Their crew did a complete job including stump removal, drilling through granite and working late to get the job completed on time and on budget. Gate City was helpful when I visited the show room, giving me a very rough estimate on the spot, explaining my options. A gentleman came and took measurements and gave me a quote that was in line with what other companies had given me. They were able to fit me into their schedule pretty quickly - I had thought I was going to have to wait for spring. The workman who came were polite, professional and friendly. They got most of the work done in one day, my only complaint is they didn't let me know when they would be back to finish up - they were back within a week, but after my phone call asking when it would be done. This family owned company is great to work with. Willing to squeeze us in after hours on a last minute appointment, just so we could replace a busted gate latch and sign off on a home sale inspection. You get a quality install but you have to put in a little work to make sure your job doesn't slip dates. They have a lot of jobs booked out for months but that's probably due to how great the end result turns out. I've spent ~$10.5k on fences with Gate City with zero regrets. I've used Gate City Fence twice in a 9 year period. The first time the scheduling and install was seamless. They did what they said they were going to do in the timeframe described (in 2007). The fence came out looking great and does not move at all. A giant section of tree limb fell right on the fence sometime around 2010 and there wasn't any noticeable damage to the fence. My second experience with GCF (July 2016) was a little less structured when scheduling but the end result was still superb. Here are the details on my most recent job through GCF: When I first setup the timeframe they were 3 months out but said my job would take place no later than the first week of June (this was written on my order receipt). At the end of May I dropped by to check on the start day. I was told end of June. When the day arrived for the install they showed up early and worked until the job was done. They have their own CNC machine in-house which gives them the ability to custom make all pieces to ensure a great fit. The fence really adds to the look of the property due to their attention to detail. If your biggest priority is a quality install go to Gate City Fence. If your schedule is fixed and you can't move your dates around by a month you may need to call them each week to make sure they don't forget about you. read more

Jeff at Gate City is really knowledgeable and very thorough in ensuring that the installation is done perfectly. I'd been considering a new fence for some time, but was unsure of what made the most sense both functionally and aesthetically. He offered to come by earlier than the scheduled installation time to walk the property and discuss the various options I may want to consider. Ultimately, thanks to his patience and professionalism and the great crew he was working with, I now have a beautiful, new fence. My neighbors have even commented on how nice it looks. I called Gate City about a week and a half ago and spoke with a very helpful customer service rep. She took a considerable amount of time explaining options to me and even giving me a ballpark quote on the phone. He said she was booked out a few weeks and when I explained that I needed a fence up before leaving for an out of town trip since I have a pool and want to keep my yard safe she said she could squeeze me in on Friday morning for a quote. I rearranged my whole schedule and waited for the gentleman she said would come for the quote. He didn't show by 9 and by 9:15 I left for work and had my boyfriend wait for him thinking he was running behind. Never showed. I calle at 9:45 and the same helpful girl told me he hadn't even shown up to the office yet (aka missing in action) and that he was having "health issues." So don't you think you should call the clients he has scheduled to give them a heads up? I was about to throw $4,000 down on this. Guess not now. read more
