I'm gonna make him an offer he can't refuse... CODFATHER FISH & CHIPS | Randomly stumbled upon the CODfather on Google Maps and once we saw it, we couldn't not go. And we were not disappointed. We shared an order of the World Famous Fish & Chips and also tried a chicken curry pie. The fish fillet was HUGE! Came out hot and perfectly crispy. I tried to pick it up for a photo and it was hard to touch with my bare hands because it was so hot. The chips were exactly that, chips. Well, the British kind. Comes with a flavorful and creamy tartar sauce. And the pie was perfectly flakey and seasoned perfectly. TBH I love that they just keep it simple. Definitely will be stopping by here next time I'm in Charleston!!

We came just for a quick meal but maybe it was a little too casual for me. They charge for water so we brought our own and they don't have plates, just give you a paper wrapped parcel of food [[HIGHLIGHT]]They have a pub side and fish & chips side.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We got some mushy peas and an order of fish and chips to share because we weren't super hungry. It's one large filet per order with chips aka fries & tarter sauce Tbh, their tartar sauce was my favorite part. The chips were not what I was expecting, some were overcooked and some were undercooked? Or just hard? Maybe because we came late, but I'm not sure The mushy peas were pretty good, kinda tasted like bright green mashed potatoes The fish itself ( I think it was cod) was good! The fish was soft and moist while the shell was crunchy and broke easily - great texture [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant had a dive bar vibe imo[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There was plenty of parking in the private lot which was easy to get in and out of

The fish was fantastic! They were super busy but still managed to get the food out in a timely fashion. Fish was hot and not greasy with ample portions. The batter was perfect! [[HIGHLIGHT]]The ambience was fish house style with bench style tables or high tops.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I will be back!

Best fish and chips I've ever had. Light and extremely tasteful breading, cod was so fresh and tasted amazing. Fries made fresh. Everything was perfect. Highly recommend

Managed to finally get around and try some fish n chips at Codfather! Ordering is efficient thanks to a simple menu and bold sign without frills. I got the half order of fish n chips for $12.50 and the tartar sauce $3. Nicely breaded, flaky cod plus chips were not salty at all which I appreciate. The tartar sauce is a must, the texture is coarse, not blended. Staff was busting their chops to sling orders out in a fast manner. There's a numbering system so stay alert to get your order if you're taking-out. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's plenty of seating available indoors, bar seating at the window, tables outside.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Parking is plenty on the side grassy lot area. Cheers!

Still one of the best Fish and Chips around!! Staff is friendly and [[HIGHLIGHT]]just a great place to eat.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The food is absolutely incredible. It's a huge piece of fish and a generous portion of fries. The food came out very quickly wrapped in white butchers paper. I would definitely come here again anytime I'm in the Charleston area.

Half order Cod and chips. Delicious cooked to order.

Surprised to find a British Fish & Chippy here in Charleston. Very casual establishment with both indoor and outdoor seating. Orders are taken at the "window", a receipt is received and your order will be brought to you where you have seated yourself. Cod was fried to perfection, crispy and light, although a mild oily presence remained, but did not deter from the taste. Delicious. Add some malt vinegar to the cod and chips, amazing. Check this venue out. Recommended.

Every time I come to Charleston, my guys always take me to incredible lunch restaurants and this trip the CODfather was the place. I was advised by my local colleagues to order the fish and chips and they did the same. Great crispy fish and the fries. Good portion size too! The CODfather has been on my list for Charleston for years so I was glad to finally give it a try. Traditional English fish N chips place. I highly recommend for any seafood lovers that live or are visiting North Charleston.

When I saw the codfather advertised as world famous fish 'n' chips, my husband and I decided to give this place a try. Parking is free on the side of the restaurant. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The restaurant is quaint with tables on one side and a large bar on the other side. The ambiance has a pub like fill. This is a very casual restaurant. We ordered our food and waited for about 30 minutes due to an influx of customers who arrived right after us. We ordered a whole fish and chips for my husband and a half order for me. The cod was fresh and hot, and the portions were large. If you are on a diet of any type, this is not the place for you. The fried cod was fresh, and the chips were hand cut. Both fried to perfection and delicious. The food was so good yet fattening that I didn't even feel guilty. If you are in the area and want some amazing fish and chips, this is the spot to come to.

Oh how I missed you! So yummy! Ordered sausage roll for the first time and the whole fish for this weekend. Quick delivery, arrived hot and delicious.

Saw the name of this restaurant and knew I had to try it on my short trip to CHS. Its an homage to British pub culture in a very unexpected part of town. It has a very casual feel to it and seems like it could be a local favorite. I came right before closing on a Sunday (7PM) and they were busy filling takeaway orders. The cashier at the front was super nice and apologetic and asked if I wouldn't mind ordering at the bar so I didn't have to wait. No bother, went to order at the bar and the bartender was extremely kind and pleasant. She was helping some other folks at the bar and kept convo with them and allowed them to eat in even though they were close to closing. Overall, service seemed impeccable. Food wise, I ordered fish and chips to go. Sadly, my order was messed up and I got a double order of fish and no chips. I was slightly disappointed until I tried the fish. It was super light and flakey, super tender meat and just overall an amazing piece of fried fish. I liked the batter so much, I was eating any and all stray pieces that flew off with my bites and tears. The tartar sauce was also amazing, I'm not usually a tartar sauce person but something about their house recipe had me using the whole container! Definitely found a staple for my visits to CHS!

It looks yummy. I love how it's delivered wrapped in paper like a present

I would change the name because the name suggests they have oysters only and it turns out there is more, not a whole lot but enough for a non oysterholic to come in and have something to eat while you chug an ale or one of the shots with a slimy thing in it I got to try a shot of something that tasted like bloody Mary's mix with an oyster inside, I felt the slimy thing going down the hatch and later ordered a dozen or so oysters Parmesan, cooked taste a little like scallops, not bad and I could go back and try something else The calamari was ok, not as great as I can make them if I had a fryer with a thermostat, the batter was a little too thick and I tend to like them with a see through batter not a filler, it was crunchy ok but maybe a little overcooked and not a lot of people know that calamari should be flash fried for about a minute and if you go beyond that is like the Michelin man The place is fun and be prepared for a loud environment because it is small but go with an open mind and it is a nice different experience I will go back and try their fish and chips

I have difficulty with steps but there were enough railings to make it navigable for me. The building was likely to have at one time been a small house. There were six of us in our party and we were initially told we would be sharing one bill and the gratuity would be automatically added. A couple of our folks expressed concern and intentionally ordered cheaper items and no drinks to make sure they had adequate funds to split the bill. Fortunately our waitress, who was a joy, did individual bills and did not put on an automatic gratuity. The policy had the potential to seriously reduce the restaurant's income. They should probably rethink this stance. As noted, our waitress was terrific and rapidly got drink and food orders sorted. The menu is pretty short, but probably a good choice for a small pub type restaurant. My wife and I both selected an on-tap local brew, both of which were good and reasonably priced. We both also selected the fish and chips. The order came with a side of cole slaw that was pleasant. The chips were obviously made on site and both properly cooked and well seasoned. We are always surprised at restaurants that serve obviously bagged and frozen fries. The fish itself was reasonably sized and nicely fried. Quite tasty, but we sort of expected good seafood as this is a sister restaurant to a local seafood establishment. For the price the portion sizes of all the meals at the table seemed just a bit small. So we will quite likely return. It's not fancy. It's not high end dining. It's a tad pricey for pub food, but overall pretty good. I note here that had our waitress not been a gem or had they enforced the one check policy, this review would have been a good deal more negative. I suspect they have an accessible entrance but it was not obvious. That may be a consideration for some and checking ahead of time would be prudent.

Takeout and delivery via Uber Eats and DoorDash are options. Hush puppies were nice and onion-y. Catfish was light and fluffy and not overly breaded and the fish flavor actually came through which I appreciate! Fried were basic crinkle cut fries, nothing special there. Fountain drinks are Pepsi products which is fine. Wings were nice and crispy, not super big but not tiny, and the buffalo sauce was good. The dining in experience could use a couple of improvements, specifically napkin holders and ketchup on the table, but I am not too mad about it given that they just opened, it's really a takeout place, and that's an easy thing to remedy. Overall a good local option that filled me up fast with good fried food which I am usually not a big fan of. J.Ja

She failed to indicate that they have off the menu items, and specials on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. It was kind of hard to choose since I had been eating seafood all week leading up to this visit and also trying to avoid fried foods this year. I ended up choosing the mussels and bowl of gumbo, along with a sweet tea. The tea tasted fairly similar to a lipton sweet tea from the soda fountain and not really something homemade and infused with fresh juices. Mussels - these were really good. Even if half of the mussels fell out into the broth during preparation. Gumbo - this was kind of questionable. My colleague also saw the redish hue of the liquid and said he was glad he didn't order it. It was filled with a lot of seafood, but the liquid was just too creamy. My colleague also commented on the etouffee that was being brought out to other nearby tables and supposedly it looked too dry. I also ordered a to go dessert. The bread pudding.
