I would have thought that such a prime spot would have great food, however this was not the case. The attitude of the cashier was curt and unfriendly through comments made to me about a couple questions I had. The batter is brutal. It's not crispy and so soggy that it fell off most of the cod pieces and the squid I ordered. I was also told the squid came with dipping sauce and none was provided. Most of the cod pieces were thin and when the batter fell off there was not a great amount of fish to scoop up any tartar and made it hard to eat. The only saving grace was that the squid was actually really good quality and very tender but since it was covered in poor batter and came sauce-less I can't really rave about it. The fries are dry and mediocre. The worst part is the price. For 2.5 people to eat and share a drink it was $74 - yikes! And for it not to be good either - ouch. The juggernaut burger was good but small for $23. To add insult to injury I felt terrible after eating there. I assume it was the batter that didn't sit well. So disappointing. read more

My sister brought me to this place and to my surprise the fish is really good, moist and the batter was really good. The fries are really good too. Attitude of the servers really really suck. They seem tot think they're holding something precious that you want and you only receive service if they decide you are worthy. It's fish and chips for God's sake! Get over yourselves! To add to awfulness, music is blasting so loud it's difficult for anyone to hear your order without needing to shout it. Today was busy and we waited about 20 minutes to order and another 30 minutes to get our meal. The chips were old and cold, probably sitting there for way too long! I disliked it and wanted to toss it away the minute I took my first bite. But so tried to be civilized. I did end up throwing it away after I ate the two stingy pieces of fish. If I knew it'd be horrible, I would've never tipped! So a TIP lesson for me is to never tip without knowing what the food tastes like and how the service is! This location was SO BUSY! Extremely nice weather, lots and lots of people in the park = means a real challenge in finding parking. I was temporarily parking on the lot also shared by Boathouse, and I was lucky that a car pulled out and left the lot and I quickly got the spot. Previous to this I was circling around the area within 1-2 km radius and no available parking spots. Anyway, Pajos fish and chips! Came here for a walk around Rocky Point. After the walk we decided to treat ourselves to fish n chips and tacos. We were fist in line. The service was prompt. They opened 10 minutes early as there were already customers hovering around (including us). We were served with generous servings of cod fish tacos in flour tortillas. The fish was plump and juicy. I'm a fan of corn tortillas so I wish it is also an option. And oh the fish n chips was a delight. It was served in a newspaper like parchment paper which I found unique and appealing. The tables have holes on them to accommodate the triangular shaped serving. When you come you'll get what I mean. The experience was so pleasant. You feel like you're one with the community. I haven't had really good fish and chips until I came to Pajo's. Look for the bright yellow umbrellas at Rocky Point Park in Port Moody. They also have other locations at the YVR Airport and Richmond. They offer 100% Vancouver Aquarium Ocean Wise seafood. There are many options available with a choice of wild salmon, cod, or Alaskan halibut fish & chips with yummy tartar. The fries are bottomless. I had the two piece halibut with fresh cut fries with good portions of each. I was pleasantly surprised that there was little batter, halibut was moist, and wasn't greasy tasting. They also offer seafood tacos and burgers. If you love (good) fish and chips, I highly recommend Pajo's. Try the other seafood choices such as tacos. Forget the burgers as you can get that anywhere. Grayson and I have been wanting to go to Pajo's for their fish and chips for a while now. With the weather turning, it was finally sunny enough for us to grab some. Pajo's is known for their world famous fish and chips. There are a few locations around the lower mainland including one in Port Moody, Richmond, and Vancouver. Pajo's offers a variety of items on their menu but we were here for fish & chips so we went with the basic pacific wild cod & bottomless fries. If you're feeling adventurous they also offer fried salmon and halibut. For a more filling option, they have burgers and tacos. We ended up ordering fish and chips with coleslaw. They only offer 1 piece and 2 pieces options but you can add extra pieces for $5.75 if you would like more. Grayson added on the coleslaw because he was curious about how they made the ones here. I'm not a fan of coleslaw but the one here was pretty tasty. There wasn't a whole lot of mayo coating it and the cabbage was still crunchy! Now for the star of the show....the fish was amazing! The cod was flaky and the batter was light and crispy. I'm not a huge fan of fish and chips because I don't like it when the batter is too thick or greasy but it's not the case here. The pieces of fish were all golden in colour and fried to crunchy perfection. The chips were crispy along the edges and soft on the inside. Plus, they're bottomless! The batter on the fish js very crunchy and the fish piping hot and flakey inside when you enjoy it on the grass or by the water. The battered fish is a bit heavy so I never really get to finish the fries after *gasps*. Due to the pandemic the meal is not served in their signature newsprint cone but on trays in paper bags. They include all kinds of condiments in the bag without you having to ask, including malt vinegar. The fish pieces are good size and the fries are perfect. Batter is a bit on the oily side compared to Austin fish house but I am ok with it. They put all the condiments except tartar sauce out on a self serve stand. Staff cashier is usually a young female and today we encountered an exceptional al bright young lady who ha dlendiffiult customwrs and complicated orders extremely well. We presented our birthday promotional offer of buy one get one free and she quickly took our order with no question asked. Fountain drink machine is self serve and exposed to many wasps which could be very annoying for customers trying to fill their cups. Need a wasps management tool. This is the fourth time that we had tried Pajo and their quality has always been consistent. Love the Frank's hot sauce, Sirarcha, ketchup, vinegar and lemon wedges that are all self serve. All food has little to no salt (perhaps catering to low-sodium population) so you will definitely want to load up on the sauces. Seating wise it is outdoor benches with sun umbrella. Nothing fancy. You pay the price to eat in the park. For same amount of money you can get a bigger portion and tastier Wild cod at Austin fish house. A great place to come and enjoy fish and chips, in the park here at Rocky Point, with the nice water, the mountains in the background, and some oily goodness going down your stomach, what could be better. There are line ups here on good sunny days, as I guess you could say this would be some great picnic food. The fish is battered just right, and they offer some good size options. The fries are a hit and miss affair, as sometimes, probably due to the steam build up of how they pack them on the little tray, they become soggy. The fish is the saving grace of the meal, as each piece is nicely battered, and crispy. If you come down here, and you are hungry, or if you are just getting it cause you want to try their food, be prepared to pay a price. A large order with a drink can come up to a $20 meal real fast, and I personally find that expensive for fish and chips, and you are not even in a restaurant environment. I think it's only fair I leave a review on an establishment I have eaten over the past two decades. Pajo's is exactly what it is, Fresh caught fish and chips. Don't worry, you won't be finding any cardboard fish and watery sides here. The Cod, Salmon, and Halibut are all phenomenal. Cooked to order and deliciously served with hot fries and their in house Tartar sauce. The fish is both juicy and crunchy leaving a taste of fried goodness in your mouth! Their sides are also extremely worthy of praise, their coleslaw and fries are absolutely delicious. Coleslaw is nice and sweet with a generous portion of cabbage and raisins topped with their house vinegarette & mayo. The Bottomless Chips and longer than a fat kebab at 2am with the lads, for extra flavour: Dip those bad boys in a mixture of ketchup, hot sauce, and malt vinegar for a sweet and spicy explosion. I gotta say, it doesn't seem like much, but some of the best fish & chips in the tri-cities are being served here. From what I've learned, Halibut is caught fresh every day from Stevenson, and it really shows. The fish is always cooked fresh, served in a cool newspaper on top of a heap of unlimited fries. From our cousins, they told us that Pajo's Fish & Chips was really famous in Canada. The decor and packaging of the meal itself was adorable. The fish came wrapped in newspaper in a delectable cone shape. The tables even had holes to put the cones into! The tartar sauce was creamy and buttery and a dash of hot sauce even amped up this condiment. But the best part was... BOTTOMLESS FRIES. Fries + ketchup + dash of hot sauce = HEAVENNN! Depending on how busy this (actual) fish shack is, you'll need to practice patience before getting fed. The wait times for food, can often revival that of an actual sit down restaurant. You can select from; Cod, Salmon or Halibut for the sea creature portion of your Fish & Chips. I always choose the classic Cod fish because I find the Salmon too meaty in texture and Halibut cooked in this format is a serious waste of money. The French Fries here are often rushed and not as crisp as you would like them, I suggest asking for them 'Extra Crispy' is it is busy. I realize that may add a little more time for your order, but do you really want to eat Fries that mimic a bunch of limp wet noodles? If I remember the menu correctly, they also offer Fish Tacos and a hand full of Burgers, although, strangely, only beef (or veg!) patties, no fish between buns. Standard overpriced bottles of water and bottomless fountain pop is also available. The seating is outdoors, on very aged patio tables, that someone has cut circles into the surface of. The gimmick is that since the Fish and Chips are served in the classic 'newspaper roll' style, that you insert the cone into the cut circle. We stopped by shortly after the shop opened for business. Bottomless fries and pop was a great selling feature if you are able to get a seat at one of the nearby tables. Prices were fair because of the bottomless fries and drink options. I ordered a ginger beer and one of each fish & fries. Ginger beer had a decent ginger kick. Came here at lunch on a weekday. Wasn't very busy. We had our order to go. Ordered the 2 piece Cod and chips ($11), coleslaw and lemonade ($3.50). Lemonade was really good and fresh. But it can be made at home. The cod was delicious fried just right. Their tartar sauce compliments it well. The coleslaw was a good side to have with the fish too. I didn't find the fries too greasy. My to go order was complete. They gave a lot of tartar sauce, napkins, ketchup, vinegar, pepper, salt just grab your cutlery on the way out. The weather was great and their is a lot of seating. As can be expected, it gets quite busy during the prime summer months... but how can you resist their famous, freshly-fried fish? We picked the 2 pc Halibut and Chips ($18) during our visit in July.
