I've been going to The Knotty Pine Bar since before the fire burned down the first building. After this past week's experiences, never again. During the season we usually ride a 4 wheeler in for a lunch or dinner once every week or two. Two years ago my debit card got doubled charged after a meal. I called Gary and not only did he have no idea how to fix it, he didn't seem too interested in figuring it out. I let the credit union sort it out and decided that I would just pay with cash from that point on. It didn't change the frequency with which we ate there, I just chalked it up to Gary being somewhat technologically challenged. No big deal, it's Arnold.
Fast forward to this week. On Tuesday afternoon we headed to the bar for a burger. It's 75 miles round trip on a quad, and by the time we got there for an early dinner we were pretty hungry having been looking forward to a meal for the better part of the day. We rolled up to find a hand lettered cardboard sign saying CLOSED MONDAY and below it another sign adding TUESDAY. That kinda pissed me off, but I didn't check the website or call ahead before we left so I'll take the hit for not practicing due diligence because Gary has been known to randomly close from time to time. On Thursday we decided to give it another try and saddled up the quad and headed out mid afternoon. This time I checked Google and found nothing new. I also called and after 3 rings got the answering machine telling me that they "open around noon most days"....but nothing more. Off we go. A couple hours later we rolled up, walked in and headed for a table and were met with "I just want to let you know we're not serving food, our fryer is broke" from the bar tender.
I'm a pretty laid back person when it comes to unexpected inconveniences like this, but this time I lost my effing mind.
Two hours on the quad, hungry AF and for the second time in 48 hours these Bozos bent me over the stump. I stated in no uncertain terms that they need to update the answering machine message, the Google site, and maybe answer the GD phone once in a while. And if Gary doesn't know how to do any of that he needs to find someone who can.
That's how what will be my last walk through their door went. I will ride my wheeler the other 3 points of the compass for a meal, but I won't be heading that way again, ever. read more
