Pumpkin spice ice cream with ground up graham crackers and whipped cream! So good! It's a drive up ice cream place. lol.

The experience here today is ... meh. Ice cream was runny, virtually a soft serve.

Well, I have been wanting to come here all summer. Finally, I had the chance to come for a visit ... and WAS disappointed. I saw the gluten free list of flavors. The list was fine, and I decided on a medium (two scoops). I wanted one scoop for my dog. I asked for orange- pineapple and a scoop of vanilla on the top (she's picky and won't eat "odd" flavors). It came the opposite, with the orange-pineapple on top. I asked for another dish, since there were no gluten free cone options. I scooped the orange into the other bowl and found there was MUCH MORE vanilla (for my tiny 13# dog!) ... and not much of the orange-pineapple for me. The gal was sweet and apologized. When I asked for more of the orange- pineapple, she complied. This was GOOD customer service. * HOWEVER, the orange-pineapple was very soft, and runny like a soft- serve (yuck!) The flavor was good and reminiscent of Bayers Baby Aspirin....yum! * There are no gluten free cones. Very disappointing. * The area is lovely and perfect for sitting and eating a cone...but holy mosquito! Dusk is feeding time! * The gal at the window was a bit, idk, snarky to the other two teens working. "We've got to find another way to do this!" The guy was saying to her, "well, idk, it's really not hard. It doesn't matter." Apparently, things weren't happening the way she felt they should. She was a bit, idk, bossy and I couldn't understand why it was necessary. Maybe she was bothered by my less than immediate order, due to allergies...and asking questions. Regardless, it was unprofessional and the young man and other gal who served me the ice cream were more polite and pleasant. * They DO accept credit cards, that's a GOOD thing!

Double stuffed Oreo Cone, One of my go-to ice cream spots, especially when I get this flavor!!! Not only is the ice cream so tasty, they also have pup cups which make it a perfect place to have a puppy ice cream date :)

Garside's Ice Cream is one of those places you have to visit in Southern Maine while enjoying the nice summer weather. Garside's Ice Cream stand (seasonal) is located off the beaten path and has been serving great homemade ice cream for over 50 years bringing in the crowds of loyal customers. This is my favorite stop for ice cream after spending time at OOB, heading back to Route 1. Garside's usually have about 35 or more flavors of ice cream on hand and are always coming up with new flavors each season based on customer input. My favorite flavors are Ginger, Mocha Chip, Swiss Chocolate Almond, Pistachio, and Almond Joy (they ran out last visit). They also make sundaes. banana splits, frappes, floats, ice cream sodas, and freezes. The ice cream is made with very high quality ingredients and has a very creamy and soft texture and the flavors are good and not too heavy. During hot weather, enjoy it fast because the ice cream begins to melt and drip quickly. The price for ice cream starts out at around $3 for a small one scoop cone/dish. Pints, quarts, and half gallons of hand packed ice cream is available. Garside's has very similar ice cream (texture & flavor) to another ice cream stand in Upstate NY called Moxie's (http://www.yelp.com/biz/moxies-ice-cream-wynantskill). There's no table seating, but there are wooden benches on the grass along each side of the unmarked paved parking lot (parking can get dicey when busy). So yummy!!!! My fav is the black raspberry. One scoop was plenty. The portions are decent. Love this place.

I heard they were good. Drive by everyday on my way to work. And they are only a quarter mile from where I'm living. Had all the attributes to make this spot a family local hang for us. We went, we ordered, we ate, and it rocked! The flavor names are kind of fun, but also kind of confusing. Don't be afraid to ask questions. They fun part was the person that was assisting in there got a little confused when I ordered a banana split. Better for us, we got to customize it. They were sweet, we were excited, all the workings for a good family time. The ice creams pretty darn good I must say. Definitely a spot we are going back too.

At some point, we stopped in Saco to check out a free roadside library when I noticed The Saco Scoop right next door and figured, why not get a little bit of ice cream for the drive? This small shop is located inside a little market style building and the store itself is full of random candy and souvenirs as well as the ice cream I came seeking. Like every single other time I see blue ice cream that has a name like "cookie monster" or "oreo cookie something blah blah" I ordered it and The Saco Scoop did it better then most. The woman who worked here was charming and quick to give us our scoops and get us on our way, and man, this might be the best ice cream I've ever had in the state of Maine (I haven't actually had much, but this stuff was incredible). It was so creamy, it was so flavourful, and it was so freaking good I wish I was able to stop by right now and get a few more scoops. Overall, The Saco Scoop is a truly wonderful little ice cream shop that I'm so glad I stumbled across. I very much look forward to checking Saco out on my next trip and this little ice cream shop might just be the reason we even spend the night.

The staff was super friendly and the little side window to order takeout is a nice touch as you are walking through downtown Saco. The only drawback with this one is the selection of ice cream wasn't that extensive and wide ranging but what we did have was tasty and we enjoyed it as we were looking for a different ice cream shoppe! We will be back as this is also dog friendly and walk-ins are welcome with a small amount of seating in the shop and outside of the shop.

One is flavor that shines through the cold and creamy dessert. Second is how sweet it is. Not too much so to where that's all that comes through. The last being, creamy consistency. So all in all, it's fairly simple. With this being said. Fielder's choice has been #1 for me, followed by Dairy corner in the # 2 slot. The only reason why, is that in my opinion, it's a bid too sweet for me. Otherwise it's pretty damn good over all. Today I happened to be driving by The Maine Scoop and decided to give it a shot. It's always nice to ad options when you are out and about. My wife went to the window to order for us. I wanted a coffee Oreo milkshake. She was going for the vanilla custard soft serve. A single cones worth. As soon as I had my treat in my hands. I gave a big long pull on the fat straw sticking out of the top. The first thing I noticed was a watery slurry followed by chunks of soggy Oreo. Then an extremely overpowering sickening sweet gush that took over all my senses that made my eyes snap shut in horror. My brain whirled in a panic trying to understand what just invaded my mouth. My God! I thought I was experiencing some sort of sugar coma onset. I quickly placed the cup in my holder and sat there bewildered for a few minutes. Until the wife looked at me asking, are you OK? I didn't want to sway her opinion so I just smiled and handed her the cup of disaster and said, give this a try. She enthusiastically took the cup and managed to get about a half of swig before she choked and shoved the cup away from her. Holding it at arms length she proclaimed, what in the world did they make you! We laughed for a moment until I realized I just paid $9 for this sugar slurry mess. I asked the wife to try her cone, I wanted or should say hoped that somehow my shake was some sort of mistake. It wasn't, sad to say. Her ice cream was also extremely sweet, but manageable. So, be warned, if you are anywhere near a possible diabetic. Avoid this place like a modern plague.
