I can't say enough good things about Garth--five stars aren't adequate, but since Yelp provides me no way to give more, five will have to do. Garth was highly recommended by Cal Coast Window and Door, so I asked him to come out to our house to diagnose a leak problem we've had with a window frame. And I could easily see why he was recommended--his service is outstanding. He's extremely professional, knowledgeable and thorough, and has extensive experience. There's no question that he really knows his stuff. Plus, Garth is very personable and a pleasure to talk with, and I must add that he was kind enough to come out on a Sunday. Since our window problem actually turned out to be a roof problem and Garth doesn't do roof repair, he's setting us up with and will convey the details to a trusted roof repair person. Others might have told us to just find a roof service, but Garth is taking the time to follow up. Garth Service installed replacement glass in 20 windows this week. The team of 3 young men, Alex, Steve and Greg arrived on time. They were efficient, polite, mature and respectful of my wife and me and respectful of our home. They were very careful and did not damage anything. They wore masks at all times and cleaned up as they worked. They finished the 2 day job a half day early. The owner, Garth, came by to take a look. I called Garth Service to make some adjustments to our French doors and fix a door handle. They returned my voicemail within 24 hours and scheduled an appointment to come out. They were very thorough and explained the issues we were having and why. My doors work so much better after the adjustments they made. I highly recommend them and will absolutely call them again when an adjustment is needed. Amazing dry wall repair and paint done by Garth and his team. We recently had water damage to our walls and a call to Garth and his team took care of the problem. His team is extremely professional and punctual . It doesn't even seem like there had ever been any damage whatsoever after his team patched up the walls and did an impeccable job with the paint. We have Andersen French Doors and really didn't use them much in 20 years, until we had a need to move some furniture. The doors would not open and try to find a Andersen Dealer who will repair any door, they will sell you one though. I was quoted $450 to have someone drive from another area and then they decided we were just too far, about half an hour away. Someone we called graciously gave us the phone number of Garth. He was well worth the time and effort it took to find him. He told us his schedule was packed and we said after 20 years a week or two really didn't matter. He squeezed us in on a Sunday afternoon and figured out the problem immediately. We can now use French doors that were not useable from the time we purchased the house. It is a delicate balance to have tall hinged doors open and join together in closing. Garth showed us the issue and the adjustment was just perfect. Better yet, as he was walking toward our front door, he noticed it was not aligned correctly. I told him every winter it stuck and by summer it was sort of okay. He saw the light around the door jam and knew it was out of line. He changed out 4 screws and placed in longer ones as the original screws were not holding the door correctly. Wow! No more jammed door and door leaks. The door opens and closes without tugging it. Thank you. Garth is a professional and showed us the adjustment was just off by a 1/4 turn. Boy am I glad we contacted him and did not go through with our original plan! Garth is VERY knowledgeable and professional. He explained everything in full, recommended the best products and methods for our home window replacement, and he and his team did an excellent job replacing the windows, restuccoing around them, and now painting our house. Garth is a magician as a contractor. He is meticulous, experienced, knowledgable, and easy to work with. He installed three high end patio doors for my home years ago, and they have been terrific. I just had him back to replace several more slider doors and a kitchen window. He spent time taking careful measurements and making suggestions. During this most recent installation, he came with Davis, they were efficient, careful, and spotlessly neat. They even helped me move a very heavy fridge before they left! My husband I were looking into replacing a few windows that would no longer stay open. Everyone else who came by to give us an estimate were only focused on actually replacing them. Garth was the first one who told us that we could actually REPAIR our windows! We were happy to learn this since we definitely did not want to spend thousands on replacing 4 windows. Garth was very communicative. He responded to my calls and texts promptly. He got the work done quickly and we were very satisfied. In addition, I asked him about little things here and there around my house that needed fixing. For example, my master bedroom door was no longer hitting the strike plate, thus it wasn't closing properly. I tried DIYing the issue, and it worked until the weather changed. If I could give zero stars I would. This guy totally took advantage of my situation. First, I called him the day before to ensure that everything was a go and that he would be picking the Andersen door panels (a total of 12) up from Dolan's (where they were delivered). He sent me a text reply saying we were a "Go". Then his guys showed up the next day WITHOUT the doors. I was under the gun and Garth said it would cost me more! Then he said it would cost more per panel for the doors that went upstairs. Then it was more $ because the doors showed up unpainted. They would have to come back on Saturday. Overtime $$$ Only to find out that he told some of his crew not to work on Friday so he didn't pay them OT for Saturday (yet he charged me!!!!). On Saturday, the crew arrived and said they couldn't install one of the double doors because of some crown molding. That was going to cost me more to have them rip it out only they would not be responsible for putting it back up. Are you kidding me? I called in the Marines! (Literally). When my Marine showed up the whole story changed!!!! I was still charged the $580 and the $380 extra for overtime. The icing on the cake was when he tried to say that two of the panels were damaged and I had to work with Andersen to replace them. It's a funny thing... all of the old doors went away on his truck. The two doors that were supposedly damaged (NOT) went away in his other van (I took pictures). One of his crew told me that they were going to either outfit his ex-wife's house or to be resold. This guy is a scum bag. I wouldn't do any work or recommend him to anyone. I hope you can live with yourself Garth. read more
