pull out kiddie pools for the dogs to romp around in. They also make sure the dogs have fresh water all day. I have tried 4 different dog daycare places(kennel and non-kenneled) between Spokane, Tacoma, and Lakewood and I think this is one of the best! If you have a dog that has lots of energy and would benefit from socialization I would highly recommend Hound Hangout! read more

I've been taking my Beagle here for a year and both me, my pup and husband have had nothing but great experiences with the amazing owner Christy and her very sweet staff. These girls LOVE dogs. Specifically, they will love your precious pup as their own and go out of their way to make sure every dog is catered to, balanced and happy. I love watching my pup sniff and play on their camera and want nothing but the very best for our pup. Everyday when we get home, he's out like a light and I know he had a great day of playing which is what every owner wants. I have recommended Hound Hangout to all my family members and now my mother in law brings in her puppy and raves about them as well. I was also very disappointed in this place. I told my small dog here a few times for fun. Known for their location is the only thing they are know for. The dogs are outside in the weather all year long, there's always massive things going on behind their desk, and it seems very unsafe with large dogs running around on top of little dogs, they " have" Web cams if you can actually see on it goos luck. The women there aren't very presentable, and seemed a bit sour. We go to a different daycare, and we luv. read more

I did a lot of research when we moved to Tacoma in search of a dog daycare for our precious pooches, after all they are our family. And we love this place enough to entrust them with their care. The owner & her staff LOVE dogs & go the extra mile all the time with their charges. I thoroughly appreciate the report on how my dogs spent their days, they don't just ignore them. They actually care enough that they play with, engage & make note of how the dogs interact. They also surprised us with the BEST Christmas portrait of our babies in hats & ties on a little sleigh. (Sadly it turned out to be one of the last portraits of our baby puggle who lost his battle with cancer, & this picture means even more to us. It has a special place in our hearts.) And they took delicate care with our beagle when he was dealing with his grief. Also important, they won't let dogs adopted from outside the country in because they come with infectious diseases that aren't treatable and/or curable in our country. They care that much about the integrity & health of their customers & dogs. Also, they have 1 whole building to lower energy dogs & 1 for higher energy dogs. And they are one of the last places to have outside areas for play in Tacoma. Prices are reasonable & they even offer multiple dog discounts & the baths are very affordable! This place totally screwed us and almost ruined our vacation. Made an appointment to board our dog for a week. At the scheduled time when they were supposed to meet us, with the contract, nobody showed up. Nobody answered the phone. And nobody responded to an email. Finally a FB msg got an apology blaming us, for not responding to a phone call that we never got. We spent the 3 hours before our flight to London scrabbling to find another board. We have been taking our American Eskimo dogs here for 7 years. Christy, the owner, is the the 3rd owner of this business during our dogs' tenure there. During the years our oldest dog has gone from being in the prime of his life to geriatric. We added a rescue eskie to our family and now take him to this daycare. It is the highlight of their week and believe me, they know which days are "daycare days". If for some reason they don't get to go on a normal daycare day, they are bummed. One of the great things about this place is that they have cameras on the indoor and outdoor play areas. So you can watch your dog play and interact with the girls. I have been so happy with this place that I have gladly recommended it to friends and co-workers. Now there are at least 5 or 6 of us from our building that all take our dogs there. read more

We love this place....our two dogs Oscar and Winston have been going to the hound hangout for a couple months and are treated wonderfully. The owners are making constant improvements to the facility and always doing fun activities with the dogs. The dogs are safe, get lots of exercise, and have tons of fun there.
