A cute little diner type restaurant in the middle of nowhere. Dennis and I were on our way back from Keene on Rt 101 and we came over the hill to find this little place. We had the lunch menu, however they offered us both breakfast and lunch menus at 2:15pm. We both had roll up sandwiches: Mine was a cheese burger with bacon, grilled onions, lettuce, and tomato. Dennis had tuna. Both came with a choice of a side dish of either fries, veg, applesauce, potato salad, or chips. The advertise daily specials as well as many homemade pies. Both sandwiches were good and satisfying. The staff friendly and hospitable. The interior could use a bit of updating as the wall paper was all stained. Yuck. read more

I'm in here maybe once a week since I live nearby. This is good, basic diner fare, which I adore. Service is always friendly. I have my favorite seat in the front next to my little scaled friend, Bubbles. Note: this is not het actual name; it's what I call her. She likes to cast a googly eye at me when I say hey. Pro-tip: don't sit by Bubbles' heater in the summer. About now, November, it'll be just right. My favorites go between anything with corned beef hash and anything with kielbasa. Gary's Harvest Restaurant (on Main St) has returned to Wilton and opened up a new restaurant in late 2016 along Main Street in the former Antonia's Greek Kitchen space. The new Gary's is under new ownership, same family and owned by the son of the former owners of the old Gary's Harvest Restaurant, which used to be located along Route 101 in West Wilton at the bottom of Temple Mtn. Their old restaurant building was taken over by Oliver's. The place was renovated into a casual full service breakfast and lunch restaurant, which has rows of booths & tables and counter seating in the back, and like the old Gary's, each table has a vase of colorful flowers and a tricky triangle peg game. The walls are painted royal blue with white painted wood trim, floors are hardwood and the walls are decorated with various framed Boston sports posters. The menu offerings are similar to the old Gary's restaurant. The breakfast menu offerings include egg dishes (benedicts, 3 egg omelettes, skillets), hash, pancakes, French toast, muffins, bagels, and sides. The lunch/dinner menu offerings include appetizers, homemade soups & chowders, salads, sandwiches, wraps, burgers, chicken, seafood dinners & baskets, comfort dishes, and homemade desserts. A kids menu (12 & under) is offered and daily specials are posted in the back. On the back of the menu, there are several prayer verses from the Bible. I stopped in here for lunch very recently after watching the local parade. It was seat yourself and I found an open table in the front window, which has a great view of the Town Hall Theatre across the street. The waitress promptly arrived to take my drink order and I requested a lunch menu, though breakfast is served anytime. I took a few moments to decide on lunch. I was leaning towards fish & chips or a reuben with chips & pickle, but I ultimately went with the Veggie Lasagna ($10.25) served with Side Salad & Texas Toast. The food took about 30 minutes to be served after ordering, though the place was steady with customers, some larger groups finishing up. The Veggie Lasagna was served very hot with layers of soft noodles, cheeses, carrots, spinach, topped with melted cheddar jack & parsley. The side salad on the same plate had fresh leafy greens, tomato, red peppers, red onions, & creamy bleu cheese on the side. The slice of thick Texas toast was soft and buttery. After I finished, the waitress was all set to bring the check, but I requested dessert. I ordered the Fried Dough French Toast Sundae ($5.99) with topped with vanilla ice cream, maple syrup and whipped cream, sprinkled with powdered sugar & cinnamon sugar. This dessert was excellent and yummy! The thick slice of Fried Dough French Toast was deep fried quick, coated in a thin crispy layer on the outside. This breakfast dessert strikingly reminds me of the Corn Flake French Toast breakfast dessert served at "famous" Koko Head Cafe in Honolulu, which is a deep fried thick slice of French toast coated with corn flakes topped with billionaire's bacon and frosted flake gelato. The Gary's version has no bacon, but topped with whipped cream and less than half the price ($5.99 here) of the very popular Hawaiian brunch place ($14 there). Overall, I enjoyed the food at the new Gary's Harvest Restaurant on Main St, which was tasty and the portions were just right. The service here was laid back, no hurry. Another great breakfast place in the eastern Monadnock region. It is right on Rt. 101 on the west end of Wilton. Great place to stop if you are heading to Peterborough or Keene. It has your standard breakfast staples, including some really great eggs benedict. They serve homemade muffins as well (try it grilled). Daily specials are on the board next to the door. It's not a very big place. Seats about 24 in the main dining room and another 12 or so at the counter. The only wierd thing is the back of the menu has bible quotes. You won't find "Jesus Pancakes" ("He died to make you these heavenly delights") or "Holy Spirit Coffee" ("One sip and your soul is saved"), but it is definitely against the norm. Great place to stop for a bite to eat. I came after a hike. Clean. Attentive service. They serve breakfast food all day. There are specials posted on the wall. Last time they had varies seafood (fried clams, fish and chips, etc.). The menu offers a simple selection. I wouldn't divert too far from sandwiches, burgers, specials. It's a nice place, but not high end. On the flip side, the prices are very reasonable. There are a lot to choose from under $10. Not worth the drive if you're not in the area, but if you are, you'll be happy you stopped here. read more

These people are totally lost. I work nearby and sometimes go to get a simple meal and it is ALWAYS wrong, but slow to make up for it! Today I called and ordered a chicken caesar salad, no croutons, to go. I showed up twenty mins later and it wasn't ready. It took another 10mins for them to overcook a scrawny dry chicken breast, and then drop it on top of a small helping of ICEBERG Lettuce. They did give me a small cup of caesar dressing and another of parmesan cheese. Total price $9.83. At least they remembered no croutons. Stay away! read more

We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday. It took just over 1 hour and 15min for two orders of french toast, egg benedict, and a breakfast skillet. The waiter was kind and clearly embarrassed but might have handled the wait differently. First we had to ask for coffee refills. Then, when the kids couldn't stand it any longer I had to ask for some toast for them. The waiter remarked, "wow, you were hungry" when the toast disappeared in 30sec. Yes, most folks come to a restaurant because they are hungry. No offers of more while we waited. Then the plates came out-- after 75min -- they came one at a time and without coffee. My eggs benedict arrived first which the table devoured before I hardly got a bite, then the kids' french toast, and by the time the skillet was ready we had to put it directly into a take out container because we were just so late for where we were going. The potatoes were very greasy, and the rest of the food was simple but tasted fine. They did not comp any of our order, not even the one we ran out of time to eat. This was not just our table. No one had food and they kept seating new customers without telling them there was going to be an hour wait for their food. Clearly there was an issue in the kitchen. From the other reviews, it seems this isn't the first time. It is probably best just to let customers know what is going on and let them make a decision about whether they want to wait, leave, or change their order to premade baked goods. read more

Tried this diner for the first time this past Saturday and decided on a late breakfast. We both had a skillet breakfast, one bacon skillet, and one hash skillet. The menu said it came with home fries, bacon or hash, then eggs then cheese on top with toast. It was slow to come out and arrived with both plates having stone cold toast gooped up with margarine that was put on when the toast was already cold. The bacon skillet's eggs were ordered over easy and arrived solid and cold. The hash skillet arrived with one overdone egg and one that was ok. (Figure out what happened in the kitchen with that one?) The home fries were scalding hot, making me wonder how they assembled this plate.I will say that the hash seems really good but there just wasn't enough. Lastly the men's room was dirty. Needless to say, our visit to Gary's Harvest in Wilton looks like a one and done. read more

A great breakfast place. The staff is friendly and will chat if that's what you want. The customers are also friendly and talkative, which is nice because I'm a social person. The food is homemade, tasty and filling. We moved into Wilton a year ago and it's nice having a place like this in town to go for breakfast. I live a 1/2 mile from the place. I typically get one of the specials: 2 eggs over easy, pan fries, 2 pieces of meat, and toast. The price is right too. I can eat their 2-2-2 special for $6.50 including tax (and a glass of water). That's very reasonable. Oh, I forgot to mention that you can always order whatever special you like even when it's not posted on the specials board. That's a beautiful thing. read more

This should be less than one star... We went here around noon on a Thursday and the restaurant was all but abandoned. This should have warned us, as popular places are busy at mealtimes. I had been there several times in the past at the prior West Wilton location, and had met a friend at the Main st. place for breakfast in the more recent past. Nothing special, but a good enough diner breakfast. This recent visit was appalling. My omelette was raw and liquidy in the middle, running with uncooked egg mixture. My niece's pancakes were powdery and tasteless and my sister only ate a couple of bites of her deep-fryolatored "home fries" that were more like oily potato nuggets. We were not expecting anything spectacular, but unpalatable was also not our plan. This place has an opportunity to be a GREAT breakfast place with very little competition in the area! I am stunned and saddened to see how little effort has been put into its atmosphere, decor, cleanliness and food. Fish and chips - The cook salted everything after it was on the plate and the fish was a very, very, very small portion - pretty much a child size portion. To top the lunch off was the lovely sewer smell eminating from the bathroom, which had the door open. I ask the waitress to shut it and she said it wouldn't help. Really?? We are not pleased with our meal here, the waitress and hostess were pleasant but the food was nothing great, quite worried frankly, hoping we don't get sick. Had the daily special, Turkey Melts with sweet Potato fries. Fries were ok but there was something very off about the turkey. We are worried now that it could have been old. We hope not. Couldn't even bear to finish the sandwiches. Will update if we get sick but it was the weirdest worst tasting turkey we have ever eaten. Feel bad writing a poor review of a place but feel like we threw money down the drain. Also, way overpriced for the type of restaurant this is. Sodexo food service is better. I have been a chef for 23years and go out to eat often. I have never before ordered hash browns and received a rectangular patty. Burger King has better hash browns. I was not expecting much, but diner food is not that hard to do adequately. While the 3 waitresses were standing around, I was never refilled with coffee. Maybe with the 3 tables and 2 people at the counter it was a bit hectic for them. And they would do well to clean there bathroom. My 3 year old would not pee in the toilet because it was to "dirty, yucky". Either big foot just used the bathroom for the weekend or it was just a few weeks worth of dried pee and pubic hair around the toilet rim. Ad the whole back of the dining area had a smell of septic tank. I wanted to like this place, the owner is a nice lady. But whoever is running the kitchen needs to step down. I am very disappointed, I was hoping to have a new place to go get breakfast or lunch close to home. read more

I have been here twice, once for breakfast and once for lunch. Service was friendly but slow each time. A pet peeve of mine occurred at lunch with the specials that are on the white board. If you run out of a special, erase it from the board. One of my party asked for the missing special and the waitress knew it was out. Five minutes later I heard the same issue at a neighboring table. Food at breakfast was Ok. Food at lunch was sub-par. I got the fish and chips. The fish itself was mushy. I did not finish it, and not because the portion was large. Fries were just OK. Other in my group ended up with an average burger. I can't say I would never go again, but I think I would try elsewhere instead. read more

Just had dinner here... 'Have to give it the lowest rating. Fish and chips were inedible. A couple of bites and it became clear that more would literally cause physical illness. The batter tasted just wrong, and the fish leaked greasy water, turning the batter beneath into sludge. Cole slaw was wilted and disturbingly warm. Iced tea was oddly dark, came at room temperature with no ice in it, and tasted like it had been brewed too long ago to be served. Fries were undercooked and seemed microwave warmed. The only thing that got eaten was a mediocre veggie burger, which felt like a fast food hamburger in the gut. I'm leaving this review not to slam what in past years has been a nice little stop, but to provide what will hopefully be constructive feedback for the owners. read more

We went to the granite place up the street. Gary's Harvest Restaurant was mentioned in the directions, so I read the reviews. We ruled it out because of the bad reviews. Coming from Mass we said we'll stop for breakfast on the way. We didn't see anything else and before we knew it we were there. We still had an hour before our appointment so we said well look at all the cars in the parking lot it can't be that bad... Well it was worse than we expected... It's pretty bad when the toast is the highlight of your breakfast. After waiting a half hour from sitting down til we received our breakfast it came out cold. I ordered the sausage skillet. I had a hard time finding the sausage under my runny under-cooked eggs. My girl ordered eggs benedict. She got a small piece of ham that was not pleasant at all... And the pan fries as they call them, are a mushed over cooked pile of potatoes... I think the only reason they are still in business is because there is nothing else around for miles... read more

There is now a place by this name in downtown Wilton (35 Main Street) while it appears another restaurant has opened out where Gary's used to be on 101. I was not impressed with either Gary's but maybe Yelp could sort things out so they have the correct names and addresses for the two restaurants. I stopped here a few minutes before cloasing. Someone came out of the swinging doors of the kitchen, asked what I wanted. "Cheeseburger with fried onion" As he returned to the kitchen, he stuck his hands down his shorts to scratch his butt and proceeded to cook my cheeseburger. I have no idea who ate it, if it was good. this was always my kids favorite place to go....they love the sundae at the end of the meal! the food has gone down hill over the last couple years but we still went because the kids loved it. recently we went and my 7 yr old said, "we don't have to come here anymore, I don't like the food anymore." the decor is terrible, wall paper peeling, a big rock as a door stop, etc. I will say the waitresses are very nice and very kid friendly! kind of sad it has gone downhill so much it used to be a cute restaurant to get a quick family dinner. read more

My fiancé' and I stopped here for lunch about a month ago and to our surprise it was very good! My burger was cooked perfectly and the fries were crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside - perfect! We had the mozzarella appetizer which was buttery and delicious melt in your mouth... My only complaint is the service. Our wait person was friendly but very slow. We had to get her attention because she was eating and we were ready to order after 15 minutes sitting there going over the menu. We were the only customers in there at the time.
