I've been wanting to try this cute local ice cream shop featuring Maine dairy since we moved to Biddeford this winter, and now that it is summer we finally went. I was thrilled they had strawberry rhubarb crisp ice cream and my husband got coffee cookie - both were fantastic. The service team was super friendly and fast and the ice cream shop is nice and cool and cute inside with plenty of seating. I highly recommend. I had a scoop of the maple bourbon ice cream and it was delicious, one of the best scoops I've had. It was very rich and creamy. The service was very good and I was able to sample a couple flavors before picking this one. Five of us ordered all different flavors. As we sat eating, we all were struck by the un-creamy-ness of the product. It seemed like ice milk, and had ice crystals in it. We looked around and didn't see the term "ice cream" used anywhere in the store. However, the website and Instagram do refer to the product as ice cream. The name of the store makes one think it will be just that! The help was friendly and we do appreciate the local sourcing of ingredients. The flavors were also tasty. Sweetcream is probably my favorite ice cream in all of Maine. It is so tasty, their flavors are so unique, and I love their commitment to using local ingredients. My favorite flavor is probably the Milk & Cookies... it's their sweetcream ice cream with cookies from a local bakery. It's soooo yum. The mint chip and fluffernutter flavors are also fantastic too. Everyone that works here is super nice too. I ordered a few pints for their end-of-the-year sale and forgot to pick them up, and they were super flexible and friendly about arranging a new special time just for me. I really appreciated it! Some day, I'll get one of their ice cream cakes!! I highly recommend the homemade caramel topping though! As far as the atmosphere, this place is located inside of the space next to Portland Pie Co. It's big and open. There are only 2-3 tables for seating, but it is a cool, open atmosphere with wood flooring and brick. The ice cream counter itself is just that: a counter, but really, what else do you need for ice cream? Decor and wall menus are trendy and readable. I'm not even sure where to start with this amazing little gem hidden right in the beautiful Biddeford Mills! So we were "those people" and came about 15 minutes before closing. *forgive us!* But with how friendly the two ladies were, I would've never known they were almost done their day. They were so kind and helped us figure out which flavor would be the best! I got one scoop of the captain crunch and one scoop chocolate..... I can honestly say I've never eaten so much ice cream in one sitting through out my whole life and that was a MEDIUM cone!! The captain crunch was so completely on point, and once it started to mix with the chocolate, I was in sweet cream heaven! The maple ice cream my boyfriend had gotten had 0 sugar in it and was still soooooo satisfyingly sweet from the real maple syrup! Such a delight! What's even more amazing to me?? You can bring your canine companions there as well! As people who are always looking to include our four legged kid, this was such a great discovery! Staff was a bit unfriendly, but could also have been due to attempting to minimize contact with customers due to COVID. Hand sanitizer provided and a few outdoor, socially-distanced tables available as well. Overall, the ice cream is some of the best I've ever had. Flavors are inventive and delicious! You guys. This is hands-down the best ice cream I've ever had. Stopped into the old mill to "mill" around today and noticed a lot of people walking around eating ice cream. I figured if that many people were eating ice cream while there was still a foot of snow on the ground, it had to be good, so I headed on over to Sweetcream. Turns out, it wasn't good. It was phenomenal. I had a small dish of brown butter crunch (which by itself was outrageously good), but my husband got the same ice cream as a hot fudge sundae and dang. Just...DANG. The fudge was rich and chocolatey, the cherry was not your average chintzy maraschino, no...This thing was a rich, flavorful gourmet cherry. They even whipped up some fresh whipped cream for the top, right there on the spot. The ice cream itself is rich, but not make-you-regret-it-instantly rich. Creamy and sweet, but not too sweet. It was absolute perfection. I can see why so many people were eating ice cream in March.
