I am going on 4 weeks post-op at Athenix in Bellevue Wa. I have had a Belt Lipectomy with FDL and Muscle Repair with Gavin Dry. Dr Dry's work is stellar, his explanation of expectations was real, and his work is impeccable. I am very pleased with the surgical care I received. But I want to use this opportunity to give a review of the staff that supports Dr. Dry. The first time I came to Athenix was with a family member when they came for a consultation. The initial intake was thorough and informative, and we never felt rushed. It can be an embarrassing situation to expose that much of yourself to someone, especially when you are unhappy with some physical parts of your body; but the consulting staff were so kind and grounded that it put us at ease. We never felt rushed, and my family member also made follow up calls for some clarifications and received all the information they needed. I was already booked somewhere else for my procedure, but decided to also consult at Athenix. It was pricier, but also local to me so I would not have the expense and concern of travel. My consultation was with a different intake professional, and I experienced the same superior level of care. These folks are so educated and helpful, and I appreciated the time that I got to spend asking questions. I changed my surgery to this practice because of these interactions. The scheduling and front desk staff are top notch. They are very responsive to answering questions and the surgical scheduling folks were great! I have had to nudge some of my appointments, and schedule some more last minute when drains were ready to be removed, and they helped me navigate my calendar. After every appointment, I also stop to chit chat for a moment at the front desk, and they are funny and smart women who give great tips with compression and the like, and commiserated with me on some of the more difficult bits of post-op care. The day of the procedure itself is a bit hazy in my memory, but my nurse at the start of the day was funny enough and helpful enough to keep me feeling safe and secure. It always amazes me when people are intuitive and know what the patient needs to put them at their ease. The anesthesiologist came in and we chatted for a bit and I felt confident in his ability to monitor me and keep me at the right level of out-of-it-ness without complications. The morning of surgery after I was in the surgical suite and being prepped, one of the kindest humans patted my hand and told me everything was going to be alright right before the anesthesia kicked in; that made the morning. And finally, the nursing staff. The nurse that called and did my intake and pre-op info was thorough and informed, and was able to help me figure out when to discontinue some meds, what was fine, and helped me plan out the couple weeks prior to procedure. My follow up appointments with the nursing staff has been gentle and informative, and they have monitored my progress and been attentive to all my concerns. I was given advice and explanation when i bought the wrong type of tape, got tips and tricks for compression and garments, and been guided through my post operative care with complete professionalism. I am very purposefully not calling out each of these folks by name, because together they have provided the care and kindness of family, and I would hate to have missed a single person that has been part of my surgery and follow up. I am so very disappointed with this surgeon. After doing intense research, having a breast lift with him and following all his instructions to the letter, I have to have my breasts re-done because they are now sagging! Please try to go to a different surgeon unless you want to have your breasts re-done a few years down the line. read more

IMHO, taking on plastic surgery as a career is one of the most monstrously difficult of professional tasks that exists in the medical landscape today. It is like an extremely nuanced and footwork- heavy tango. You need to attract patients, who are rational, expect normal results and engage in normal- to- cautious- risk- patterns , yet ... they still need to have an ego, an interest in vanity, and have the cash required to maintain these standards . The tenuous balance that must be struck between aesthetics and clinical strength; Between an" aggressive" consultant versus one perceived by patients as "overbearing" or "wishy-washy"...or worse yet, "a sycophant", or an employee who is "fake", is really hard to achieve, especially, when you are personally invested in the group. These are the surgeons that have to fix the flaws created by others. It is really a thankless profession from a public standpoint, and these gifted surgeons, are still mere mortals .Despite my 15 years of experience working in this field, it blows me away, how hard it is to create a successful, authentic and consistent product, as seen through the lens of this particular niche of the public. Like a high percentage of professionals in his field, Gavin Dry is a genius What sets him apart isn't s his practice management skills, but his earnestness, work ethic, consideration for others, ability to both connect and engage with strangers, authenticity and real skill. .He is humble, kind, considerate, empathetic caring and very skilled at his job. His pricing a nd office staff was normal but not amazing compared to this dr and his surgical skills. Dry is conservative but solid- top in his field...a kind heart, willing spend hours if that is what you need , and way ahead in skill set . Don't know why he is so under-marketed and appreciated relative to his relative strengths in this field. read more

At the time of this review, I am three weeks post-op (Breast Reduction) and I have had a wonderful experience with Dr. Dry and his staff. Everyone is so kind and professional. As for the results... I am amazed! I experienced very little bruising and my pain level was much less than I anticipated. Dr. Dry was very attentive in my consultation and pre-op appointments and answered every question thoroughly. My Post-Op appoinment was also smooth. Improvements that could have been made to my experience are minor such as an updated before/after photo album (the pictures were a little old for my procedure but more recent for others). read more

Love Dr. Dry and ALL of his staff. I had two procedures done a couple of weeks ago and I am so over the moon with the results. I, too had very little bruising after my surgery thanks to the Arnica and his gifted surgical hands. Every appointment Dr. Dry is a little late, but I know it is because he takes his time with every patient. I have never felt like he was in a hurry with me. Now when I go in for my appointments I know to block a little more time. He is worth it. I will and already have recommend Dr. Dry to my friends. He has a nurse Caren who is awesome, so cool and down to earth and is a really good nurse. From the very beginning Ann the coordinator was so sweet, informative and accommodating of my schedule. Best plastic surgeon in the area, hands down! I went to Dr. Dry for a breast augmentation procedure and had a fantastic experience! I looked into several other doctors in the area but unfortunately none of them were as attentive and genuinely interested in the patient as Dr. Dry was. He spent quite a bit of time with me and answered every question thoroughly. I never felt like he was in a hurry. The office is easy to find and in a great location in Kirkland. It is a block or so up from Evergreen Hospital and there is tons of parking. It is a warm and inviting office and the entire staff is incredible. The operating rooms are very clean and I felt very comfortable with both Dr. Dry and his nurses who helped with my surgery. This was my first large surgery so as you can imagine I was very nervous. From the minute I walked in the door, they calmed me down and made me feel as relaxed as possible leading up to the surgery. The anesthesiologist was phenomenal! She was so friendly and caring and did an excellent job with the IV. (I wish she could be my anesthesiologist for all surgeries!) Dr. Dry is an incredible surgeon and my procedure went flawlessly! My results are beyond my expectations and throughout the process I was given the highest quality care possible. I'm so glad I went ahead with the surgery and Dr. Dry's office. He took more time than expected on my surgery, to make sure it was perfect, and did not charge me any more. The follow up appointments were included in the quote. I was able to work out a pre-payment plan with his office. I was able to reach him day or night if I was worried about something. I cannot say enough about how much I trust his knowledge and experience in post bariatric body sculpting. His knowledge in this area is amazing and his recommendations proved to be right on. I posted a review of Dr. Dry on the Athenix page but figured I should post one here too. I can't say enough good things about Dr. Dry's work. Just from the moment my husband and I met him we got the feeling that he was very capable and honest. He was recommended to me by a friend who had a procedure done by him. I spent over a month consulting with surgeons before deciding to work with him and I wasn't disappointed with my choice. I lost 135 pounds and had a lot of extra skin. I had the first of three cosmetic surgeries, a full lower body lift, at the end of June 2016. This is a huge surgery and I was very nervous about the results. Many of the after pictures I had come across in my research were disappointing. However, Dr. Dry went above and beyond anything I expected. He's a true artist and my results are beyond astounding. Even after losing all the weight I never imagined I could have a truly flat stomach and smooth hips. My recovery time was half what I expected to be and I was walking my kids around the zoo two weeks after my surgery date. My incision healed quickly and is smooth and even. Amazing Surgeon-! Dr Dry did a full tummy tuck with an abdominoplasty lipo of the flanks and inner thighs. From the moment I walked in the door for my consult I felt at ease. Everyone that I encountered through my experience was well educated, friendly and they answered ALL my crazy questions and concerns. At my consult with Dr Dry he explained the procedure with me in great detail. I never felt like he was in a rush or that my questions were silly he truly made me feel at ease. I have never had a surgery or been put under with a general anesthetic so I was pretty nervous. Prior to the surgery I went in for a pre-op they gave me all my prescriptions that I would need before and after the surgery. They explained to my husband what he could expect and things that we would need after the surgery. The day of surgery was such a great experience the nurse walked me through the process. Dr Dry came in told me hello and asked if I had any questions or concerns. The nurse put in my IV and she did an absolutely awesome job. After the surgery Benita who was the surgery technician went up and let my husband know how it went and how I was doing. Dr. Dry is a rock star! I had a humiliating, medically necessary procedure by another "doctor" that was botched, and I was basically left to the wind. The one good thing that other doctor did was to recommend Dr. Dry. From the very first appointment it was my experience that my needs were understood, that Dr. Dry had the confidence and ability to fix me, and that I would be given a highest quality care. My particular need was something that was humiliating and very difficult to even talk about. I was made to feel comfortable by every member of the staff I interacted with from the very first call. I also was given more dignity than I had experienced from any of the other numerous doctors and medical staff to date. That was almost as important to me as the procedure itself. Dr. Dry is an artist, and an exemplary doctor/ surgeon. I called Dr. Dry's office to get surgery procedure and cost information on my dad's eyelid lift surgery because his eyelashes are pointing to his eyes. The receptionist who answered the phone said that they would have someone call me to explain the procedure and fees and set up the appointment. It's been more than a week and nobody called me for an appointment. I checked yelp review and found similar complaints and wonder if it might be because the surgery is small and thus profit is small. I searched top doctors list and found another top rated doctor and got all the information on the first phone call. read more

Dr Dry is an outstanding plastic surgeon. Excellent skills, excellent listener, never appears rushed. I had a necklift and lower blepharoplasty (same time) and was happy with my results. I am a physician but don't mention it unless asked because I like to see how I'm treated as a "general" patient. In contrast to a few other consults I received from "top" local surgeons who seemed rushed, seemed to talk down to me as a patient and had offices that seemed like "mills", Dr Dry was an outstanding contrast. I first went to see Dr. Gavin Dry in March of 2012 for a breast lift and augmentation. After having a child my breast tissue had diminished to a pancake. I asked Dr. Dry to help put my breasts back to where they were before child, and of course make the larger. We then started to talk about size and position the doctor asked me to bring in photos of women's breasts I would like mine to look like, I asked to see some implants to get a feel for the sizes and Dr. Dry told me that he didn't do things that way and he would like to talk about the things I was looking for. After much talk I had thought we were on the same page. I paid a fee of over $10,000 and received the surgery. After all the bandages were off and the swelling went down I was left with breast that were much smaller and lower than before I had a child. Needless to say I was extremely unhappy. I spoke with Dr. Dry and explain to him that I was hoping for a larger breast with a little more lift. He offered to re-do the surgery for another fee of over $2,000. I again agreed, and went back to the drawing board with the Dr. And his staff. This time they actually let me see the implants and feel them. I played around with a 425cc or a 450cc and a 575cc I put them both up to my chest and I remember vividly saying "the 425/450cc was going to be too small, and the 575cc was too big and would NOT fit." I asked to see a size or two in between and I was told that there was not anymore I could "play around" with. The nurse told me that the Dr. Would try a few different sizes in the operating room and that he and the staff would come up with a collaborative decision with what the patient wanted. My second surgery with Dr. Dry was in November 2012. After speaking with everyone, again, I thought we were all on the same page, I went into the operating room and looked at the table beside the bed, on the table were a stack of implants, on the top of the stack were a size 600cc. I immediately said to the nurse "600cc get those out of here, I told the nurse 575cc were too big." After the surgery I woke up and asked what size they ended up using, the nurse then told me 575cc and that it fit and looked great. I was optimistic, knowing that when I held the 575cc implant up to my chest, it did not fit my frame. I went back for my post op appointment and told the doctor that I think they were pretty high and too close together, there wasn't any kind of a gap between the breasts and that they seemed to squeeze together causing the skin between to push out resulting in the look of a derrière. asked if it was something I was doing or not doing. He told me I could do some pressing in the direction I'd like them to go, but it seems all my efforts were for nothing because everything was already healed. I had another appointment scheduled to see Dr. Dry but my appointment was canceled due to the Dr. having a family emergency. No one ever called back to reschedule with me. Omg ,I am 4 weeks post op . I LOVE MY BODY first time I can say that in 26 years. Dr Dry is amazing . I was unsure what size implants I wanted after he spoke with me and reviewed my pictures he told me the morning of surgery we were going with 650cc silicon implants , because I wanted on the larger size rather than smaller. I am so happy I listened and trusted his expertise he is a Aesthetic Cosmetic Genius. My breast are beautiful and I got an amazing new stomach to go along with my new breast. I know have an outstanding curvey waistline and breast that even on the larger size of implants I think look natural at times. I have broad shoulders and a wide chest . I know if I would have went with the 575cc I had thought I wanted ,I would be unhappy and wanted to go bigger.
