Having to have a procedure done, it was refreshing and reassuring to use this location. They provided excellent before instructions and everything was as explained. The waiting area is safe and comfortable. Plenty of room for people to wait. They have the procedures down to an art. Very organized and efficient. In and out within a reasonable amount of time. Follow up next day with phone call to make sure everything was ok. They only problem came with the lack of additional follow up in a reasonable amount of time. My issue is with the front desk and people that are not doctors the receptionist people and the people that work in the back under the providers are absolute incompetent and they just stupid the doctors. I was not able to get into my usual doctor at the Rhyland office, but was given the option to visit PA at the South Reno office. After whining a bit about having to drive all the way down to South Reno instead of the office a scat mile from home, I set up the appointment with the very nice, sympathetic scheduler on the phone. One thing I really like about GI Consultants is they doo a very good job of keeping you informed. The staff at the South Reno office were professional and personable. The office its self is new and shiny and modern. Other than the fact it is almost as far south as you can get and still be in Reno. It also took me awhile to find the building - that south medical complex is like a labyrinth. I had a good visit with Sara DeBoor and she filled out a huge list of tests to get done. I scheduled a return visit and went away feeling satisfied and listened to. After I had gotten all the test done and the reqsults sent to them, the office let me know Ms DeBoor is no longer with them and I needed to reschedule the appointment. The scheduler was able to get me in to my primary GI Doctor at my preferred location Downtown. Would I go down to this location again? Yes, as I have had nothing but good care no matter which facility I have gone to. read more

March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, thankfully my colonoscopy was the end of February. Most of 2024, I was dealing with a lot of GI problems. I was in the ER a few times because of it. Since I was going to have a hysterectomy, my doctor wanted to wait until after that, to send me to a GI doctor. From these reviews, I guess I was very lucky to get an appointment within 7 days of my referral for colonoscopy. I barely had enough time to prepare. The staff for prep was very helpful. I only had 4 business days to be ready for my procedure, but they got me set up immediately. The day of, staff was compassionate and helpful. Everything did seem pretty quick though. I was very glad I had the procedure. They did find 2 polyps and each was removed. If you are over 45 years old, please get a colonoscopy! read more

I can't believe they didn't get a 5 star but maybe they didn't have Dr. Hinojosa. Today I had the dreaded COLONOSCOPY and for what is is my experience was GREAT. I wish I could remember everybody's name that treated me today, but I can't because I was happily comfortably sedated. What they did do for me that I thought was fantastic is I cannot lay on my left side due to my shoulder injury so the little anesthesiologist who I wish I could remember her name because she was absolutely fantastic. Helped me out 100%. She offered to give some pain medicine before they turned me on my left side and she said that as soon as I've said that it was as comfortable as I could be, she gave me the set and so there was absolutely no pain whatsoever. Everybody there was just so nice so professional that I highly recommend recommended. I had seen Dr. Hinajosa about 30 years ago for another procedure and he still as wonderful as he was then. I do not have any pictures to post because that would be gross lol but if you have to have any type of procedure done in that category, definitely I recommend them. read more

You are put on hold for a long time and eventually, you'll have to leave a message. I used to use the portal to communicate and used to get replies within a few days but now I want to change my email address and I can't even log in to the portal. I had a colonoscopy at GI Consultants performed by Dr. Tom Fang, MD. This physician is an amazing practitioner, highly skilled, highly dexterous, competent, professional and functions as one with his advanced medical devices. I elected not to have sedation and was able to watch the entire procedure on a wide monitor. While some may find this uncomfortable, and prefer the sedation, I found it absolutely amazing, educational, and am in awe of the doctor's skill including the scope, removal of polyps, and overall evaluation. I have been going to G I consultants for around 15 years. Need the five year screening every 5 years once you're 50 years old. It's one of those necessary yet extremely uncomfortable, at least for me, requirements. I have dealt with 3 of the Physicians over the years. Chen, Feng and Osgard. Very professional and good bedside manner. The only problem is, post Covid, it is very difficult to reach human beings. Took me over 6 weeks to get through all the phone tag, scheduling, checkup and finally a procedure set up. Long wait times on the phone, leave a message, they don't call back etc. Not sure if it's a staffing issue or just post Covid crappy service that seems to be the new norm. Once I was on hold about 30 minutes being told I was next in line, have the phone ring, then back to the cycle of being next in line. Very frustrating. Finally I left a message and never got a reply. Sadly, there's not a lot of options. If it was a haircut, I would just find another stylist. But really can't do that lol. I Have to have a colonoscopy, insurance deductible was met, so I needed to get this done before insurance reset. Most gastroenterology places are setting appointments two months out. Once I got in though, the people were very nice and helpful. After letting them know that I really needed to move this along, they put me on a priority schedule and got my procedure scheduled before insurance deadline. read more

A good experience here for the North Reno location. My procedure went well. Their follow-up before and after the procedure was procedure was great. This place is very busy. During my visit, I saw about 5 different people for getting setup. They were all thorough, professional, and knowledgeable. I wish I could remember all of their names. The girl doing the IV was especially talented. I didn't hardly feel it and after it was taken out, there were never any bruises or indication I even had one. My veins aren't easy to find either ! Everyone was upbeat and jovial during conversation. After the procedure, Dr. Cummings came to discuss the outcome, but since it was right after awakening, I was not very lucid or thinking clearly. Perhaps a later visit would have been better, but this is not a complaint. Next, the wife is going there for the same procedure so we will see how that goes. So far I am very impressed, and I have been in the medical business for over 30 years, so I tend to be critical. However, nothing to critique here. read more

I have been going to GI Consultants for 4 years and always had a great experience with the staff and Dr Pez. I had a Endoscopy/Colonscopy scheduled and the staff had great communication leading up to the procedure and made sure I understood all the instructions to have a successful procedure . Checking in for the procedure was easy and the person was polite and professional. The pre-Op nurse Brittany was great at explaining everything she was doing and provided warm gown, blanket and socks. She expertly started my IV. Dr Pez was great at explaining the procedure and the anesthesiologist! I had nurse Danielle and she was great at explaining all the post-Op things. If you need to get this procedure? Scheduling staff lack basic customer service skills. Communication with patients is poor. Follow up regarding a treatment plan is poor. Incredibly long wait times between appointments. Normally I am very healthy, daily runner and gym rat. 58 years old. In November of 2023 I went to the ER with stomach pain. After some tests and X-rays, I was given a referral to GI consultants by the ER doctor. The earliest appointment was in March. Mind you, I was referred to this March 24 appointment on Dec 10 of 2023! That appointment lasted 15minutes and I was referred to have a colonoscopy. That was scheduled 30 days later. After the colonoscopy, it seems I was scheduled for a follow up visit. I do not recall making that appointment nor getting notified as I was very groggy from the procedure. 30 days later, I received a hard copy letter from GI consultants explaining how I had missed an appointment and how I would be billed next time. That really frustrated me as every time I call to get a follow up to go over the colonoscopy, it is at least 90 days out. 10 months with a GI issue. No resolution or diagnosis from GI consultants. One appointment, one colonoscopy, no follow up. At this rate I may get a diagnosis within 5 years. read more

I must say: the staff at this location was WONDERFUL, every single one of them , from the receptionist, to the nurses, the anesthesiologist to the doctor. Very attentive and caring. Clearly a case where demand outweighs availability and service goes out the window. This office group has more patients than they know what to do with so they care very little about service to the individual. I waited 6 months for my appointment for them only for them to notice that the referral timed out before I could actually get the appointment. (Referral good for 6 months). Rescheduled for 6 months more in the future only to have a problem with how a form was filled out by my primary care doctor. They waited until two days before the appointment to bring it up and then say they would have to cancel again and reschedule for another 6 months in the future. 18 months is way too long and some level of compassion is needed for people. Clearly they have too many people and make too much money to care about the individual. I doubt they will even care about this review or have anyone even read it. I suggest traveling and find a different doctor that actually cares about people. read more

Everybody involved with my procedure was awesome! I was late because of the lack of snow removal on the freeway, but they still didn't cancel my appointment. Everybody from the first person I spoke with at the reception desk, to the last person I spoke with after my procedure when I walked out the door Treated me like a person and not just some random patient or a number. They gave my grandson juice while I was in recovery too. That's the kind of care you can expect they called on Monday to make sure that I was OK, asked if I had any more questions, and I didn't, but if I had, they would have made sure that I had all the answers that I needed. I would share photos, but the only ones that I have ar of the inside of my throat, and I don't think anybody wants to see those but me, but I think it's neat that they give you them. I was a little worried because I knew my regular doctor, Dr. Sande, had retired, but the doctor that I saw was just as good! I would never recommend this practice to anyone. After waiting 4 months for an endoscopy/colonoscopy procedure, I was left with a broken front tooth! Right before Thanksgiving. No one told me they had broken it, I had to ask the nurse about it after the procedure and I was handed a little pink denture cup with my broken tooth piece inside. I waited in recovery/post op almost 2 hours for for the doctor to come by but he never showed. No one reached out or called me afterwards. My procedure results were mailed to me a few days later but I was left with a sizable bill to first repair and then replace my crowned front tooth. Such a huge disappointment since the NP/PA I saw at the initial appointment was very nice. But lack of patient care resulting in my broken tooth is why I would never recommend this practice to anyone. read more

I'm posting because I see conflicting reviews. No one, including me. looks forward to a colonoscopy. The negative, I had to wait almost 3 months knowing that I did have some concerns to worry about. And the prep was awful but can't be avoided. But once arriving, the staff was so helpful and personal. Jake took me in and got all the questions out of the way, a wonderful nurse prepped, Dr Nanchiondo introduced himself (a wonderful doctor) and away I went for the procedure. . Post procedure, everything was explained and I even received a printout of results. I realized all my angst and fear was unfounded. My husband went here, the scheduling woman Stephanie was great, over the phone and in person. The NP Sarah Deboor was not as great. She was rude, she was not sympathetic or empathetic at all. She kept asking him what labs and tests he wants done as if he has the education she should or something. Also, the guy who came in before check out was unprofessional. He left the door open while discussing the labs and tests that need to be done very loudly. read more

They do not care for their patients because they are so unorganized and could careless about getting their the patients better customer treatment, and better communication I went in for a check up and was given another patients file I had to tell the front desk lady she was making a mistake, they never requested my labs from my primary care physician and they even billed me incorrectly. This office is in need of major help. The office staff took 12 days to return a call regarding medical problem. After being admitted into hospital and seen by one of the NP's. The office literally called as the NP was standing in the hospital room after treating me for 7 days at that point to see about getting my call addressed. I was discharged and given schedule and plan for more testing. I had several questions and could not reach anyone in the office by phone so drove to office for answers. Once at the office the office managers exact words were "We are just very popular and that makes us busy" and then had a MA come attempt to give me medical answers. So unprofessional and dangerous.
