After obtaining additional estimates from other contractors, we were advised that several of the smaller handyman-type items included in the proposal appeared to be significantly overpriced. As a result, we requested that those items be removed from the scope of work. However, despite removing multiple services, the overall project cost remained essentially unchanged, which further raised concerns. We ultimately decided to limit the project to repairing our shower pan leak. At that point, Nathan informed that the company could no longer do business with us. Unfortunately, this left us feeling that the focus was more on maximizing the project value than on addressing our actual needs as customers. We value transparency, clear communication, and flexibility when making significant home improvement decisions, and our experience did not reflect those expectations.

As the project manager, Mike Gast was extremely patient and accommodating, and provided lots of feedback to solve various issues. This was a large project that involved removing the garage door, retrofitting 3 sets of doors, framing and finishing for a custom look, inside and out. They even installed special thresholds so we could be assured of being able to roll equipment in and out of the space easily. After each stage of the job, the crew cleaned up the area and removed all debris. The price quoted us initially was in line with competitors, better than several, who failed to follow up with us. There was no cost-creep, and we finished at the price quoted us. Progress and payment was tracked on their online job project site, which was an added benefit and inspired confidence. I can highly recommend Mastercraft and hope to use them in the near future for several other home improvement projects. The company stated that the waterproofing work was completed and documented. However, after that response was posted, new leaks continued to appear, including leaks in areas that had never leaked before. Additional damage occurred to my home, including hardwood flooring and interior finishes. The company also stated that it does not reinstall unsafe components. Yet I personally documented damaged and broken pillars being reused, and multiple workers told me they had objected to reusing them. Most importantly, the company has since involved its insurance carrier regarding the conditions and damages at my property. Their insurance consultant inspected my home on March 18, 2026. If the work was completed properly and there were no issues related to the project, I find it difficult to understand why an insurance claim was necessary in the first place. Since then, I have been repeatedly told to wait for the insurance process. Months have passed, no meaningful testing has been performed to determine the source of the continuing leaks, no repair plan has been provided, no leaking doors have been repaired or replaced, and the missing railings and pillars remain uninstalled. The most frustrating part is that my home is still left looking like an unfinished construction site while the company points to an ongoing insurance review as the reason for delay. I do not believe a homeowner should be expected to live with continuing damage and an incomplete project indefinitely while waiting for an insurance determination. I genuinely hoped this matter would be resolved after meetings with the company's ownership and licensing representative. Unfortunately, despite promises that things would move forward, very little has actually happened. I will continue to update this review as events unfold so that potential customers can make an informed decision.

A basic sanding and wood filler (used elsewhere on the same project) would have prevented it. When we sent photos, Ricky agreed it wasn't up to his standards and promised to replace the doors after "a busy patch." That was half a year ago. Since then: no responses to calls, texts, or emails. We chose him over a Restoration Hardware or Rejuvenation vanity because we wanted to support a local craftsman who would stand behind their work. That trust was misplaced. We are in northern California and wanted a custom gazebo. We didn't want to pay for one built from scratch but we wanted a few special features. From the first time we spoke to Doug we knew he was our man. We have never dealt with anyone who was such a positive personality and so flexible and easy to deal with when we asked for modifications. Things we had never seen and perhaps nor had he -he would respond with "I can do that". We had him design us a saloon door in one side and when he was here installing the gazebo we asked him to move the entrance after the roof was on and he did it without complaint. Quite happily removing 16 screws and having to cut one screw that broke and it was absolutely perfect. His suggestions and comments were so helpful and his knowledge of gazebos is wonderful. But his biggest thing going for him is his attitude, the ease of reaching him and his dependability. His prices are reasonable as well. He personally drove from corona to Marin county to build it (assembled it after building it in corona). Thank you Doug! Escondido. We've been talking about a gazebo for quite some time. We looked on line and at hardware stores, and nothing seemed to be quite what we were looking for. One day at Belle Marie Winery we noticed a gazebo on site, and a sign indicating it had been built by Gazebo One. A quick internet search, we found a phone number, and called Doug. Doug was very helpful, from his very first visit on site helping us map it out, to communicating with us as we decided what style. He was also very patient with us as we "delayed" our purchase for nearly 6 months - no pressure, no calls, simply letting us know to call him when we were ready. As he builds everything in his shop, once we paid our down payment, he was ready within 4 weeks, just like he said he would be. Installation went quickly and smoothly. Doug is a very classy, very friendly guy - EXACTLY the kind of guy you want to deal with when making a major purchase that is going to be part of your home for many, many years. I Cannot believe how rude Douglas was! He didn't even give me a chance to explain what type of work I needed done. He was very rude acted as if I was a telemarketer. I may have used the word patio instead of Gazebo and was very quick to try to hang up on me. Once I explained how I was not telemarketing and calling in like any other customers to get a quote he still said yeah well thanks for the call. I called back and said I'm sorry what was your name? He laughed at me and said Douglas. I let him know I would be writing a review about his service and again he laughed. Great service Douglas! Not to mention his License is suspended for violations. I purchased a 12'x12' gazebo. Due to the insect problems at night we requested screens to be installed on the gazebo. The owner Douglas Damewood was patient and very helpful. The gazebo was built to our specifications and the final assembly was performed on our property. It was awesome to see it come together. The kids love it and do their homework inside. We wanted more shade in our backyard and we looked in to every possible scenario. Almost every construction or alumawood patio company we called either never called us back or no showed on their appointment. Doug was amazing from the very beginning. He explained the process to us, was honest about the expense and timeline and was always quick to respond to any of our requests. We couldn't be happier with the gazebo he built for us. I ended up selecting a Duralum cover that his company also offers, and I'm glad I did. It's just the look I was going for. I was also impressed with Adam's business model, which is built on quality and efficiency at a very reasonable price without cutting corners or sacrificing customer service. Now for the best part: A guy named Brody, his lead installer. In addition to being a super nice guy, his work is meticulous. The back of my home isn't linear, so there are bump-outs and protrusions, making the installation more difficult and time consuming. This wasn't the slightest challenge for Brody and his team. The finished product is snuggled tightly against my stucco and professionally sealed on the roof to prevent any water dripping through when it rains. I watched him work, measuring and cutting the aluminum to match my home so the fit and finish is far greater than I imagined. As you can tell from the photos, I still have work to do (concrete coating, fence repairs, etc.) to match the beauty of my new cover.
