    Gas Lamp Penne

Gas lamp penne was great as you can tell. I would get it again. It's sweet and there's a lot of chicken in it. The service is quick and has that old timey bar vibe. We went around noon on a Saturday and it was empty enough that we didn't have to deal with any crowd

Stopped in on restaurant week. Our server was super nice and accommodating. The appetizers were decent, but the main course dishes were phenomenal. Would return!

Amazing service, food, and ambiance. They have seasonal cocktails that are out of this world. They also make an incredible espresso martini. We split some apps and enjoyed a few rounds of cocktails. Waitress was incredibly kind and handled a floor full of customers by herself. The bar was doing a fun decorating challenge paired with a charitable component. You donate $1 to a cause of the bars choice. The bar matches up to $500. A lovely $1 we were excited to donate. Great place. Until next time! Thanks for having us.

We stopped here for lunch. We were greeted and seated right away. The saloon style restaurant is welcoming and laid back. Our server was friendly and attentive throughout our time there. I ordered an apple cider mimosa to drink and it hit the spot. For my entree I went with the steak sandwich and fries. The food was good and the ranch tasted homemade.

My husband and I checked this place out last week. We arrived midday, sat at the bar, and ordered drinks and gluten free pizza. Unfortunately, our pizza was never put in so we were unable to try it. The bartender was friendly and apologetic and gave us two free drinks on the house. Totally bummed I wasn't able to try the pizza (we had dinner reservations elsewhere) but I was impressed by their fall drink menu. The tall ceilings and airy interior affected the acoustics of the restaurant making it a very lively atmosphere. For now, I am giving four stars, because I didn't actually get to try the food.

We started with the Chicken Marsala Stuffed Mushrooms, which were packed with rich, savory flavor. I ordered the 'Shroomy Grilled Cheese, and it was next-level comfort food; gooey, earthy, and perfectly balanced. My husband and aunt both had the New School Smash Burger, and they couldn't stop raving about it. Every dish was bursting with flavor and truly "to die for." Our server, David, made the night even better. He was attentive, upbeat, and genuinely kind; an overall great spirit with a fantastic attitude who elevated the entire dining experience. David even brought us some of their popcorn, which was so delicious and such a fun extra touch. We loved the food, we loved the service, and we will definitely be back; highly recommend.

It has almost a cult-like following after reading the reviews. In my experience, everything I have ordered was okay ... but nothing incredibly amazing vs. the price. I have not seen higher menu prices outside of Manhattan. Two sandwiches and one beer came to $78 after the tip. You read that correctly ... a burger with fries, a pulled pork sandwich with side salad and the cheapest draft beer on the menu ... $78!!! The wings/tenders were over $20 ... in fact, other than the side upgrades, nothing on the menu was under $20. If you are charging $25 for a 'diner burger' and fries, it better be an amazing burger. Mine was no better than Five Guys and less tasty than a Shake Shack. Given the prices, one wouldn't expect that you'd get potato chips with your burger. In order to get French fries ... it's a $5 upcharge. A side salad is $9. I don't mind paying more for quality ... and Blackie's quality is probably high as their meats, vegetables, potatoes, etc. all list the origin place. However high the quality is, for me anyways, the food doesn't seem much different taste-wise, than anywhere else that is much less expensive. Having said that, the portions are huge. The nachos look like they are meant for an entire table and everything is served on metal cafeteria-style trays. Good for them though because the place is huge and always packed. The crowd here is very typical 'Rhode Island'. Expect to see a lot of anchor tattoos, lifted Jeeps with no doors in the parking lot, young 20 - 40 year old crowd who probably played high school football or baseball back in the day and still enjoy telling stories about it. There are no shortage of cross-fitters here. There is a nice buzz of conversation and energy ... but this is not the place you want to go if you don't like crowds. Inside is weird. The walls are painted black and the chairs/tables look like something in a boutique hotel. It looks a little more like a corporate hotel lobby or wedding function hall vs. a restaurant ... especially given the typical crowd. This is not the sports bar it appears to be on the outside. Overall, my 3-stars may seem harsh. But that's an average score ... and honestly, my food has always been average. Maybe I need to try the pizza. If you have deep pockets and like huge portions, you probably won't be disappointed in this place. The service is great, although 2 people working a packed bar, you will wait a bit if you need anything. Also, I came to watch the big game and for some reason they hung pendant lights which dangle down from around the bar. While they make everyone look better, the TVs are blocked by the lights. Very odd.

I just came here a couple of days ago for a Yelp event (please check that review for my thoughts on…read morethe pork bun and Sapporo-style ramen on their menu). I liked it so much that I decided to come back and dragged my co-worker with me. The interior is sort of a long narrow-ish setup, with seating on one side, and the ordering counter on the other side. Edison-style bulbs lined the area, providing a warm, orange-ish light. Cozy. You walk up to the counter and order. They'll give you a number and bring your order to your table. I ordered the blackened tuna bun and O.G. Miso ramen (with an addition of pork and egg), with a Yuki Tora sake. The tuna bun was tasty. I believe the tuna was aburi torched, and it was topped with carrots, scallions, wakame, and sesame seeds. It also had eel sauce and wasabi, which created a great flavor combination between the piercing spice of wasabi and the sweetness of eel sauce. The O.G. Miso ramen used a miso broth, with carrots, cabbage, shiitake, topped with scallions, sesame seeds, and a piece of nori. And of course, I added pork and an egg to it. I love shiitake in my ramen broth, as it adds a bit of savoriness, and also provides a bit of meaty texture. The miso flavor in this broth is much more prominent compared to the Sapporo-style ramen, however, I found Sapporo-style broth much more complex and balanced. I think what I was missing in this would be a drizzle of sesame oil. I also got a Yuki Tora nigori sake with my meal, which I found I loved from the Yelp event a couple of days ago. One with the meal, and another one as just dessert after the meal. Also convinced my co-worker to try it, and he also liked it. This place is definitely worth the visit. In general, you won't find ramen this good unless you're willing to go into the city and pay as much for an hour's worth of parking as your meal costs.

I was in the area for URI's corpse flower bloom! If I was in the area again, I would like to visit…read moreagain and try the poke bowls or grab another omusubi/onigiri. The vibe was very laid back on a 2-3ish afternoon. Parking was street parking, but I believe there's public parking around the corner. The restaurant is pretty spacious. You order first and then sit with a number and the server comes with the food/drinks. The tablet does ask for a tip before you even get served. As my personal rule, I never tip before finishing my meal. I ordered the house ramen and a mapo mushroom omusubi. I like how the ramen uses local veggies. The pork was fine, but I didn't like its somewhat dry texture. The broth was a bit too strong and/or salty for my liking, but I don't hold that against it--it reminds me of ramen I've had in Japan, which is a positive if you're looking for something more authentic. (However, I am finding that a lot of ramen just isn't for me!) I got the mapo mushroom onigiri for takeout. I liked it! It's a little spicy and quite flavorful, pairing with the rice well. All-in-all it was a very laidback experience and I would want coming back here again if I'm in the area.
