Stopped in to have lunch with friends. I ordered the club wrap and fries with a lemonade. The club had fried chicken, bacon, tomato, lettuce, cheddar cheese with ranch dressing. Website says they close at 2, I showed up in an uber at 1:12am and they yelled to me that they are closed. Friday May 19, my sister, my spouse and i went here about 9ish. It was a pretty busy rainy night. The service was great. The passion for tequila drink definitely should've been stronger. I felt like i was drinking juice. My spouse said his hurricane burger needed seasoning. Our steak bites appetizer was good but it was not cooked to medium (little pink) like we asked. The theming inside is tacky (in a good way) with the New Orleans theming all over -- I love it! The flags and lights all over make it feel like you are in one of the bars on Bourbon Street. There are lots of televisions and beers on tap! The food we had was amazing! Everything had excellent flavor and the portions were large for the price. Our server was very attentive and our order was brought out in great timing. Just one thing that knocked it down was the pricing? There were discrepancies with the advertised price and the bill we got. Pizza pitcher combo was advertised at $15 and the bill came at 19.57 for the combo. After bringing it up to our server, it was only discounted $3. Maybe something is wrong with the system but the prices charged are not as advertised. That was just a little bit of a downer. I sing with a local community choir and we often stop for food & drinks after our performances. Tonight we went to Gator Jake's, without a reservation, and were waited on by a gentlemen named Joey. All I can say is "awesome"! We were about 25-30 people, all on several separate bills, and didn't have a single problem or issue at all! Our food came out in a timely manner, it was hot, tasty and good size portions. But most of all, our service was great!! Joey and the rest of the crew were super nice and couldn't do enough for us. We ordered the gator bites, coconut shrimp with a side of broccoli, French onion soup, and the crocodile club when we were finally able to have someone take our order. We waited a pretty long time to get some help, so when I asked a girl standing behind the bar if we could order food she said I had to wait for the bartender. The bartender was never notified about us so I had to go up a second time then the bartender sent a different person to take our order (in which she was the only one who provided good service the whole evening). The gator bites were actually the best thing here and yet unfortunately they give us a very small amount and put them on a bed of fried dough to make it seem fuller. The French onion soup was super cheesy on top which would have been good, if the soup itself didn't taste super watered down. It had little to no flavor. The coconut shrimp was burned, broccoli bland, and the bread for the crocodile club was pretty dry and stale. The meat inside was good when you eat it by itself though. To top it all off we were kind of rushed out as they turned off the lights and were mopping behind us telling us they were closed. In the end so we felt like we had to inhale the food and beer. All in all, the food and service is better at other nearby bars. Limelight isn't that far away and if you don't mind driving a little, Ireland's Pub is great in St Clair shores and actually open till 2 every night. read more

My friend mentioned she'd heard about Gator Jake's and really wanted to go. We came here for dinner one evening. The atmosphere is bar/grill but not welcoming. The place had a dark, dim feel to it. Anyway on to the food. I had the perch dinner with mashed potatoes and broccoli. The three pieces of perch were huge, and I happily anticipated my meal until a half second later I noticed the very light color of my fried fish. It looked like it had been deep fried for two minutes. Seriously, beige fried fish (see pic). Needless to say the mashed potatoes were the best part of the meal. My friend's shrimp po-boy was not good either; bland and chewy shrimp. I'm so glad we were in the area and stopped by instead of making the forty minute drive from our home.
