Went in with friends for appetizers. Service was a little slow but I think they were just understaffed. The calamari and cheese board were AMAZING. Overall, a decent pick with decent vibes.

The food was very good!! We only got appetizers and they were pretty filling and very delicious. The service was incredibly slow though. We waited very long and were probably 1 of 4 tables in the restaurant.

Drinks were cheap and decent. Got a mule but it didn't come in the mule cup which I was disappointed. Large bar and large indoor seating. Some outdoor seating as well. We didn't get any food but the menu looked okay. Bar tenders were nice. You could probably get a seat here anytime and fit a large party since it wasn't that busy. With so many other better options near by I would skip this one.

3.5 stars -Our visit was during the Oyster and chowder festival - Location Location A group of us decided to take a break and settled in at this popular bar and grill We ordered fish and chips and pulled pork sandwiches and shrimp tacos, grilled chicken sandwich and plenty of adult beverages It was a busy day, the food was good but getting our server was a challenge I would come back when in area again

Great calamari and pineapple chucks. Clam chowder was perfect with a nice dose of dill to really add to the flavor.

While spending our Sunday in downtown Newport, we decided to stop here for lunch. Staff was very nice and seated us right away. Definitely the place if you're into sports, since basketball and baseball were on the TVs! My friends both ordered the black bean burger while I ordered the turkey burger with a side salad. Very generous serving of salad! The house dressing on it was great.

Chicken piccata and panko encrusted swordfish.

Excellent dinner. My wife and I had a wonderful dinner. Started with oysters and the spinach and artichoke appetizer. Then had the panko encrusted swordfish and chicken piccata. Both delicious and plentiful. Service was great. The owner and bartender Josh is extremely welcoming. His wife and hostess recommended both our dishes and she was spot on. Wonderful night.

Went here for dinner at a bachelorette. The vibe was great and the Food was AMAZING. I got the pulled pork tacos and they were perfect. The bride got fish tacos and loved them. Another girl also got the salmon and burger and both were clean plates. The waiter was slower and hard to get when we wanted the check. Overall I would recommend because the food was fantastic and there were so many options.

After enjoying cocktails at two locations with million dollar views (and prices), we chose Speakeasy Bar and Grill anticipating great food, prices, and atmosphere. We were not disappointed! I started off with a Margarita made with Patron. It was served in a nice pint glass and a bargain at $10.00!! Since we were there during their Happy Hour, we were excited to know all appetizers were $10.00, which we took full advantage of. Everything was fabulous and flavorful from the mussels, Mac n cheese, and soft tacos, to the huge crab cake and lobster pizza!! Rachael was tending bar and she was very friendly and accommodating. If you're going to Newport, you must definitely make it a point to visit this establishment. It's so refreshing to know you can be in one of the biggest tourist areas and still have a great time without breaking bank! P. S. To Al, the "regular " seated next to me, it was great chatting with you! Atmosphere 5 stars and lots of fun at the bar Service 5 stars Food 5 stars Pricing 5 stars!

We went here strictly to drink on our personal bar tour on Thames street and area, lol. This is one I remember (lol), so I will write that no-one thought it seemed at all like a speakeasy, but everyone was happy with their cocktails and beers menus.

Coming from the Newport Folk Festival ( which was a blast by the way) I got off the ferry and was looking for a bite before heading to my hotel and trip back to NY . I wanted something special to cap off my journey though and wanted down Thames St. The vibe was good walking into Speakeasy, so I quickly grabbed a table outside . Server Kayla was swift and kind. Before I knew it I had this hearty serving of the best fish and chips I can remember. Newport is an annual trip and I like making certain spots a tradition. Speakeasy Bar & Grill is now one of them

Great food and has live music every Friday and Saturday night. No cover charge like the other establishments on Thames Street.

It is a legitimate original tavern - not a theme park restaurant made to look era appropriate. Very impressive. It's all dark wood and fireplaces - the ambiance is real. It does get a bit noisy from other diners, but that's expected in a place that uses and preserves the original materials and doesn't have rugs or decorations to muffle sounds. The place is a bit cramped, but that is expected as well. Original dwellings were not spacious. The steps at the door were awkward and upon leaving it was sort of surprising - you have to be careful upon exit. If you're nimble and aware then it won't be an issue, but if you're unsteady for whatever reason it could be bad. The food was dynamite. I had the beef Wellington - it was very delicious. The staff were very friendly and attentive. I look forward to another visit.

Our food was excellent. We had the paella with clam, swordfish, scallops, and shrimps. The sword fish and scallops were buttery smooth. Our other dishes were the grilled Swordfish with pineapple salsa withover asparagus and mashed potatoes. The swordfish was buttery smooth and seasoned well. For dessert we had the bread pudding topped with vanilla gelato. This was an excellent end to our dinner.

We started off with drinks --gin dirty martini and a classic old fashion, both were perfectly made and crisp. Food: Appetizer-warm bread with butter was a nice starter. However I wish we got the escargot with bone marrow as we watched it being made it looked and smelled delicious. Entrees- we split a 27 oz ribeye and the scallops. The steak was a beautiful cut of meat, well marbled, cooked to perfection and seared so nicely. It was sooo tasty and seared with Malden salt. We are pretty snobby when it comes to steak and this was probably the best steak I've ever had out at a restaurant. The scallops similarly were cooked and seared perfectly and seasoned correctly. Laid on a bed of watercress and potato fondant it was the perfect delicate bite and contrasted nicely with the steak. We got the side of brussel sprouts with peanut Rayu which was a beautiful flavor bomb. I can't say enough about the food. Every single thing we ordered was seasoned and cooked perfectly. I find that to be a rarity in today's restaurant scene. I could not recommend this place more. We really enjoyed it and this will be used as a comparison to every restaurant I go to going forward. 6/5 stars! Come here

We started with the Caesar salad which was pretty good. We also ordered the bread and butter which was underwhelming for something so simple. For our main course, we had the bone-in ribeye steak. Unfortunately, the steak was chewy which was disappointing, especially for the price. The brown butter sauce was delicious and definitely helped. The restaurant itself is very cute inside. We were hoping to get seats at the bar so we could watch the chefs in action, but even though we ended up at a table, the atmosphere was still enjoyable.

This bar & restaurant has three floors filled with plenty of entertainment until 1AM. We started off our first night in Newport by having an early dinner here on a Friday. We sat ourselves at the bar on the first floor. The bartenders were friendly and attentive - no complaints on service. To start off, I ordered my usual drink... a classic margarita. It was strong and tarty with a good kick. Their menu offers your typical American pub food like burgers, sandwiches, wings, tacos, wraps, etc. They had a BOGO deal for their spicy fried chicken sandwich (~$14), so we couldn't resist saying no to that lol. The meal included a spicy fried chicken, lettuce, pickles, and spicy aioli sauce on a brioche bun with a side of fries. The portion size was generous and just enough to fill my belly, but not enough to put me into a food coma. The chicken was tender and juicy and I loved how fluffy and buttery the brioche bun was. There was a little too much batter on the chicken than I would have liked, but it was still a delicious sandwich nonetheless. The fries were super crispy and crunchy, 10/10. I'm curious to know what their other sandwiches taste like! Around 8pm, it turns into more of a bar/club atmosphere. It gets progressively packed and loud. There are bouncers at the door to check for IDs and to handle cover fees (if needed). There's live music every weekend from 8-11pm, as well as a DJ from 11pm - closing. The top floor of the restaurant hosts their famous Dueling Piano show where two entertainers perform and engage in playful competition. You request songs for them to play on a grand piano, so it's a fun and interactive experience. Reservations are required in advance. Check their website for the full schedule of their live music performances and show times. Since we got there early, we were able to keep our seats at the bar to watch the live music performance. The crowd was pretty diverse and a mix of all ages. Everyone was having a great time!
