Was told this place wasn't just another copy+paste microwaved Mexican place, boy was that a lie. Before we even got in the front of the restaurant reeked of rotting trash or a dead animal. Took over 5 minutes just to get any attention to get 3 of us seated during pretty tame hours which isn't a huge deal but then the tables were dirty and after we got seated we had to wait even longer just to get menus and didn't even get a drink menu. Then after we had made our decision on food we had to wait 10+ minutes just to get our server to take our order while little kids ran around the restaurant screaming. Over priced, low quality food. All the salsa just tasted like water and the food looked fresh out of the freezer and microwave. read more

On a whim we decided to drive on through Madill into Kingston to try Geckos. Glad we did! Service. 9/10. Chips and salsa 8/10. Margarita 8/10. Meal 9/10 (really liked the garlic beef in the tacos and burritos). Atmosphere not really Mexican but kind of contemporary cool. The others in the area are okay, but this will be our new spot. Great service. But the food is super basic. Quite frankly it tasted like everything came from a can, like the refried beans, the salsa, the pico. Nothing tasted fresh at all. Nice and clean eating area. I did NOT try any of the drinks but the drink menu did look good. But, I doubt I will ever be back to try them. read more

Service was not great, but okay; but food was very disappointing. It was a little on the expensive side to not even be able to finish my food or drink! Mexican food is my favorite, and for the first time in my life I didn't eat the leftovers the next day, matter of fact I tossed them that same evening. We ordered some of the most basic dishes on the menu, and it just wasn't good! We had margaritas, and they were absolutely horrible. I believe it was cheap alcohol. It was the first time I recall ever not coming close of finishing a margarita. I have always wondered about this place, and now I know! Really disappointed in this establishment, it is a Mexican food restaurant, the music in the background was not Mexican thus not creating a good atmosphere. Waitress did not know how to pronounce the name of the dishes, plus she forgot about us, it took forever to get our meal. The food was not the quality of Mexican food that I expected. I'm not sure where to start but everything was BAD. We had the lunch special, my mom ordered the beef enchilada with chili and I ordered the beef enchilada and a taco. The salsa tasted like it came from a can and the plates were hot but the food on the plate tasted like it was a tv dinner. Pros: it was close to my mom's house which helps when it's storming. The manager comped our lunch since we didn't eat it including my margarita. The margarita was great! We didn't get to see our server much but she seemed to be friendly. Cons: Bad food and the only thing I wanted while visiting was good Texmex. read more

Best bacon wrapped shrimp served on a tasty bed of rice I've ever had ! Great wait staff and ambiance.

If you like a good okamex this is the place to go! Combo fajita nachos were very tasty & the Verde salsa was awesome!! As far as drinks the frozen swirl was delicious!!! A must try when you are close to the Oklahoma side of Lake Texoma. read more

Had lunch here on the way out of Kingston, we double back because my friend and I were both hungry and I am so GLAD. Food has a great flavor, big serving and the price was reasonable. Service was excellent. Price on lunch menu was cheaper if you get in before 2. You pick the combination of food you want, depending if you want 1, 2, or 3 items . Food, margarita, and service were awful. Granted they had a few birthday parties, but just not anything I've ever experienced before. I had a frozen margarita and it tasted like it'd been in the machine for a while or something, kind of tasted moldy, hard to explain. There were flies buzzing around our food, so very hard to eat while shooing them off. Finally had to ask for a box to take it home because I didn't want to share with flies. The salsa just tasted like canned tomatoes. The food I probably should have just left it for the flies because it was very bland. Like they slapped some beans, cheese and taco meat in a dish which I could have done better myself at home. Service was awful too. No one came to take our order, we had to flag someone down, and had to go to the bar to get our drink. No one ever came back to check on us to see if we needed anything else. The other disturbing thing was, they had a reserved table set up for a birthday party, and they had the chips and salsa on the table before they arrived, which flies were landing on without the parties knowledge. Very unsanitary. I'm really disappointed, my first time there and my LAST TIME there. read more

So, we went to this place with high expectations. It was recommended to us by our realtor, who is helping us find a home in the area. First, let me start with the positive. The restaurant was clean, and spacious. The distance of the tables was good for this COVID time we are in. Our waitress was pleasant, and for the most part, attentive. Now for the negatives. While our waitress was pleasant and wore her mask etc, the other waitress was a different story. She wore her mask down around her chin and seemed to have no regard for the safety of the patrons. On to the food. I was pretty disappointed with everything unfortunately. The salsa was definitely not homemade, it tasted canned, and didn't have any fresh things in it to even attempt a homemade look. We didn't even finish the small serving we got. I ordered enchiladas with sour cream sauce. My cheese enchilada had shredded cheddar inside, and nothing else. The cheese was not melted at all and the middle was cold. My chicken enchilada had dried out shredded chicken with no sauce to bind it or give it any flavor. The beef enchilada tasted like Taco Bell taco meat, except drier. The sour cream sauce was cold, and had no cheese or anything in it to give it flavor or sumptuousness. There was no pico, no rice and no beans. All in all disappointing. I left 3/4 of my food on the plate. Definitely NOT worth what we paid for the meal. read more

Just left the restaurant. Service was quick & friendly, which was the only positive. Food was cold & old & flavorless and from a can...have had TV dinners that were much better. Chips were fried there...but days earlier & very stale & tough. Street taco tortillas so greasy, they were brown. Could go on...just Very very disappointed. Quality is not there. Six months ago this was a really good restaurant: chicken fajitas fajita salad etc. tonight I ordered a fajita salad - taco shell was small , about half the size maybe a third the size of the original, all it was was lettuce and small bits of diced grilled chicken portions were small sparse there was no pico de gallo there was no fried onions or grilled onions or grilled peppers I was really disappointed because I was bringing two people out there recommending this as the best Mexican restaurant in the area and was embarrassed at how small the portions were for everybody and how the quality really took a nose dive! read more

Geckos has become one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I have been coming for several years before I moved to Kingston, OK. Food is homemade and freshly made daily. Service is good. They make a great frozen Margarita which is half priced on Tuesdays. Recently, the restaurant has been changed to new management and I think the food is better since the change. People's opinions of Mexican foods vary but I really like this restaurant. Gecko's is better compared to cardboard TV dinner Mexican restaurants in the Lewisville-Flower Mound suburbs of the Dallas area where I moved from a couple of years ago. read more

This is my favorite place to eat when we visit Texoma. It is a little Tex-Mex spot that has always had friendly service & good food. I usually get the taco salad, vegetarian version, and have liked it each time. Today they brought out a side of fresh avocados & steamed beans for my daughter, very fresh. We had lunch Friday, July 24th. Staff was very friendly and the service was very good. The food was excellent. The eating section and restrooms were very cleaned. We enjoyed the salsa and chips. And, the Fish Tacos plate was excellent, including the size portions at a great price. We especially enjoyed the owner - Michele who took time to sit with us and chat for a few minutes. This is pretty much the only restaurant in Kingston, unless you want eat at Sonic or Subway. I like that its a 'hole in wall' restaurant. We go there almost every time we go to our lake house (we live in Dallas) I asked them for loaded queso (which they didn't know what that was) so after a couple visits, they now offer it (beef, sour cream, guac)... You're welcome! Fajitas are good, and we sometimes stop by to get nachos 'to go' for lunch. read more
