On Google maps that number just took me in circles or it would say it was connecting me w an agent, then proceed to hang up on me after a couple rings! Tried making an account online and that was a goose chase too, as well as using a second possible number suggested by online support. I was a member for several years and, early on, the service was quite good. In the last year, agents were not able to fix problems but after 20 to 30 minutes they claimed they fixed my issues when they hadn't. When the box asking if the problem was solved and I was satisfied, two agents clicked yes themsleves before I could say otherwise Don't believe their "success" rate, it's fraudulent. read more

I have enrolled with Tech Support 2 year ago ($199/year) The only positive thing that came out was that they unblocked my computer I brought to their Best Buy shop. 1) But they were unable to open a corrupted file. They gave me the name of a company which never answered my call. 2 ) And their REMOTE HELP has been abysmal with me. Lots of boiler plate formulas ( "We are going to go to the bottom of it, rest assured we will solve your issue etc...Thank you for your patience... .blablabla...) Yesterday, I had a problem, very easily treatable: removing all editing marks on a text I have edited. These marks had popped inadvertently. I must have pressed a key unknowingly or the computer had "decided" to show them. -First, I got a well-meaning agent who worked TWO HOURS. He apparently cleaned the text from all marks. I gave a very positive survey for him. BUT when I went back to my text, all the marks had reappeared! -Secondly: I reconnected with Geek Squad. Got another "expert" He spent two hours on the issue. Then he called me, saying he was afraid to spoil my text by erasing it. I asked him to work on a copy of the original. I copied it for him, thinking he would go on. After waiting for him to talk to me, I saw he has left and has declared "Success" on the message window. Plus he left me the site of MICROSOFT for help. !! I brought my computer here to have it reformatted and Windows reinstalled. When I brought it home it crashed immediately and now doesn't work at all. Additionally they are extremely disorganized and will make you wait for no reason. read more

I discovered this store within the store while I came in a few weeks ago to purchase a cell phone. I happened to have an issue with my 10+ year old Lenovo T430 Thinkpad. The lid that opens and closes had been extremely loose and was quite the annoyance. The laptop itself still functioned, but I was concerned that eventually, the lid would break apart entirely. So I remembered about this repair shop. After a quick glance online, I noticed there were more yan a couple of people who had not had a very good experience with this place. That made me a little apprehensive. Thing thing was that his place is so damn convenient to where I live, and several of the other repair shops that zi had called. So I came into the store anyway to inquire about how my issue could be resolved. Unfortunately I was told that they don't actually do hardware repairs for systems that are over five ears old. I purchased a wall mount for my TV and Geek Squad installation for easily twice the cost of another service. They made me wait for 3 weeks for a midday weekday appointment and then they didn't even show up. I asked for a guaranteed appointment time and they said it would cost an additional $75! Ha. Of course I returned it and got a private technician to install it for a fraction of the cost. Never again, save yourself the headache. read more

The letter that was included with my phone return. To Whom it May Concern, I am incredibly frustrated with my experience with Geek Squad. Your customer service this evening fell far short of anything that would be considered appreciative of the business I provide. My phone broke last week and after waiting an hour in person at Best Buy, I was told that the Geek Squad no longer does in store exchanges. Hoping that the new system that replaced the very convenient old system would work, I ordered a new phone online and put a $250 charge on my credit card for a hold. After 4 days I finally received my new phone which didn't come with a battery or sim card. Placing my old battery in the phone did not work and the phone will not turn on. I have been on the phone with your customer service department for 1.5 hours this evening. I have been cut off 3x while being transferred and have had to verify my account information and my wife's information at least a half dozen times. After my last cut off between transfers, my only solution is as follows. I am ending my account with you. You took a perfectly good system of exchanging phones and replaced it with a god awful send and hope you receive a fix solution. It is a disservice to Verizon (who I am going to end my account with), to Best Buy (who will not get the new phone sale from me), and to Geek Squad (who won't get my business again, ever). You have a large company and I had just one of your products. I am sure there will be a ton of people willing to put up with this lack of care for their business. I am just not one of them. There were so many things that went wrong with hiring Geek Squad to install the 2 flat screen tvs that I purchased at Best Buy - that I now believe the company is just fundamentally broken and even the individual Geek Squad reps who actually did want to help me resolve the problems created around getting these tvs installed were essentially unable to do so against such a flawed system. From no shows, to doing a little less than half the work I paid for ....several phone calls and in-person visits (yes, it was so difficult getting things resolved over the phone that getting the installation job completed required me to go down to the store not once, but twice and demand that Geek Squad complete the service I paid $450 to have done.) I finally got the tvs installed, but what an unnecessarily exhausting experience. I have since done my research to find alternative services that have a good rep (I learned my lesson). If I ever have my PC break or I'm in need of some other technical repair for my personal computing equipment... Under no circumstances will I ever again consider using Geek Squad from Best Buy. The. Worst. Service. Ever. #bestbuyfail I dropped off my (just over a year old) laptop with Geek Squad last Friday (a week ago) and told them I needed the operating system reinstalled because it broke during a routine windows update (blue screen of death). The agent suggested I buy a new hard drive upfront just incase that turned out to be the problem. That way I wouldn't need to come in and purchase another one. And if the hard drive on my laptop isn't broke, I could just return the unused one. Sure, sounds like a good plan... I handed over $423.77 for services and hardware along with my ~$1500 laptop. And then. Radio silence from this place. Zero updates on the website. I called 5 days later, they took a message. No return call. I called the next day. Again, they took a message because they were busy. Then, I received a call back last night telling me they replaced the hard drive (which blows my mind that anything was really wrong with it) and they are backing up all my data (shouldn't that be done before R&Ring my hard drive?). Now they just needed to either put it all back on the laptop or leave it on the external hard drive. I called again today to get status... I get some other story on where my repair is the process. Zero consistency. I had to speak to two different agents who seemed completely incompetent. So then I asked to speak with a manager. I explained my dissatisfaction with the service and demanded to get a clear answer on when my laptop was going to be repaired. He said probably tomorrow but that my computer was running really slow on the backup. I wanted to reach through the phone and ring this man's neck. Slow? It's not my computer that's slow buddy. Awful. Awful. Awful. I can't even get over how awful this entire situation has been. I just want my laptop back. And my money back. I'll take my business anywhere else. I also fully plan to get a second opinion on my original hard drive. And if it turns out to still be full functional, I will raise the bigger issue of fraud. Quick update that it turned out Best Buy could deliver the tv for FREE and do basic installation, which is all I needed. I got a $179 credit for not using Geek Squad and Best Buy came over and got the job done exactly when they said they would with ho headaches -- and they sent me a gift card for my troubles. I still will never use Geek Squad but I really appreciate that Best Buy staff made a sincere effort to restore my faith in their company. read more

Best Buy Columbia Heights, I took my mom in to return an HP Printer (1 of 2) which she also purchased (with a covered plan) one for her granddaughter. It was brand new but never worked properly. Went to customer service where the associate Jocelyn was up beat and friendly. The rep explained the exchange policy and pointed us in the direction of the printers. A very helpful and experience associate Josh walked up to help. He answered all of our questions showing multiple printer options. My mom choose a more expensive HP printer to exchange out the defaulted one. She is in her 60's and doesn't drive so she wanted to check her PURCHASE before she left to make sure it worked this time. Josh proceeded to open and explain the directions, while doing so I notice an associate(Jeff) standing near by watching. I asked the Josh if it was a problem w/ us checking our purchase because the guy was watching. Josh was very polite and explained no mam, its OK. The gentlemen (Jeff) watching starts to interrupt abruptly asking Josh to go and help the customers. I then went to explain to the associate that he was helping us and that we were his customers. I also explained that he himself (Jeff) could've help the customers because he unoccupied and just stood watching. Jeff then stated in a rude manner that the guy over there was for that reason. I'm guessing he was directing me to the Geek Squad who was already occupied earlier. Jeff was very carelessly responded to my concerns with OK mam. He stood and waiting for the employee to hurry up with helping us to tend to the others. My mom never received full service her concerns w/ the printer, we did not want the guy Josh to get fired for helping us so we just took our purchase and left. I felt disrespected by who I found out later was not only a manager but a district manger. He was so rude and acted as if we were not customers. I've worked in customer service over 10 years (Nordstrom and Hilton) and I would never have treated a customer that way. To interrupt a worker from helping us to go and help others was offensively impolite. We will never step foot in another Best Buy or purchase anything again. The employees are more respectful then the Manager and that is sickening. I was really excited to bring my dell inspiron 530 for repairs to geek squad what seem to me to be a reputable business in electronic repair, their level of organization was out of of order because of the poor lack of communication I would like to give them a rating of minus no stars, Intially I took my computer in for repair the 1st of Jan I did not receive a call until about 5-6 days later in which I was told I had a power supply problem and hundreds of infected virus ok, sure no problem I was quoted a price of $243.00 a rep ask me did I want it repair I said sure I will be there for pick up in about 1 1/2 to 2 weeks the rep said ok they would fix the problems I receive 3 calls from 3 different techs plus a lot of automated calls from that time stating my computer was repair and ready for pick up I arrive for pick up on Jan 21, 2010 once I arrive at the local geek squad to my surprise my hardware tower was never repair and on top of that I had to wait another 5 days for repairs just to be told again what the problems intially was. I was so upset and disappointed I would not recommended this geek squad business to anyone who is looking for their equipment to be repair in a timely fashion, although eventually it was repair I was not impress I believe in 100% customer service these guys do not quite fit it all! read more

WORST. SERVICE. EVER. Bought a laptop at Best Buy Columbia Heights, spent over 700 dollars between the laptop and data trasnfer service. They told me it would be ready in two days, it´s been five and I haven´t heard anything from them. I´ve tried, REPEATEDLY, to talk to someone, but everytime I call they leave me in hold, after about 40 minutes I usually give up. My advice, DO NOT PURCHASE ANYTHING WITH THEM. read more
