This is a review that encapsulates my overall experience from when the business was open till today. My wife and I are somewhat semi-regulars here as we frequently drop at Tangram during our Flushing visits. Positives: The environment and vibe is great here! There's a great selection of plushies and figures to buy (or earn) here. Pricing to play is OK. The staff here provide acceptable service. Negatives: For the first 5-6 months after opening, the claw machines provided reasonable chance and opportunities to win. I used to see customers with plushies on hand as I walked around to find a plush I wanted to go after. My last two visits this month that amounted to 80 dollars of credits total resulted with no winnings. At first, I attributed this to skill issue, but my methods haven't changed from when I started visiting here. On average, I would land two winnings per 40 dollars worth of credits. I have seen other users complain about this in the reviews and it looks like this location recently reprogrammed their machines to make it increasingly difficult, if not impossible to win. The claws do not rotate upon user movement, but will rotate upon drop. This is bad if you want to aim to grab a specific spot of a plushie. The claws have become notably more weak to grab also. The grab is obviously important to grip the smooth surface of a plush. At this point I'd recommend skipping the machines unless you're ok with throwing away cash. It's this stinginess that makes this place currently a less than desirable spot to have fun in and worth 2 stars. There are plenty of clawcades in Flushing worth looking into at this time. read more

I came on a weekend (Sunday afternoon) and there was a 20 minute line to get in. It is kind of pricey ($3) per try on the claw machines and the staff was not refilling the plushies in time, so there were some empty machines and we had to wait for a staff to come and refill it. Compared to other arcades, Gatcha is one the weaker links. The venue is huge, and highly air conditioned, which was nice. We each got the 65 credits card value option ($22). On one side was the arcade games, with each game costing around 7 credits. The games were pretty short lived, or maybe I sucked lol. So as fun as it could be, it was over very quickly for the price. My favorite was the gun shooting one with the left and right foot steps. Some of the games had a multiplayer option but didn't seem to register it despite pressing multiplayer, like the car racing and basketball one. With barely any credits left, we then moved onto the other side, filled with brightly lit claw machines. None of the plushies stood out to me to want to play, until I realized you can exchange 2 plushies for 1 ticket. Tickets can then be traded in for other prizes, like blind boxes! Really cute arcade on the second level of the tangram mall. One side of the arcade features many games featuring dancing and music tapping and even some basketball machines and racing games. They even have a giant pac man machine. There is a small drinks bar where you can refuel near the game center and cashier. The middle section near the entrance are the prizes and toys that you can purchase or use points. You can refill your card by the door at one of the machines or at the cashier but they are now charging an activation fee for each card. An $11 purchase is equal to 28 credits and $22 will get you 65 credits, $33 will get you 107 credits. Each game is about 6 credits but nicer prizes can be 8 or 11 credits to play. The other side of the arcade has dozens of claw machines with many prizes that will make you squeal with glee! I noticed a lot of sanrio, pokemon and Nintendo characters to win. Definitely a fun place to kill some time after visiting the tangram food court. It gets really crowded on Friday nights and weekends though so expect a wait. This one is more expensive than others but ok I understand it's the location. I don't think the staff knew how to run a speed dating event. In fact, it was more of a social gathering. I expected it to be like where you get partnered up with an unknown person and have each other ask questions. I did try to socialize with a bunch of people, but wound up getting brushed off by them, which was a downer. Some games you need to unlock 8 rings for the prize to drop but each play you can only unlock 1 if you are good. Very similar to like a Dave & busters or Round 1. You purchase a card to get credit which you can use throughout the place. Claw machines on one side, arcade on the other. Be prepared for a line to get in because it's still new. There was a line when I went and when I was leaving. Honestly, it feels like you can't lose. I've always been pretty skeptical about claw machines but I saw so many people walking around main st with a bag of toys. Personally, I bought $50 of credit today (last day of their 1.5 x) and won 5 plushies and a blind box. I even got to play arcade games with my s/o and we still had credit left over after being there for a few hours. It's definitely a fun time because if you win a plush but you don't want to take it home you can bring it to the counter and trade them in for tickets (1plush~2tix or more). They credit the tickets to your card so that you can trade for other things (plush, blind boxes, etc.). If claw machines isn't for you, they also have toys & blind boxes for purchase. Staff here were very nice and was more than willing to help. I asked if they could reposition a plushie and they did. I also saw another staff give tips on what they can try. Also overheard someone lost their game card and the staff ended up locking it and transferred what they had to a new one. Unsure what proof they had to provide for it.
