Came in to get a Japanese head spa - pure calm. Bahar did an amazing job. She checked my scalp first to see how it was before we began. She then did washed and massaged my hair and it was so relaxing and comfortable. If you haven't tried it you def need to come in and get this service. After we were don't with the wash. She then checked my scalp again and everything we saw was gone. I felt so refreshed and clean. My hair felt so healthy. They had let me know they do the service every day but Sunday is only head spas and it's more relaxing. I'm like sign me up. I was already fully relaxing I can only image how a Sunday is. Amazing experience! I was long overdue for a haircut so I googled somewhere near me and this salon popped up. They were running a little behind on schedule but I wasn't in a rush so no big deal. I was looking for a new hair salon to take me in before Thanksgiving week, since my stylist couldn't fit me in. I've only ever gone to two salons for hair color services, so this was very nerve wrecking. Jackie made sure the color was even across my whole head. The blend was perfect. The thing I appreciated the most was she made sure I loved the color. At first take, I told her I didn't like it. It was too bright and bold for me. She said she'll tone it down for me. She didn't talk back to me or give me a hard time like most stylist I know could. I even apologized feeling bad that she had to do more, but she reassured me that my happiness and what I like is important. Normally it's already very uncomfortable for a client to speak up if things don't turn out what they wanted. Even team members crossing by my seat said that they all at Gayla's truly value the customer's want and will make it happen. Jackie also gave me a haircut. She did long layers which is not what I normally go for but I decided to trust her. It turned out surprisingly well. She suggested it because she didn't want me to lose volume with my thin textured hair on top. She did face framing for me and it was good as well. She kept my length as I told her I wanted. She even styled it beautifully with loose curls. There really wasn't much to complain at all. Jackie can be a bit messy when it comes to cleaning the product off skin like my ears or cheeks/side of face. I guess maybe I would like more of a message during the wash sessions. Other than that, she was very enjoyable to talk to and I didn't feel awkward or like I had to talk to her throughout whole appointment. The price for service was more pricey than I would normally pay for, but it's expected for a small business. Thank you Gayla team! I highly recommend the girls here. I love Gayla Hair Designs! Going there is always an enjoyable experience. Ellie does my hair perfectly! She is a true expert and doing hair extensions, coloring and cutting. She is so very sweet and truly cares about the customer satisfaction. I also go see Janelle to get eyelash extensions. My husband used to hate eyelash extensions and so I quit doing them for several years but then I went to see Janelle and she does them exactly like I have like so they look thick but natural. I had a disappointing experience at this salon. I was a client here for several years. I recently took my daughter here to get her hair done by Alejandra for her junior prom. (A very important day for a young girl.) I booked the appointment about 10 days in advance with Alejandra because she was recommended to me by a former stylist with Gayla. When we arrived we checked in with two people and were told Alejandra wasn't quite ready yet and so we waited. After several minutes a woman took my daughter to her chair and started asking her questions about what she wanted but it wasn't Alejandra. I see Alejandra finish with her client and take a different client to the shampoo sink even though we were her next appointment. I asked to speak to Gayla and waited for about 5 minutes before she came out to speak to me. I asked why wasn't our appointment with Alejandra honored. She didn't have an answer for me but tried to explain they were a team etc etc. I told her I didn't think it was professional that she wouldn't honor our appointment with Alejandra. We had booked well in advance and with Alejandra because she had been recommended to me. Gayla asked who recommended her and when I told her she basically told me "that she didn't serve any clients of that person" and started to badmouth the person that recommended us. So basically she didn't want us in the store? I would think you would want business to come back to you if a client hadn't been there in awhile. I was always generous with her and her stylists giving 25-30% gratuities on top of pretty expensive service fees- I would think you would want the business? We felt very uncomfortable at that point but the problem was that my daughter still needed her hair done. Gayla walked away from us and so did all the stylists. I think they knew that she was acting rude but they couldn't say anything because that was their boss. Anyway, I asked the lady that originally started the help my daughter if she would please do my daughter's hair and she agreed. I apologized to her and said " I hope you understand I wasn't upset with you it wasn't your fault" and she said she understood as it's an important day in a girls life to get her hair done for her prom. She was lovely and really worked hard to smooth over the bad experience we had. She did a lovely job and my kiddo felt pretty. Gayla is lucky she has people like that covering up for her unprofessional behavior. I always had a good experience at this salon before but I felt like we weren't welcome. It was almost as if the service we asked for wasnt going to make Alejandra enough money so they pushed my daughter off onto someone else. I think the stylists are hard working and talented but the owner has forgotten this is a service industry. When people ask for a stylist it's because we want that stylist not someone else. I don't think she realized I had been there for years and was just coming back and know who the stylists are. Anyway, if you want to make sure your appointment is honored with the person you booked, I can't recommend Gayla hair salon. If you want to deal with a professional, welcoming, warm person as an owner- this isn't the place. But if that doesn't really bother you, the ladies that work here are good stylists. I wanted to give Gayla salon another chance but am sorry I did. There are too many places in the Plano area to choose from. I won't be back. read more

As a girl with not very thick hair, my hair looks so voluminous whenever she styles it. Sometimes, I come in for a blowout before an important event and she always does a fantastic job. Spent over 5k at this hair salon all for hair extensions over 6 months. $300 of it was for pink and blue extensions. They didn't fit me right. I still paid $250 to install. $550 down the drain. Fine. I got them out a week later and went back to my original brown hair extensions. Thankfully didn't charge me to take it out. (I didn't know that would be used against me later) Now that I asked for the hair I bought,I suddenly didn't buy any hair. I was told I was never CHARGED for the extensions. I paid $300.. when I said that, I was given 5 pieces of pink and blue hair. Not $300 worth of hair by any means. And then was told "I didn't charge you to take it out" as if that makes up for everything. Apparently the 5 pieces of hair was "all that was used". So then can I have a partial refund? All disappointing practices. After spending more than 5k at a salon, you'd think they'd value you a bit more. Don't waste your time or money here. read more

I've been recommending Gayla since I started trusting her with my hair almost 16 years ago. She also cuts my husband's hair as well as our 18 year old son's. I'm excited that she finally has her own salon because I know if she's ever unavailable, she'll refer me to whichever one of her stylists will work best for me, and I won't have to wait to see her. And I do trust her enough to do that based solely on her recommendation. I have long, naturally curly hair that is (naturally) so dark brown it's almost black. Over the years, my resistant gray has spread and spread. Gayla gets my color right every single time. I've had her do everything from under-layers of red (and I mean, CRAYON red) to blonde highlights, to back-to-my-natural all over color, and most recently silver highlights (taking advantage of the trend & making it possible to go longer between touch-ups, since my gray blends with the silver highlights). She's so good that I just sit in her chair & when she asks me what I want I reply, "Whatever you think will look best." And I always leave looking like a walking hair advertisement! :) I trust her so much that I asked her to do my hair and make-up for my wedding several years ago. In all this time, there has been ONE time I didn't like the color, and she corrected it right away - I still left happy!
