I thought this was a family establishment but the owner of this establishment is so inappropriate with women, he was inappropriate with me, it was obvious I was with my husband but he was still very inappropriate with me. I should be able to go out and have dinner without being harrassed by the owner especially. I feel so violated and so uncomfortable I think its safe to say that if any wants to bring their girlfriends or wives here just dont, unless you want your girlfriends or wives to be harrassed by the owner all night long. And if it wasn't bad enough, I actually saw the owner with another mans wife. what is going on here at this establishment???. Took my boyfriend here for his birthday to see the Oingo Boingo cover band dead man's party. And it was one of the best experiences I've had at a bar/restaurant in a long time the staff was extremely helpful the food was delicious the drinks for great. Avoid this place!! This place is dangerous and I felt unsafe. They do not search people as they enter, you just walk right in. I witnessed 3 Secrity grab a guy aggressively and throw him to the ground. All 3 were holding him down yelling at him in his face. This person never touched anybody. Security said they were simply "tired of him already". They are untrained and unprofessional. Hiring security thinking they are just babysitters that can boss people around is dangerous. Secrity needs to be trained in how to handle different situations. Learn to ignore words and learn how to deescalate without assaulting people. Physically grabbing someone and throwing them around claiming "self defense" when someone has not put hands on anybody is welcoming a huge lawsuit. It's just a matter of time before this place is shut down once again. I was also told that the police were called and it was a lie, they never showed up. I like the Gaslamp. It has elevated pub food and every single dish I've tried has been tasty! I ordered their pasta because I was feeling under the weather (and nothing helps like shoveling in some CARBS) and a lil Manhattan (which wasn't so little), and I instantly felt better. I'll start by saying I love the new screen and the very spacious new outdoor set up. Love the movie selections (we were there for Princess Bride/Labyrinth, and Jurassic park is coming up next unfortunately no one in my group wants to go back) and love the music and vibe. Now I'll go into why we're never coming back. We were maybe around the 10th group there, first seated in the second row of tables. We asked for water first as we went over the menu. More people were seated around us and up to two rows behind us. That's when the problems started. NO ONE came back to serve us or even give us that first round of waters. ALL the tables around us had eventually gotten to their MAIN MEAL before we even could hail a server down to help us. And the woman who was our initial waitress told us "oh I'll go get your server" then 2 seconds came back visibly embarrassed that she was actually our waitress. She spilled a round of alcoholic drinks all over our table and my seat while I was in the restroom which I understand is an accident and I'm really not even mad about. They proceeded to forget parts of our order and then offered a person in my party inaccurate food that we didn't realize until they brought it out. (She wouldn't have ordered it if the waitress hadn't said it was available a certain way). Anyways these small service issues are really not the big deal... we were one of two (maybe 3 but we only saw the one other) tables that was entirely minorities. I hate having to even mention that but when we show up and spend good money on preordered tickets and table reservations you would think we wouldn't have to watch all the other people around us enjoy their meals for 30 minutes while we are still waiting for WATER and struggling to get anyone to stop at our table. TL;DR All POC table couldn't get service. Please treat future parties better. read more

I will give you 2 stars. You have AMAZING ambiance and the server was the definition of joy. The food thou? I got the chilaquiles with chicken. The chicken was very very very dry. The chips were super salty. The egg was definitely from a bottle, and not a chicken. There wasn't even any cheese, pico de gallo, or anything that could spice it up. Just salty red chips, dry chicken, and a few pieces of red onion slices. I used to think the I was spending too much money getting chilaquiles as The Ivy for $45, but now I just believe you get what you pay for. If you had great food you'd be a gem. I had a blast celebrating a friends birthday at this place. It was a rainy but the place was still pretty busy, probably to see the popular 80's cover band. We reserved a few tables and were able to enjoy some drinks and food before dancing the night away. A cesar salad with grilled chicken and a few Jamesons neat made for good night. Today marks the one year anniversary since me and my wife dined at this restaurant. I usually only write reviews for exceptional experiences, however, this occasion was exceptionally terrible. We knew not to expect much from a dive bar, but being hungry and new to town, couldn't find any reasonable alternatives. The hosts were missing, so my wife went to a bathroom that had 2 ladies vomiting at 11am. After we were eventually brought to a table, 20 minutes went by before our server got our order. No biggy, but it wasn't till another 50 minutes that this relatively empty restaurant decided to send their cook to bring food to their only outside table. Unfortunately for us, we had quite a surprise in store. Never in my life had I received an omelette so repulsive, that I had to walk out of the restaurant. Placed in a puddle of egg water, and caked with salt, this omelette received the reward for worst meal I have ever received. Additionally, I'm a college student, so my pallet's standards are relatively low. The guitarist killed it though. Good tunes made the waste of wait-time fly. I believe that in order to prevent individuals from hating something, a threshold of effort is necessary. If heaven and hell truly do exist, this is the restaurant i expect to see in Satan's plaza. read more

First of all let me just say in regards to getting reservations not including the tickets: --Management is very disorganized although nice. Organization: 1/5 Interaction w/ customer : 3/5. ("3" only because of the disorganization) --Staff has a hard time keeping up with what's going on because it goes back to management. But they are also very nice -- Wait staff: 4/5 We always had someone different but they managed to get our food out relatively evenly considering how there had been at least five different people coming to our table. Each one of them was extremely kind and accommodating. I'm guessing owners have not "Claimed" this business on Yelp because they don't want to accept responsibility for how poorly they perform as far as getting back to customers via email and phone regarding reservations etc.. ‍ Music: The bands are exceptional *NOTE: if you have not been here before and you're unaware of music being amped up to outdoor large event standard, just *note--you will likely need to bring some earplugs so your ears will not be ringing when you leave. This is not a complaint and I am not kidding about just how loud the music is for such an extremely small venue. Food: We each had something different and we shared. Hamburger and fries 4/5 Chicken lettuce wraps 4/5 Spinach and artichoke dip 4/5 Buffalo wings 4/5 Drinks: everything good. 4/5 Would definitely go back; will definitely bring special earplugs to block the extremely high frequency of some of the Instruments that are literally ear piercing My only real "complaint" is that I would really rather hear the singer than have the Instruments so loud they almost blare over the vocal performer/s, especially for ballads. *(You cannot recover hearing loss caused by this type of frequency.) read more

Gotta just give a quick review for this place, had such a great time here!! We didn't order food, just maybe a couple of drinks... so my review is just on the vibe and the place in general. Super easy to get to with plenty of parking. The building has housed several other jumpin' spots so we were a bit leery wondering if it was just some knock-off joint that would be lame. Well, it wasn't. I think part of it was because of the killer band on stage; Knyght Ryder!! They can definitely kick some ass and get your booty shakin. I may be just getting old but the people on the dance floor were extremely rude, however 80% of them were those pesky 20-something year olds that have no regard for us 1980's geezers. I left there with lots of alcohol on my feet and a couple bruises from heels, not once did I get a "sorry". There was even a dance floor fight and people had to be carried off. Ok, that being said, it still was a great time and the staff handled situations perfectly without any hesitation or issues. After reading other reviews, I will definitely be back and even come back for some of the great sounding food. I came to the Gaslamp with a few coworkers for a Friday night out. It was 80's night and Knyght Ryder was the 80's band rocking out. I paid $10 at the door for cover and the place was already packed by 9 pm. The crowd mix was interesting because 80's music resonates with multiple generations. That made it for a very fun dance floor. During the bands break, the DJ turned up the music with modern music. It was so much fun jumping around and screaming the lyrics to all the songs. I have attended cover bands at the Gaslamp and it is really a fun place. The tickets are reasonable, the bands are good and the bartenders work super hard. The door man, the very large door man/manager? is professional and takes care of business. We did wait a long time to get in for the Queen Nation show because we did not have tickets but he kept us informed and eventually we did get in. The crowd was having a blast- people of all ages and walks of life. Parking can be tough so come early but can park across the street at the bank and it won't be a problem. I think they do need more help and more security, luckily the crowds are pretty mellow at least for the two bands i saw (Tom petty/fleetwood and Queen nation were great.) Ear plugs should be used because it is very loud. Definitely recommend buying tickets early and getting there early. read more

This has nothing to do with my review, but I thought I'd mention, I nurtured my second worst hangover here last night... I am so glad that this free-standing restaurant/bar got the major overhaul on the interior to completely erase any traces of it having been Live Bait and better yet of its days when it was Bentley's. I'd describe the decor as dark and dramatic. Back in the day, Bootie Quake night was the go-to night, but now it's Fridays to see Knyght Ryder, the 80s cover band that makes me re-live the love/hate relationship I have with the old high school days. Knyght Ryder seems to draw a huge crowd with the dance floor always packed and the tables on either side of the stage are always occupied. The bar staff is great, although I expect nothing short of that since the owner was well-trained at the old haunt that used to be across the street...Barwinkles. It's great to see that this place has blossomed into having what looks like an enticing menu offering (I tried the food early on while the chef was experimenting) and that it has comedy and wine-tasting nights added to its schedule. Gaslamp gets the 5er for consistently providing me with awesome nights of drinking and cutting a rug, and now for finally having driven me to the dreaded adage of regret, "I am never drinking again!" read more

This a review of Gaslamp as a concert venue only. Friend invited me to cover band playing and was pleasantly surprised how great of a concert venue this place is. Was expecting smaller but a good size standing area to watch and dance surrounded by all the dinner tables. Large bar with friendly bartenders, and even a second smaller bar. Also a great patio with fireplace and TVs where you could still here the band. Why only 4 stars? Because I NEEDED the patio to escape the decimal crushing sound level of the band! Ok first band was a Who tribute band and you could argue it should be loud. But headliner was Elton John tribute and sorry, Elton shouldn't be heard at Metallica level volume. It was hard to hear him SING over the instruments. I thought it might be that loud to cover the restaurant but honestly it was loud everywhere. Finally found respite on the patio where I could hear music but nothin pain. Cmon guys- you got a great place. Loud is good but deafening will make us think twice to come back. read more

This place is a JOKE! They are really overpriced for the atmosphere, service and the food you're getting. If you're not paying the extra $10 for the live projection performance and trying to have a nice dinner at the next section, expect nothing nice. Service is bad, food is bad, ambiance is terrible, drinks are average. You try to enjoy your dinner and have a chat while loud speakers playing music mixed with the live music right next to you. Oh and know that you might get some brown bad avocado slices in your food with some mushy (i mean sticky) rice and when you complain you got sent a manager at your table being nothing but condescending. Gaslamp was the first place I had been in Long Beach to party and I was pleasantly surprised. Although the set up is more of a restaurant than a club, there is a little dance floor in between the two bars. The DJ plays the Top 40s with some 80's rock. If you want to hear anything, just request it! Drinks are cheap and a little watered down. The bartenders are friendly. The crowd includes college students and some locals. One of my favorite things there is the photobooth--I LOVE photobooths. There's an outdoor patio area for smokers and for anyone who wants to get some fresh air. The only downside is that it closes at 1:30am on the dot? Maybe 2am. But the security guards stand in the parking lot and follow you to your car. They hound you until you leave the lot. It's pretty intense, I've never experienced that at any other club. With that said, I will be back Gaslamp! read more

I've been here before Covid they have certain foods that are good, and entertainment, but we made reservations for dinner we weren't told they wouldn't be serving there full menu. During events (which we didn't attend it's just a screen view of the band) they offer like 10 items and much of it was ok. Not worth ridiculous high prices. Cocktails we're almost $15 a piece and served in small glasses. I expect that at a high end restaurant. Pay attention to your bill they over charged us for shots we didn't have.
