Update: I got a call from Aldo earlier today that my truck would done and ready to be picked up at 4:30. Prior to today, Aldo kept in touch with me throughout the whole process and repairs. He made sure I understood what was being replaced and how long it would take to secure the parts and start the rebuild on my differential. The price was stellar and way more reasonable than my local Frontier Ford-- Aldo is honest and didn't eye gouge me. Fast forward to the day of the pick up, I arrived a little earlier than expected and checked in. Aldo told me what was done to the truck and took me for a test drive around the block, explaining to me what happened and how it broke. Then he told me about the whole break in process and to take it easy for the first 25 miles and then the next 25 miles and to see him after my 500 mile break in, so he can replace the fluids. I recently had the pleasure of meeting Aldo when I had my 2014 Chevy equinox towed to him after being told by another mechanic that it needed a new transmission. The first thing Aldo noticed was that my tires were not all the same size (which I never noticed). He got out a tape measure & showed me and explained to me why it was so important & all the damage it can cause - no other mechanic had ever noticed it or bothered to tell me the issues it could cause - right then & there I knew I was at the right place! Called back after a 1 plus year wait from COVID and the owner Aldo honored the price quoted pre-covid , the work was fast and excellent , I highly recommend Gearmaster . They installed 4:10 gears in my 2000 Ford F150 replacing the 3:31 gears that made the 4.2 V-6 with the Mazda 5 speed a real pain to drive with my camper on it . Definition of a crook! I took Aldo my 2014 Chevy Impala back in November of 2021 to rebuild my transmission. First red flag should have been when every time he gave me a date that my car would be ready I would have to call him only to find out that he will need to keep it another day or 2. He ended up keeping my car for a month when I dropped it off in November. (Side Note: I was told it would only take about a week.) Well once I finally got my car back it road good for MAYBE a week and I was calling him back . He kept the car another week. Got my car back and I started having the same problems again and so I called him back again. This went on until about April of 2022. Now I'm back having the same exact problem again but this time I'm not taking back to Aldo I don't care if it is under warranty. I don't trust him at all!!! read more

Long overdue but very necessary - this place is the go to for gear workings and rebuilds. Aldo and his crew are the ideal place and staff if you're in the need for any solid gear repair. I've been going to aldo for about 3 years now and have taken all of my gear jobs to him. 2 of my own cars, referred friends, and the other my lady's car for a new clutch on her stick shift Accord. His shop is clean and tidy(says a lot about quality and efficiency IMO) and his staff always keeps you up to date. Aside from that Aldo as a person and business owner is a solid guy. Always approachable and will ensure to give you all the available options to you, also things that can be changed that are worn or will need work in the future since they're the i.e. seals, bearings, etc. No pressure but is always nice to know what's needed without the pressure of feelings inclined to get the work done. That's what a good shop does. On my 2 door he rebuilt the transfer to new standard and the outer casing was brand new. This was after calling their shop, before that I called 5 other shops all of which had a far out wait and wanted to charge me basically the price of a new transmission...for a xfer case job! His price was under what the competitors wanted which initially made me leery if Im being honest but so happy I went with his shop. That started my relationship taking all of our cars to these guys. With a 3 inch lift on my ride, which is clean as is, it gave the underside that even nicer new look to go along with the smooth shifts. I've also had him rebuild the tranny for one of my cars to have it running as close to new from the factory as possible. Great price quoted and in great time. Best place in town! My transmission went out while driving home on Saturday (12/14/20), called Aldo at Gearmaster Monday morning and told me I could get it towed there and I was able to drop it off before they closed. The next day he called me with what needed to be done to the transmission and some options about doing a gear change. My truck had 3.42's and he recommended 4.56's because I have 35's. He was able to turn around the truck in a couple days right before Christmas! Not only does it feel like a new truck but doing the gear change gave my truck the power back to be able to tow like stock. If you are thinking about changing the gears in the differential to accommodate for larger or smaller tire size just do it. I was recently told by another mechanic that I needed a transmission so I called Gearmaster and spoke with Dave, he told me to bring my truck by and that they would take a look for free and let me know if I needed a transmission. As he put it, the main thing this old friend needed was some basic TLC. The car got a super tuneup, brakes, electrical shorts that had not been properly repaired before got fixed, and a throttle sensor was replaced. In less than two days, we were test driving a van that performed the way I remembered it 14 years ago. I was very impressed by Aldo's honesty, knowledge, professionalism and kindness. He runs a first class operation. Sadly, many other people will gladly sell you an expensive transmission, and if your car is in a state like mine was, that will just not help. Deserves a Zero star, called Aldo multiple times to set up an appointment to diagnose the transfer case on my jeep. He said come on Monday so Mondays here and call him in again to let him know im towing my jeep but then he's like im with a customer ill call you back. An hour later no call and i already had booked the tow so I get there and hes not there. The staff told me he'll be there shortly. after some time he shows up all and complaining about me bring the jeep when clearly he told me. Im obviously not going to leave my jeep in the hands of an untrustworthy person. But i went back to talk to them and see if maybe he could do it another day but he just starts ranting "I don't need this here, I got a bunch of family problems" If you have family problems why are you bringing it to your business and disrespecting customers. Fixed! My 2011 Jeep Wrangler wasn't shifting properly. I was dreading to take it to Chrysler Dealers, because both of the Santa Clara dealer shops are useless. So I found Gear Masters on Yelp, which was the highest rated. First impression: clean and organized shop. The gentleman I worked with, Aldo, was awake and quick and accepted the car even though I came in 10min before closing. He checked it out and 'accidentally' fixed the problem having applied what was essentially a software reset during his inspection. Even though he ended up not recommending a repair service, we decided to pay him for an hour work since he did fix the thing after all. These guys fixed my 2004 Dodge ram with a good differential rebuild My truck was making a high pitched noise and only at speeds of around 50 mph and also a (turbine like) humming noise when coming to a stop. I was pretty sure my differential was bad which ended up being the case. They did a full differential rebuild and the trucks been running great for a year now.
