But no, not only did I not get to use it (after I already placed the order cuz they didn't want to do it beforehand), they also took my gift cards. The employee who helped me didn't understand me but also didn't ask for clarification, even though I explained to her at least twice.

I was working very hard to avoid going to Starbucks after eating at Sugarfish. I saw an older lady that was exuding a high quality aura walking out of this place so naturally I was intrigued. Both locations I've visited were very clean and very welcoming. The service was very friendly. During my first time they offered to taste testers. First time I settled in pistachio affogato. I really regretted it. I needed a double serving! So for my 2nd time I made sure to order two scoops and two espresso shots. And my goodness just typing this is making me want to get some today.

However, when I spotted this store as I was walking around the area, I had to go. Inside, there were two employees, and fortunately, it was not crowded on a Monday afternoon, so I was helped immediately. I sampled three flavors: Hong Kong Milk Tea with Toasted White Chocolate, Jasmine Milk Tea Almond Stracciatella, and Honey Lavender. Hong Kong Milk Tea with Toasted White Chocolate: This was a special flavor. I LOVE Hong Kong Milk Tea, so I was really excited to try this one. However, I thought the tea flavor was way too strong, and I usually love a strong tea flavor. I really loved the textural element of the toasted white chocolate though. Jasmine Milk Tea Almond Stracciatella: Another special flavor. I also love Jasmine Milk Tea, LOL, so I had to try this as well. Honestly... this had the opposite problem of the Hong Kong Milk Tea ice cream: I could barely taste the jasmine tea flavor! Maybe the almond stracciatella masked the jasmine flavor? In my opinion, jasmine + chocolate don't go well together. Honey Lavender: This is one of their classic flavors, and it was easily the best flavor out of all of them. Incredible balance of honey and lavender!! Loved how floral the lavender flavor was, as if there is too much lavender, it can taste soapy. Luckily, that was not the case. It was so good as the flavors were on-point, it was creamy, and had a perfect amount of sweetness. It's a classic for a reason! I ended up getting a single scoop of the Honey Lavender which came out to $6.95. Honestly, pricey for a single scoop, but the flavor made up for it at least. Still, I don't think I'd go out of my way to go to Salt & Straw because it is pricey. If I am ever nearby, though, I'd probably visit again. They have really unique flavors during their monthly special, but I just hope that they execute them well the next time I visit. If not, the classics are there for a reason, and I'd be interested in trying them as well.

It's only purple or brown rice, which is a healthier option, but I understand it's not for everyone. I got the regular size poké bowl with purple rice, and it's cooked perfectly that it has a fluffy texture very similar to white rice's. What I really liked about this place is that they mix your sauces with the protein in a separate mixing bowl before putting it into your poké bowl. Most poké places I've been too won't do this as an extra step - they'll just drizzle a bunch of sauce that sometimes the dry ingredients gets drenched and soggy. As for the fish itself, the portions are very fair, and the quality is good. They gave a pretty generous amount of avocado as well, which was very fresh, and you do not have to pay extra for it. Rarely do I come across a poké restaurant that does this.
