A good experience. Place was very busy but well staffed, and the manager (maybe owner?) seemed to working very hard including cleaning tables, getting people seated, answering questions from staff and patrons. He was very involved, controlling the floor and getting things done. The Restaurant was clean and well staffed. I came from Houston Texas on a trip staying here in Monroe. Knowing what good bbq and ribs tastes like I decided to try the baby backs ribs. Yea, a little taste of Texas. Fall off the bone, hot and well made. The bbq sauce was a sweet version which I love, but just seemed to be missing some kinda kick. For those who love the tangy, smoky more hot sauce may not find less appealing but I give it a 9 out of 10. My dad also tried one of the sandwiches and was very good. The pizzas did look very tasty but perhaps another time. I would certainly come back maybe try the pizza. Definitely recommend this place. Congrats on the staff and restaurant for my 5 star review. Well done. -Joseph. (Houston local guide)

Great breakfast food! We stopped in on a weekday during lunchtime and it was pretty busy. They serve breakfast until 2pm every day. My husband and I split the cinnamon roll which was okay, nothing special. I got the breakfast burrito which was 1. delicious and 2. huge! The potatoes were to die for. I definitely want to go back for lunch because their menu has a little bit of everything!

Restaurant in strip mall with lots of parking. Went for breakfast and was very busy. Waited for a table for 5 about 15 minutes. Breakfast menu is good. They also have lunch/dinner. We ordered waffles w/sausage, breakfast sandwich, and steak and egg. All were tasty. Their biscuits are homemade!!! Get them. This is your typical diner and that's the vibe inside. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive. She was very much on top of things. Great experience! Didn't wait long for our food at all. The only tiny thing was that the coffee is not very good.

I was told to try the cheesesteak. I love the burgers but I was told to give the cheesesteak a try and it was amazing!!!

I always love a family dinner at Gateway Grill! It's the ultimate comfort food and space. The staff greeted us immediately and our server was super sweet and nice. She was quick to take our order but it did time some time for the food to come out, but when it did it was hot a delicious! Their pizza is meant to be eaten fresh and right away! I enjoyed a nice soft drink and got the Reese pie and a cheese cake to go. We will definitely be back!

First impression was that the color scheme, decorations, and menu all seemed to be dated and uninspired. The staff were polite and attentive. I ordered the salad and Salmon Oscar. The salad was good and the blue cheese dressing I chose was house-made. It was good. My girlfriend got the wedge salad which I think was a bit expensive since it was a $6 up charge for a wedge of iceberg lettuce from the standard salad that came with the entrees. My Salmon Oscar with asparagus was very good. I enjoyed every bite of the salmon and crab. My daughter's chicken parm came with a ton of linguini. My girlfriend got the signature crab cakes which she said were mostly crab and not filler. So while I thought the menu was dated when reading it the food was well executed.

My wedding soup and my husband's French onion soup were delicious. The wedding soup was loaded with meatballs and chicken. My husband has a thing for French onion soup and tries it every chance he gets. He said this may have been the best ever. We split a Reuben sandwich and upgraded to onion rings. The waitress brought us each a half portion so we didn't have to divide it ourselves, which was nice. There was plenty of meat on the sandwich, making it acceptable, not great but good enough. Onion rings were very good. Dessert sounded tempting, a cherry crème brûlée. It was okay, kind of like cherry jello with a sugar crust on top. A bit disappointing to say the least. Our waitress was on top of filling the water glasses and was very nice. Now for the bad news and why I'm only giving 3 stars. I went to the ladies room before eating and there was no hot water to wash my hands. I asked my husband if the men's room had hot water and he said no. We both let it run but it never got hot, not even warm. Then I noticed (after drinking several glasses of water unfortunately) that there was a crack in my water glass. I mentioned it to my husband and he said, "you should see the chips in the glass tabletop over her on my side". I get it that wear and tear happens, but these things should be caught before serving guests. And as far as the hot water...how do servers and kitchen workers properly clean their hands after using the toilet without hot water? So the food is fairly solid and reasonably priced. But be on the lookout for chipped glassware and table tops. And use your own hand sanitizer if you have it!

Three stars only because they forgot to give us our fries, until we went back to ask for it. They also missed adding avocado on my bowl. The one thing I wish is that they had a salad size between the kids portion and the regular. Because the kids isn't quite enough and the adult always seems to be too much. I love that you can add basically unlimited toppings when you create your own salad. The only limitations are proteins and cheese. I've made some strange combinations, but they ended up being delicious. I also love that they mix the salad together for you (if you want that) so your dressing is nice and spread out throughout the entire salad. Their burgers are also delicious. They have some that are ready-made creations or you can build your own as well. the one downside is that it seems whenever you order a burger or fries it takes forever. Even when I've ordered online in advance the items from the back seem to take quite a bit of time. They are worth the wait, though!

I've been craving a big bowl of their tortilla soup and a buffalo chicken sandwich for years. A recent family outing took us to Monroeville and I knew that we had to eat at Max & Erma's since we were in the neighborhood. The inside is a tad 'odd', with seasonal Christmas lights everywhere decorated in a Fourth of July theme. The table was mildly sticky, the booth seat was mildly uncomfortable, and there was a mild smell of dirty dishwater and/or urine at our seats. All-in-all, the restaurant feels tired and judging by the cleaning products and bucket placed on the ice cream bar, it looks like the workers are used to it being that way. It looks remarkably like the Max & Erma's in Cranberry right before it closed its doors. Service was prompt and friendly. No complaints at all. The food was on point and was as great as I remembered it to be. We got 2 quarts of tortilla soup to go so that we could share the nostalgia with our family and they were equally as smitten. I hope this place stays around and that it gets a little refresher. Generations of yinzers need their tortilla soup, buffalo chicken, and let's not forget those unforgettable cookies to go!
