We had Gualt install a generator, furnace and new AC unit. The company took care of all the county requirements and provided excellent customer services; from the installation technicians to the office customer services it went smoothly. At each step of the installation, the technicians gave us detailed information and recommended any changes we should consider. After having a couple issues with my old HVAC system this summer I ended up asking Gault to replace my 20 year old unit and have been very pleased with the results. I've had the pleasure of talking with many of the technicians during the process but with Stephen most recently. We use Gault Electric for all our electric needs. They've installed a new generator and a new gas water heater and completed many electrical repairs over the past five years. Today Devon and Ty came to repair/replace two outside outlets and two inside ceiling fixtures. Beware... the technicians are nice and professional but they scam you out of money. I specifically said to the rep that I did not want to pay. She said she was waiving the dispatch fee so I wrongly assumed (since they did absolutely nothing) that I would not be charged for a check up of my solar system. They charged me a 250 dollar hourly fee... again, for them doing nothing but checking to make sure the system was good. Do not go with them. They will scam you out of money for no work done. read more

I had withheld making this review in the hope that the open issues would be addressed last week. Gault Electric began installing a standby generator over 8 weeks ago, and while they returned multiple times to complete the installation and get it operational, they have failed to resolve the remaining issues over the past 6 weeks. Despite numerous conversations with Gault, they have not lived up to their promises and commitments to address the issues in a timely manner. What was further disappointing was the left debris behind, cutting numerous drywall openings (multiple times) around the electric panel that required significant drywall repairs, failed to seal cable entries from the exterior and crawlspace, did not secure a grounding wire across a walkway, and failed to bury the same wire properly resulting in it being pulled out and becoming a tripping hazard. Additionally, they damaged ductwork in the crawlspace, requiring the ducts to be rehung, reconnected, and resealed. Finally, there was a lack of follow-through in coordinating with VA Gas to replace the gas meter. Having paid a large portion of this project towards the installation cost, I cannot recommend Gault to others for the reasons outlined above and have advised others to explore alternative installers. The Sales experience was great, however, they are let down by the installation and after sales support team. read more

He was sincere during our discussion and offered an apology for the confusion. He has also offered to come out to my home to look at my generator and switch to discuss a solution to my request. Mr Gault was professional and went out of his way to resolve and work an agreeable solution. I've been a customer with Gault for a while now. Just recently signed another service agreement but I'm wishing I hadn't done that now. I've been waiting to receive a quote for evaporator coil cleaning for 3 going on 4 days now. When I needed a quote for a more expensive service, I had the quote the same day but for something not as expensive I can't seem to get the quote. I've called several times and even spoke to Lete via messaging, Lete has been as helpful as she could be but she doesn't write the quotes. Requested a quote to see what we needed to do to add a standalone garage to our standby generator. Appointment made - took off of work to meet service person. Gault failed to notify us they could not make the appointment they set for us. Was rescheduled and wife shifted her day to be home, and I again took off of work to be at the appointment. Service person came and said we were hooked up to generator and since they drive 1 hour they had to charge me a service call (I just paid over $400.00 to have generator serviced by Gault that week). I paid and left to go back to work and got a call from the service person stating he was wrong, and we had to get a larger generator. and they would be glad to give us a quote. Service person was an electrician, but did not know what he was doing and was apparently confused and had no idea what he was doing. If you have a Kohler standby generator system, or a standby generator for that matter, use another company. Received double talk and just run around when I was supposed to get a quote for services. I needed new outlets for my EV & RV. The team came out and over two days they replaced my small breaker box with a new one that has plenty of room for future expansion, run cables for a 50 amp outlet for the EV and a 100 amp line for the RV panel. They did a great job. Good, solid installation. Minimal disruption to our household. Everything was carefully cleaned up when they finished. While they may schedule a time block, they can call and tell you they are on the way - two - three hours early. So you can either decline and risk them not coming at all or drop whatever you planned on doing to accommodate them. Be prepared to waste a day. Of greater concern was the technician was unable to perform the necessary diagnostic testing, limited to changing oil. I have no idea if the generator can actually provide power to the house. But they do charge for a full service visit. read more

Gault Electric did a terrific job installing recessed lighting over our new kitchen counters and under the cabinets. It was a tedious job that required hours of fishing the lines through the walls and rewiring the sockets as well. We called Gault because we lost power to a circuit. All we needed was a circuit breaker reset. The worker ended up changing a GCFI (that needed fixing) and 5 dimmer switches that were working properly. We received an invoice for over 1000 dollars. If that seems like a reasonable rate to you, give them a call. We will call someone else next time. Edit: Apparently they made a mistake in billing. They sent us an updated bill. Its not $575. Also, we discovered that they installed one of the switches upside down. Life is always a mixed bag. But +1 star for updating the bill. read more

I hired Gault to do annual maintenance on my whole house generator. They changed the oil and didn't reinstall the oil plug tight. The oil completely drained out. When it started next time, it siezed. They claimed it wasn't their fault and it was an electric rotor problem. The only thing they could do is replace the whole system, for 18K. I hired Asbury electric and they repaired the mechanical part that Gault burned up. I would never trust them again read more

Excellent service, advice and expertise! Could not have asked for a better company and crew to do our electrical work. We moved into a house that needed a lot of electrical work. Apparently, there had been a lot of DIY work done by the previous owners. We had a long list of upgrades we were hoping to get done; but, realized it might have to turn into more of a "wishlist" than a reality. However, Jessica and her crew of Zack, Quan, B.J., and Alex G. were almost "magical" as they made every request we made become a reality! I had a complete heating and air conditioning system replaced. All went well until I started getting water pooling around the base is the furnace. It took several calls and home trips before someone finally had it fixed. It was a defective Heat Riser and once replaced, we now may enjoy the replaced addition with no pooling water. read more

I've used Gault Electric for my whole home generator maintenance since I bought my home several years ago (the previous owner recommended them & I believe they originally installed my generator). I also use them for HVAC seasonal maintenance as well. They are extremely reliable and every employee I've interacted with over the years has always been respectful and efficient. There was a recent issue with a bad ground wire going to my HVAC discovered during my maintenance appt & the employee took the extra effort & time out of his busy summer schedule to ensure I wasn't without AC in the middle of August until they could get a two man team back out to replace it completely - which they then took initiative to follow up with me ASAP & got it taken care of right away. We have been dealing with Brett regarding a Generac whole home generator install. We were advised a November install date which did not happen. Not a big deal it is a crazy time. What we have issue with is the failure to return our phone calls and the appointment set lady (JULIE?) who was rude nasty and unprofessional. We have been using Gault Electric periodically for over 25 year - but we will never do business with them again! We called them for some flickering lights and a non-working overhead light in a rental house. They could not schedule us for eight days, but we did go ahead and schedule. The person on the phone told us that there would be a non-refundable service call charge of $129. Never was it explained to us that that non-refundable charge was simply for scheduling an appointment. We ended up resolving the problems the day after we made the call, called immediately and cancelled the appointment but low and behold our credit card statement came with that $129.00 charge. We called, of course, but were told that that was the fee simply for scheduling an appointment - non-refundable. I agree with David's review - if that seems reasonable to you give them a call. We will NEVER do business with Gault again - after 25 years! Sad! read more

The day of my appointment I called to confirm arrival and was told by the receptionist that someone would be coming (window 3-5). Gault Electric is over-priced for the work they pretend to do . they uses stall tactics to get the 1 hour $125.00 service charge. my generator problem was diagnosed and fixed within 15 min on their visit, and was a result of what they supposed to have fixed on their last visit. this was very unprofessional to charge a customer for the mistake that they made on a previous visit.
