Went in earlier in the evening tonight. Thought it was pretty unfriendly, especially considering how dead it was in there at the time.

Been to karaoke night, pretty great voices just not much of a crowd. Checked it out last night, Saturday and they had a DJ that was awesome, he projects videos matching music playing, so dope! And again not much of a crowd, just the same old set of men shooting pool on the side. Drinks are priced fairly. Their lemon drop martini was pretty good. Service could be better... Oh and on the way out they have a food vendor set up outside, we shared an asada quesadilla pretty good. read more

I visited "B's" for a memorial punk rock show. The house was packed! I was super impressed w/ the staff... the girl collecting donations at the door was soooo sweet and absolutely adorable. I was served by Clarissa at the bar. She was THEEEE BEST! I could see she was working her tail off, handling a full bar with a smile and finesse. I let her know it was my first time to the bar, and she gave me a super sweet "Welcome In!" . I am a little indecisive, which has been a little uncomfortable at other bars in the past, but Clarissa made me feel absolutely no pressure to order on the spot, and took a sec to explain some cocktails she thought I would like. She ended up making me a custom "Valerie Special" based on what I told her I liked. LOL!! She was spot on w the delicious cocktail she made me!! The atmosphere is fun, drinks are bountiful, food is delicious and most importantly (to me) the staff are amazing. This used to be a local stomping ground in my early 20's. They had live bands that played classic rock cover tunes. The owner and his wife used to be at the bar every weekend. They have dj/ house music now. Yuck. Maybe other genres on other nights. read more

I've been here a few times to karaoke. There's a middle-aged regular that knows the staff. She gets intoxicated, tries to flirt, with you, and when she realizes you're not interested in her, she'll berate you and call you gay... tbh, it's a little sad. It happened twice to me, the last time was in front of the owner and a female bartender -- they said nothing. No biggie, I'll take my business elsewhere or make myself a drink at home. To give credit where credit is due, there is a male bartender by the name of Darrell who is professional, competent and friendly. The other female bartenders don't have good attitudes. I don't drink alcohol, so you take my review with a grain of salt, but I enjoyed my first time at Boomer's. I came for a DJ event called Trojan Lounge and I really appreciated that this bar has a sound engineer to ensure the music was just right. Nice dance floor, plenty of seating at tables and around the bar, and pool tables for those who like to play. The two stalls in the tiny ladies room stayed stocked with TP. Friendly security. Hands down the best dive bar in Lakewood. I'm not going to name any names but it's obvious that the other s**t bars like hide away, snug harbor, regal inn and zanzabuku can't even hold a meth pipe to this place! I have a regular bar I usually go to but I just happened to stop by Boomer's to check it out. I found my new place. The bartender Clarissa was so welcoming, hilarious, and high energy. The customers made me feel like a regular, they welcomed me right away. This bar has karaoke, trivia night, and the coldest drinks. It's a must go type of bar. If I could give 0 stars I would my friends and I all came at 12:30 to have a few drinks and have fun and there were people at the bar drinking, I mean as expected right but when we were ready to order the servers turned their backs to us and wouldn't serve us even one drink. Seriously not how a customer let alone anybody should ever be treated so I had to literally yell so they could respond to us because they were ignoring us while still serving people. And it wasn't busy just us and the other group and when they faced us they said "we're closed" at 1230 while still serving people right in front us then chuckled like it was a joke. Seriously? The security guard will forcible try and remove people that are not doing anything but being one minute over the time that they want you to leave. My friend was finishing his drink it was 1:45 and the security guard grabbed the drink out of his hand and then started grabbing him and shoving him out the door. My friend was not causing drama or fighting with anyone. Apparently this is a trashy ass back ended no customer service having ghetto place.... I've experienced better... I've experienced A LOT better. But what if I don't care for any of that... what if I just want a beer and a place where everybody is relaxed and older (sometimes a lot older)? Boomer's hits the spot when I'm looking for a Historic Dive (as historic as Lakewood can get I guess). I love how the Bud Light is served in giant plastics cup, no need to worry about broken mugs here! I also love that I can order up a round of Patron for random strangers and it won't run me any more than a couple of 20s. This is the joint you go too when you've had too much glitz and glamor in our life... This is the joint where you don't have to get your hair did to impress anybody... This is the joint where you go to shoot pool, play darts and listen to some good ol' juke box music. I enjoy my time here a lot, but I can't shake off the thought of people looking at me funny... I'm not exactly what you would call a part of the in-crowd... I typically don't have anything in common w/ the other patrons. They probably think I belong at V2O or something... I doubt they even know what V2O is actually... for the record I don't go to V2O. This place is awesome if you like a local bar. The drinks are cheap and will get you effed up! All the bar tenders are nice also. The mix up the music alot. Bands normally play but now they introduced a DJ like once a month or something. The DJ is really good also. I make it a point to go on the first friday of every month. They have a band called the Sin City Playboys and they rock. They mix up the music alot and will play 80's rock, mix it up with some classic rock and some of todays alternitive. VIOLATES STATE CREDIT CARD SURCHARGES, yet wonderful bartender. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the pleasantries of a great bartender that never let my glass be empty. I'm EXTREMELY disappointed that they post a $20 credit card minimum (that's fine!), but they also add a $2 surcharge, which is prohibited by the State of California (http://www.ncsl.org/research/financial-services-and-commerce/credit-or-debit-card-surcharges-statutes.aspx#CA). This needs to be removed as anyone who has been charged the $2 can claim three times the amount for damages plus legal fees. Credit card processing a standard part of business and it needs to be included in the budget. read more

I've been asking the Lakewood community of a go to bar and they all recommended Boomer's. This is a pretty big dive bar and it's awesome! Drinks are cheap, and the bartenders pour you a crap ton! There's live bands every now and then. More importantly, the place feels like a scene where it has that Miami Vice feel or a scene in scarface / the godfather will occur.
