He called me within a couple hours, told me what needed to be done, said my truck would be completed by the end of the day-he resolved the check engine issue and put brakes on. I had so many issues with this place. I first got in contact with Ike, and let him know I needed a basic inspection. I let him know that I'd like to get in that same day, but that I was moving in the morning so my schedule would be based on when the movers would be done. He kept pressuring me to give him an exact time, and when I told him I wasn't sure if I'd make it that day, he pressured me even more saying he already bought filters expecting me to come in (how would he have even known I'd need filters?) So I bring my car in the next day for the inspection. I let him know I was leaving town for a week, and would have to leave the car with him until I returned, and he said that was fine. I confirmed twice that he was ok with that., and he was. So while I'm out of town, he calls me to tell me he did the inspection and oil change, which I was fine with. The he tells me that I also needed new brakes which would be $900. I tell him I don't want to commit to that while I'm on vacation and will decide what to do when I'm back. So then he tells me he can no longer keep the car parked at his garage while I'm away since he won't be working on it. Completely going back on what he said earlier. So I'm freaking out trying to figure out what im going to do. I finally talk him into letting me keep the car there until I returned like we initially discussed. But that was a really stressful moment for me. Then, while I was still on vacation, he demanded I Zelle him (before I even picked up the car). Mind you, he told me I could pay when I returned. I've never had a mechanic ask to be paid before I even got the car. But I did it. Then, on the day I'm supposed to pick it up, he's unresponsive about how I'm going to get my car since he said the garage will be closed when my flight landed. I kept texting him until he finally responded, and told me my car was parked at the garage and he left the keys OUTSIDE with it. They were literally on the floor and anyone can walk in. Finally, I noticed the very next day my tire pressure light was on. He never even checked my tires or put air in them, which is basic inspection stuff. This was a very stressful experience and I will never take my car to them again. read more

Requested a quote on repairing my front left axle since my boot was already leaking grease and making the clicking noise. The owner quoted me pretty close to what I got from another shop, so I decided to go with him since the shop is a lot closer to where I live currently. Owner was very friendly and responsive to any questions I had. He also took pictures of before and after of the repair and made sure the car was cleaned of the grease from the leaking boot underneath my car. Based on my experience I do recommend checking them out in the Mar Vista/Santa Monica area. I plan to keep my 2012 Prius alive through the end of the world, and I now have Ike, the most amazing, honest, clever auto mechanic to help me get there. He helps me invest in my car to keep its value. I just brought in my baby after a few years away for a lot of much needed work, wheel work and struts, oil changes, coolant flushing, some fixes to the electrical system, and finally, at long last, a catalytic converter shield, all things I have put off because of the expense. Not only did Ike do all of this work carefully, he was in contact with me via text and phone the whole time to track the expense and what I could afford. High ratings here aren't quite what they seem. The owner actively asks customers to leave 5-star reviews in exchange for discounts (that's how he got me as well) and even pushes you to write about specific aspects of the service before they've actually happened, like "quick" or "quality" service. When I called ahead to ask about doing a tire rotation along with an oil change, Ike said, "Yes, we can do that. I'll take care of you," which led me to believe the rotation might be included. I should have clarified the price upfront, but when I arrived, I was quoted $70 for the rotation which was separate from the price of the oil change. When I said I'd have it done elsewhere, he immediately started negotiating the price and again offered a deal if I left a 5-star review, telling me what to include in it. In the end, the service itself seemed okay and I did get a lower price on the tire rotation--but only after some back-and-forth that left me feeling annoyed and misled. Overall, the lack of transparency, negotiating, and repeated pressure around reviews felt scammy and left me with a sour taste in my mouth. Don't want this to happen to others who see a high review here. Definitely won't be coming back. read more
