    Strawberry Magic Stick

I've been a couple of times so far, and it's pretty good! The meat products (hot dogs) sitting out kind of gross me out but it didn't stop me from trying them regardless. *Can confirm I didn't get sick ha. I really love their drinks especially though; the tiramisu latte is sweet but delightful. Their bubble teas, especially the creme brulee, are good too, and I love their blueberry fruit tea! Of their pastries, I've enjoyed their berry-focused ones the best, such as the strawberry cake. It's close by and my boyfriend loves it here, so I'm sure to be back soon. Prices aren't bad either.

Cute carryout container for our passionfruit mousse

Stumbled on Ben Wong's in the hunt for Richmond boba tea options and just so happened to be in relative proximity to our takeout destination. There was still a grand opening sign up but I'm not sure how long ago that has been-regardless its magical. You walk into what feels close to clinical in cleanliness with a center console featuring beautiful and fresh pastries, breads, and desserts for self service to purchase. A set of TV screen menus over the counter show their drink options as well as two kiosks to order from. The counter features a dessert shelf to die for with an assortment of mousses, cheesecakes, delectables and then some. We ordered from the kiosk, personally preferred to truly browse the menu options while not craning your neck or feeling the pressure of a line. The options felt endless and while I managed to narrow it down, I wanted them all. We got a passion fruit tea with lime, tea jelly, and added brown sugar boba plus a mango pomelo sago featuring mango puree with coconut milk, sago, crystal jelly, pomelo pulp. Bonus: a passion fruit mousse to go (dessert after our takeout). Our name from the order was called and we picked everything up from the counter and the teas did not let us down. Beautiful in appearance and their taste matched - with refreshing flavors, the right sweetness and over all delectable with a helping amount of boba, or in my case sago as topping options. Later, we would get to the passionfruit mousse and once again we couldn't be disappointed. Light, fluffy, a hint of tartness and a sweetness that didn't make you need water. We happily spilt it between us two and savored every bite. A must visit-I'm drooling just writing this review and ready to go back.

Got the mango and the strawberry mousse cakes. Both had excellent flavor and balance. The mango had a natural flavor and it was our favorite of the two. The strawberry had less flavor, but still delicious and fresh.

My husband and I are the type of people that like to have a "sweet treat" on Sundays. We are huge bubble tea/boba lovers and we've been going to Ben Wong's since they opened in willow lawn! We first discovered them at their Midlothian location and we were so thrilled when saw they opened in willow lawn, too. We have probably been now at least 20 times and we love it. I personally am not a huge pastry fan but if you're into that, they have an impressive assortment of French Vietnamese items; definitely something for everyone. I love their bubble tea, my favorite being their passion green tea! You can dictate the sweetness level and everything tastes fresh. The boba is the right consistency and the tea tastes freshly brewed, and no artificial flavors in there. Would recommend!!

Amazing! I love (and hate) that this is so close to me. I've become a boba tea snob, and the brown sugar boba here far exceeded my expectations. It was delicious - not too sweet, just the perfect balance. Also, if you're jonesing for a pasteis de nata, the egg tarts here will satisfy that craving. They're perfectly rich and creamy, and taste just like Portugal. Super clean. A well lit space with quiet music - great for working or studying. The service was a bit slow, but they had a ton of online orders when I went. I can't wait to come back to try more of their wide variety of drink and food options!

This was a newish tea place in an otherwise quiet suburban shopping center. In addition to tea, they had a considerable spread of baked goods. At the end of the day, their selection was reduced, but there were still plenty of high quality sweets. I settled on a mousse. Texturally, the hard chocolate shell and open sides meant it was physically difficult to divide it into any smaller pieces in order to eat it. The taste was rich enough. Savory options were available, but were limited by comparison. Among their tea options was a watermelon special for the season. A unique fusion, it was full of fruit pulp but also a grass jelly only found in Asian beverages (there are a lot of non-gelatin jellies for the vegetarian at these sorts of places). I was a tad confused on whether to order from a kiosk or a person, and there was also some confusion about labeling of the self-serve pastries and the tea specials. They have another location south of Richmond, and while there were a couple of points that could have been better, overall I expect success from them.

Went to Ben Wong's Tea with my girlfriend a while back and I'm glad we stopped by. We ended up grabbing some sweets that day, and everything felt pretty premium, they really put thought into what they offer. There's a big variety of options, and honestly, half the stuff I hadn't even heard of before. It was nice to just browse and explore their options. The ambiance is definitely a highlight. It's a relaxed spot very "post up with a laptop and zone in" kind of energy. I've seen a few people working in there every time I've went. Whether you're grabbing a drink or just want a calm place to hang out, it pretty chill. I went back another day before work and got a strawberry matcha just to try something different. I'm not usually a big matcha guy, but I actually liked it. The flavor was there, it didn't feel watered down or overly sweet, and the staff had it out pretty quickly. Everyone seemed friendly and welcoming, which always adds to the vibe.

I'm so happy that this shop opened up in Willow Lawn. Service: the owner is very nice and was very accommodating for cake orders, answered any questions we had! Vibes: super clean, bright, open. Quite cute. Drinks: I personally like the drinks, and how you can customize the sugar and ice. But, be aware that the taro milk tea is made with what looks like real taro paste instead of a flavored powder, and passionfruit tea is made with the fruit pulp with the seeds. Some of my friends were surprised by this. I love the fruit teas, and the normal milk tea is very solid, highly recommend. Food: the breads are BEAUTIFUL. And tasty. Looks like they are consistently revamping their offerings so I'm sure you will be able to find something you like. I personally love the sausage bread. The breads are soft and fluffy. The sweet pastries are not super sweet but have nice flavor. Takeout: I recommend asking for drinks in a plastic bag. Mine was in a paper bag, and the drink leaked, soaking the bag. I did not notice when I picked up the order, and ended up spilling the drink all over the floor. Over all, for Richmond, this is a solid solid place.

mango 3D mousse cake, strawberry 3D mousse cake, strawberry cake

There's a good selection for sure, but this place is so overhyped. The boba is mediocre, and the bingsu as well. The pastries don't feel or taste fresh, they aren't heated up either. The cake slices are dry and flavorless. I've been disappointed by multiple items on the menu multiple different times. The display is great but misleading.

Finally trying Ben Wong's and boy does this place have OPTIONS! Hope you're not indecisive like myself or you'll be scrolling through the menu on the kiosk for 15 min or walking laps around the pastries. I finally decided on the taro matcha bubble tea and my mom decided on the strawberry slush. You're able to customize your drink and adjust the sweetness, ice level and add any toppings. I think the taro matcha was supposed to have bubbles which was a little disappointing they were omitted but the drink was still very tasty overall. The pastries were definitely the stand out. The cream cheese bun and the curry bun were top tier I could eat them every day. I had a very hard time choosing which pastry I wanted and can't wait to try more! Would definitely recommend Ben Wong's! The inside is very chic and cute with many tables good for groups!

Ben Wong's Tea recently opened in Willow Lawn and I had a nice time trying their bakery items! Their pastries are self-serve using provided tongs/trays and you pay at the counter. Staff were friendly and boxed up my items for me to-go. The seating area inside was bright, clean and open. -Chocolate bun: bread was soft and fluffy, the cream tasted a bit more like coffee than chocolate - still good though! -Taro bun: pretty presentation, the filling wasn't too sweet which was great. -Coconut cream bun: probably my favorite! It had plentiful whipped cream filling which was incredibly airy and fluffy. The bread was super soft too. -Pork floss bread: did not skimp on the pork floss which was amazing (just a tad saltier than I prefer). Prices were reasonable and they had a nice selection of sweet and savory pastry options (though I clearly lean towards sweets!). Will have to return to try their milk tea too!

Ben Wong's Tea is an awesome addition to Willow Lawn! There wasn't a good bubble tea and dessert spot in this specific area so it'll be nice to stop by here. They offer a wide variety of bubble teas, pastries, and cakes. This location also has shave ice for dine in only. All the pastries and cakes I saw were very reasonably priced. The pastries I tried were fluffy and not too sweet. They made for an easy quick bite without that heavy feeling afterwards. I also tried the brown sugar bubble milk tea and adjusted the ice and sugar level to my liking. I believe it came with cheese foam on top which made it a little sweet and salty. The medium was slightly small for the price. They have an app so you can look at the menu, order ahead, or gain rewards. In store you can order at the counter or on tablets. They have plenty of seating and lots of outlets so it would make a great spot to do some work or catch up with friends.

I'm still newer to Boba tea and the Asian pastry scene. That being said this place is solid. The store is clean, the staff is patient and the tea and pastry's are pretty good. I highly recommend the chicken Katsu croissant pastry!

I was a bit disappointed that they only offer whole or oat milk, as I was used to having more milk options (like low fat or nonfat). I can't drink whole milk and I'm not a big fan of oat milk. The barista recommended that I try the oat milk and said if I didn't like the drink, they would make me something else. I asked for light oak milk and hoped for the best. My latte was served in layers, so I got a big blast of oat milk in my first sip, but after I mixed my latte, it tasted so much better. The coconut flavor really came through and offset the oat milk flavor. I was really happy with my drink and with the super helpful barista. I'll for sure be coming back!

As anyone can see by my other reviews, I give a lot of 4 and 5-star ones, and am generally not a complainer. When I rate something low, there's really a reason. There was nothing for me to like about this place. First, there was no signage to speak of. It wasn't real easy to find. I didn't even know I had found the right place until I saw the name of the place on the bags of coffee. When I came in, it was a cold feeling, not a friendly one. Every person I dealt with behind the counter wasn't warm or inviting. I got the feeling that they felt I "should have known" where to order, and "should have known" where to wait, or to pick up my coffee. I got a takeout hot coffee but had to interrupt and kindly ask for a lid. And when I did I got a vibe like I was an irritation or something. I went out to the car with my coffee and told my husband I hoped it was really outstanding coffee with what I had to go through to get it. And you know what, it wasn't all that great. It's not worth going back for. I don't get why people like or recommend this place.

The cup was very large and I could see someone sharing this amongst 2 or 3 people easily. The cashier was nice when ordering, ensured we were okay with it being topped with gelato and provided us with napkins from behind the counter. The pistachio Gelato was the star of the show it was very flavor realistic to pistachio and was my favorite part of the whole cup. Overall, I think the Dubai chocolate cup was a fun one time experience, I'd recommend going with someone you can share with if you wanted to give it a try and maybe asking for extra chocolate. If the cup is not something you're interested in I would recommend getting the pistachio gelato and maybe adding nutella as a topping if that is an option. You would get a similar flavor with a much easier eating experience!
