BE very aware the possibility of insurance scam with this doctor. I went in for a breast augmentation consultation. When I made an appointment I was told that the cost of consultation was $75. I paid that amount upon the arrival. A week after my visit I have received a bill for $485. Apparently my consultation was more " complex" then regular. They also charged my insurance. I made an attempt to bring up the fact that we discussed the cost of the consultation and no one mentioned any additional cost neither before, during, no after my appointment. They are required by law to discuss all of the upcoming charges. There also has to be a written consent for all of the upcoming charges. Instead , they are hitting a patient with an additional bill a week after. They threatened that if I don't pay they would turn the bill over to the collection agency. read more

VERY BAD. The procedure is worth doing but was not worth it with this doctor. Avoid this doctor. I am an attractive (or so I have been told) 67 year old woman who is in good shape, easy to get along with, a professional person who wishes to continue working as long as I can. I am highly visible in the public. I had a neck lift done by Christine Nygaard on 3 Dec 2014. A compression bandage was used. Caretakers called evening of surgery and were told how and when to administer pain medication to me. I had told Doctors that I do not take pain meds. I was pointing to my left ear and saying "it hurts right here". I was extremely dopey and very nauseated from the anesthesia and what they had given me during surgery and recovery room. Pain medication was administered at doctor's instruction in spite of being nauseated. Continued calls of distress were made to the doctor the next day. Caregivers were told to give me more pain pills at closer intervals. Caregivers explicitly followed the doctor's orders. There were no follow up calls from Dr office. We called the doctor at home because I was projectile vomiting from all of the pain medicine I was given at Dr. orders. Her written protocol says the compression bandage comes off first day post op. I have a copy of the original post op date in writing. The morning of surgery I was asked who was bringing me to my post op appointment the MORNING following surgery. Her staff seemed to have appointments confused and mixed up most of time and changed them at the spur of the minute. I did not - in spite of repeated distress calls to see Dr. Nygaard - see her. My caregivers were repeatedly told the doctor was too busy and to give me more pain medication which caused projectile vomiting. I saw the doctor the first time approximately 54 hours post op. Her post op instructions clearly state if a compression bandage is used the patient is to be seen the first day post op. Caregivers were repeatedly told when they called the doctors office and asked for me to be seen that the doctor was too busy - she was in surgery or in new patient consultations. It was not until my son called her office repeatedly on Friday after surgery on Wednesday demanded adamantly and emotionally for me to be seen. He told them they had their priorities mixed up a surgical patient should be taken care of prior to new patient consults. My appt was changed to allow me to come in 2 hours earlier than she had changed my first post op appointment several days after surgery. We were 8-10 minutes late for our appointment as I still could not walk unassisted. The receptionist said in a very hostile tone, "You are 30 minutes late for your appointment. Just have a seat. The doctor will see you when she can fit you in....." I was so wobbly I sank onto the couch in tears. Our appointment was for 1:30. We arrived at 1:38. The tourniquet compression bandage on my head smelled like vomit. My ear (the compression bandage was cutting into the cartilage of my ear) hurt on a scale of 1-10 with ten being the worst was a twelve or fifteen. The doctor's staff was rude, not at all kind or sympathetic or helpful. They did not return calls as they said they would. I have been told by doctors that the necrosis (suffocating of healthy tissue due to lack of circulation) on my neck is a direct result of the compression bandage being wrapped to tightly and for too long. Please know who is administering your anesthesia and their credentials. You can die from an inept anesthesiologist. Investigate the difference in a doctor who is an anesthesiologist or a nurse who studied anesthesiology for two years to obtain certification to administer anesthesia. I was told I would need a caregiver for one night. Surgery was done on Wednesday. It was the following Sunday night before it was safe for me to be by myself. I believe I was administered to much anesthesia. Having had previous surgeries, I never experienced anything like this before. I am left with serious scaring on my neck from the necrosis and will be undergoing surgical procedures for next FOUR YEARS to correct the damage created by this medical faux-pau. Dr. Nygaard was not attentive or responsive at the time I needed help. Nor was she or her staff at all professional or courteous. Her bedside manner became solicitous when she realized she had created at problem and then she wanted to see me frequently. Payment - all payment was made prior to surgery. An all around amazing experience. I saw Dr. Nygaard on the recommendation of a friend who is a doctor at Overlake. I had a lingering problem from breast surgery done by another physician. He did not do anything wrong, but told me he was unsure what was causing the small problem I had and did not have a suggestion to fix it other than to "wait 2-3 weeks and it will heal" (this is after the problem persisting for over six months.) I waited a few more months without any signs of healing, and my doctor friend harassed me into getting a second option from Dr. Nygaard. I'm very much a flannels-and-no-makeup kind of woman and felt out of place seeing a cosmetic surgeon in Bellevue. Her staff immediately put me at ease. Dr. Nygaard did an exam and while she also did not know what was causing my problem, came up with a solution to eliminate it. She was kind and warm and thoroughly competent and professional, and I felt zero judgement from her although I expect I'm far from her average patient. Although my issue was a small one, she was going to fit me in within two weeks for a quick surgical correction in her office. My insurance company would charge me $1200 out of pocket for this because Dr. Nygaard's surgical center is out of network. She was willing to do this instead at Overlake Outpatient Surgery so that it was covered 100%. Her staff has been more attentive and on top of things than any medical office I've ever visited. They kept me up to date on what was happening and what phone calls to expect. They called two weeks before the procedure to remind me to stop taking NSAIDs, and called again the day before surgery to answer any questions and confirm my check in time. Dr. Nygaard herself was a rockstar. Even for a small procedure like mine she was professional and attentive and made absolutely certain that both I and my husband knew what to expect. She called my husband the evening of the procedure to make sure I was comfortable and to answer any questions, and said her staff would also call the next day. Basically, even for a quick procedure I am getting the full attention of her and her staff. I honestly wish I'd gone to her for my original post-cancer breast surgery. The surgeon I saw was quite competent, but I did not get that overall cared-for feeling I did from just a quick procedure with Dr. Nygaard. I could not recommend her more highly. read more

I had a breast reduction with Dr. Nygaard on 1/15 and so far the care and compassion I've experienced from Dr. Nygaard and her staff is nothing short of amazing. My results are spectacular. I'm only 1 week post-op and already so happy with my results. We chose Dr. Nygaard after a wonderful consultation appointment during which my husband and I felt we got allot of information and were not rushed. We had met with 4 other surgeons previous to this consultation and while some were good this consultation had both of us feeling very confident that Dr. Nygaard was the right surgeon for me. I felt safe in her hands. Dr. Nygaard's staff were so helpful at navigating my insurance to get my approval in a timely manner in order to get my procedure done during the months that were convenient for me with my work schedule. They worked very hard to make sure it happened and that I was updated throughout the process. My surgery went well and Dr. Nygaard and her staff has seen me a couple times since then. She and her staff have diligently followed up with both me and my husband almost on a daily basis it seems to make sure I've been doing well. Typically I would not review a medical provider on yelp as it can be such a private connection, however I truly believe that if anyone is looking for quality care, incredible bed side manner and an in depth consideration of your needs Dr. Nygaard is who you should see. It is not often to have such a sought after surgeon truly listen and with compassion and understanding. I have decided that this review can potentially save someone from heart ache of getting such intimate work done incorrectly. I have had two procedures done with Dr Nygaard over the course of 10 years as well as seeing her for a consultation for a third procedure. She is amazing, as is her entire staff! I have referred many friends and family to her over the years and would not even consider having another surgeon touch me. My first procedure was an abdominal scar revision and liposuction following pancreas surgery and I could not have been happier with the result. I even wore a bikini again after the procedure! I had a chin lift performed by Dr Nygaard as well as having had a number of other procedures from her over the last 12 years. Every procedure I have had was professionally performed, the care and follow up from her staff was courteous and prompt and I had no ill effects from medication or anesthesia. Every call I made was returned, instructions for follow up appointments and check ups were given in written form, the staff called frequently to see how I was doing, and the doctor always gave me her personal cell phone number if I needed to make contact with her (he cell number is also included on the office message if needed). I had a breast reduction done by Dr. Nygaard 6 weeks ago. She is a rock star surgeon! Not only did she do an AMAZING job, but she has the best bed side manner I have ever seen. Most surgeons treat you as a case number and rush you in and out. Dr. Nygaard is the exact opposite. She spends time getting to know her patients and understanding their goals. She is warm as a person, and a complete artist in plastic surgery, all at the same time. In addition, her staff is incredible. i had scar revision on the scalp done by Dr Nygaard and the results are excellent. Scar before surgery was very noticeable (lumpy and bumpy etc) and now after surgery it will essentially be unoticable.
