Came here for an emo night event if I'm being honest. I don't drink much but crazy that is Red Bull by itself Is 10 dollars. I mean it is a bar so kinda expected. Will say it was definitely spacious. It would be nice if they had some standing tables or even more places to sit without it being for only service bottle girls. I will say everyone's experience shall be different since a random person kinda punched me and left me a bruise due to a mosh pit. But again this really isn't the clubs fault. Overall it's not bad for a bar. It was nice that they had an elevator since it's in the second floor. About is accessible to ppl who need to use the elevator!! Also one thing, maybe be more thorough with security. They didn't check bags and just checked for ID only. Oooo also don't be warned with parking!! I neither drink nor am I a regular at bars/clubs but this past Saturday, I decided to check 4 establishments in Downtown Long Beach, At The Top being one of them. This place is located on the 2nd floor of Shannon's On Pine Irish Pub & Sports Bar. The first thing that stood out (after having been to Sevilla Nightclub just a mere hour before visiting this place) was how lax security was. And by lax, I mean they don't pat you or check you for guns at all. Cover IS free so that's definitely a plus. The whole place smells of marijuana smoke and the floor was kind of sticky. They do give out free water, which is nice but they don't have disposable cups, rather they have regular plastic clubs that I'm assuming are washed regularly? The music was ok. Not my thing but I can definitely groove to some Hip-Hop/R&B every now and then. The patrons were friendly and it was easy to make conversation and connect with others. Some of the people were already high as a kite there, though, lol. Again, I can't comment on the drinks or their prices, since all I usually have is soda, or water if it's available. Overall, a bit of an improvement over Sevilla in some respects, and not as good as Sevilla in others. Final Score: 3/5, just like Sevilla Nightclub down the street. read more

Come for the music and fun vibes. Eat elsewhere. I came here when At the Top first opened some years ago and was immediately impressed by the spacious venue and loungy furniture. The sound system didn't carry throughout the place very well, but seems they have improved it by adding more speakers to every corner of the place. I have come recently for Urban Society LB's R&B Brunch and it has been such a turnt up party! I feel good being vaccinated since a lot of people are indoors without masks here, though all the windows are open. Apparently, it's hard to get into this event because tickets sell out within minutes, but my diligent friend has managed to get us tickets and a table, so we have some space to ourselves and an area to sit. A bottle of champagne/sparkling wine is about $20. Their simple brunch menu consists of the worst chilaquiles I've had, decent chicken and waffles, avocado toast with a street corn twist, and a hearty breakfast burrito. The food is really just there to fill people's stomach with all the booze intake. If you have a table, the servers are very attentive and nice. Ordering drinks at the bar is also a reasonable wait. The music and fun atmosphere make it all worthwhile though! It does feel as if covid never happened so if you're not ready for this environment, I'd save it for much later! read more

My friend and I came on 5/24/24, and had skip the line tickets via DJ research. David told us we had to stand in line regardless of our ticket status which doesn't make sense seeing as the event was ticketed by Shannon's. Thankfully, another bouncer let us in once he heard that we knew the DJ and we told him the door code. David seemed upset at his coworker for letting us in, possibly because he is holding a grudge. We ended up leaving the bar and came back 45 minutes later, David brought up my previous review while scolding us for coming back in. I don't think a short man that holds a grudge should be one that holds the position of "power" in a local bar, it may go above his head. read more

Downtown Long Beach nightlife is really, really lacking. There's all of 4 bars and swarms of police on standby. The people that are partying there are stumbling and drunk and the rest of Long Beach is deathly quiet compared to this tiny block. The music wasn't great for any of the clubs or bars we went to, and the drinks were overpriced for what we paid. Compared to all this... At the Top takes the cake for my top club to avoid in Long Beach, so that's saying a lot! This place tries to imitate a swankier DTLA lounge and fails miserably. The bouncer in the front was super rude to us and wouldn't let me bring my teensy water bottle in my teensy tassel bag (even though they let me in at literally all of the other bars, lounges, and clubs we went to). He didn't even give it back to me, he just took it and placed it on a ledge. I asked if I could grab it on my way out, he says he's gonna toss it. I call out to my friend and we both leave. On my way out I ask what this club is called and he's hesitant to tell me, almost like HMMM he knows he behaved in a way he wasn't supposed to, lol. I was on Yelp to check into this place (and honestly just see what other people had to say about it) and before I got a chance to, he physically tried to stop me to tell me how I need to write their drink policy in my Yelp review. I wasn't gonna write a review for this place, but after a grown man in a suit tried to stop me with his arm and bark at me about my creative writing, I just felt like I needed to say something. Came here for a birthday party which also happened to be the LBCS(Long Beach social club) 5 year anniversary of their party which was an R&B brunch . The situation was lit and definitely my first time experiencing such a fun party. Part of the music took me back to the day but there was hardly any room to dance, so if you plan on having an event make sure to get there early and claim your spot! I'm giving this spot 5 stars mainly due to the staff, particularly Cathy and the security guards. Being a person who uses a wheelchair, there were some issues with accessing the handicap stall because of someone who was not feeling well and the elevator. Cathy and her colleagues found solutions to both problems with professionalism and understanding. If I could give this place zero stars I would. I don't even know where to begin but a summary of our experience here includes being inappropriately touched by the bouncers, being yelled and cussed at by the owner, and being shown the utmost disrespect. The owner was being irrational and screaming at me and all of my friends (college aged girls) although we were being calm and treating him with respect. They additionally split up all of the men and women and let all of the men in first so that they could inappropriately touch the women without any of the men seeing. It was disgusting. I've never been treated like this in all of the places I've been to and it was completely unacceptable. I've only been to a few clubs in Long Beach, but so far this has been one of my favorites. Me and some friends have come here about 3 or 4 times on the weekends and we've only had a small problem once. Usually, there will be a guy outside of the venue handing out cards for girls to get in free until a certain time. The one time we had an issue is when the guy handing out the cards told us that the cover charge for men was $10 and when we got to the door, they said it $15 for men. Other than that, I like how spacious the venue is. It's pretty much a big open floor with VIP tables against the wall. It was pretty packed the times that we've went, but that's understandable. The DJ has been really good the times I've went as well, mostly playing rap/hip hop from the 2000s to today and Latin music. I believe there is a dress code, like no baseball caps or jerseys, but other than that, I haven't seen them enforce anything else. We haven't had any issues with the fancy-looking security like some of the other reviews have reported, so it's so far so good! read more

What a hidden Gem. I stumbled onto this spot by accident on a Wednesday night and was pleasantly surprised at the vibe. They have live music and art on Wednesday's from 7-9pm. The venue is beautiful and is huge with lots of natural light and windows. Feels like a modern day Xanadu club! The drinks are good and the bites are pretty good. You can make a whole evening of this place. Start downstairs for happy hour and then come upstairs for some great music in a come as you are, relaxed environment! I was here last weekend for the Grand Opening for Mood LBC and it was lots of fun. A DJ was playing great music, there was lots of staff keeping an eye on everyone and it looks like they were escorting people out that were getting sloppy drunk (because let's face it, it's not fun when the sloppy drunk is spilling drinks on you and falling all over the dancefloor). I have to admit, this isn't the classiest place at all. It's fun if you're there with some girlfriends and you stop by to dance for a little bit, but it's hot inside, smells kinda funky, and the crowd there is ... interesting. I didn't make it to the bar part of the club but they were doing bottle service. The only real thing I didn't like were the lines outside; It seemed to be very unorganized, and maybe that's because it was the grand opening of something, but it was all over the place. People that RSVP'd to the event didn't get in first, but had to wait in a long line. The guy at the door was just letting people in at random parts of the line, and people kept coming out of the club and dragging friends in before they were letting in people that were actually waiting in the line. read more

Never in my life have I ever been treated like this in all of the places I've been to and it was completely unacceptable. Being inappropriately touched by the bouncers was something that I never thought I would experience. Personally, I saw the bouncers yelling at some of the girls around me who were getting rightfully upset by hearing about the inappropriate touching that had occurred with the girls ahead of us, so I chose to calmly approach the bouncer with my arms out, clearly showing that I was not hiding any contraband in my dress, which wasn't that hard to tell in the first place due to the fact that it was a form-fitting and strapless dress. Despite this, the bouncer proceeded to grab my dress and yank it down at my chest, almost fully exposing my breasts, and then grabbed my breasts while saying "Oh, you're not even wearing a bra." I was completely shocked, humiliated, and mortified. They also split up all of the men and women into two separate lines, and let all of the men in first so that they could inappropriately touch the women without any of the men seeing. It was disgusting. No woman should have to experience this, and I hope that there will be consequences for their actions. Do not go here or give them any more business. read more

Open floor seems good at first glance but as people start showing up it gets over crowed. The wait lines at the bar are horrible. And even worse the wait lines for the restroom are by far the worse I've ever seen in any club/bar. I went there with my gf on a Saturday she used the restroom twice each time it took her 20 - 25 minutes to use the restroom imagine having to spend a little less than an hour of your night just to pee. I wasn't touching anyone while dancing, just trying to be active to pump up my friend for her birthday. At the Top opened up and began it's 5 star venue odyssey just recently. I'm positive in minimal time it will soon be the "place to be" when visiting/ exploring the heart of downtown Long Beach! During the week live music is a must-see; especially for underground music aficionados! Fridays and Saturdays tend to be more of a high-class nightclub venue.. including spectacular bartending services, great drinks, great prices, bottle service, superb music/ dj selection, and most importantly, a fun and friendly vibe that keeps myself and my friends coming back EVERY week. Always a great experience, accompanied by great drinks and we always feel safe with the outstanding security team working. Then they wouldn't let him back in because he was "under dressed" and then their excuse was that he was too buzzed. He only had one drink!
