Since Uswirl and Brain Freeze have closed this is the last good frozen yogurt place in Chico. Clean, modern, good froyo, gelato, and a ton of different delicious toppings. Froyo is one of my favorite things on this planet so I decided to try this place. The fun part about going to a new place is trying all of the flavors, however, they limit you on the amount that you can try... lame. I asked for where the sample cups were and they handed me one cup and told me the limit was two. Anyways, good flavors and good toppings. Great froyo place overall. read more

Best yogurt in Chico. We always go here, it's never crowded, and the owners are nice. There are so many toppings depending on your taste buds. Their yogurt is always cold and creamy, and not soft and runny (when they just put it in the machine and it doesn't get time to churn) The price is by oz. They're yogurt is mediocre at best, and when it's $11.00!!!!?!! For a not even full cup!?!??!What in the literal heck man? Never have I ever been charged so OUTRAGEOUSLY for yogurt. Getting a cup and filling it to about 2/3, to "maybe" 3/4s full and getting charged that!?!? I almost wanted to push my yogurt over the counter, and onto the very snide, arrogant, cashier's shoes. I have been to several places where it's "weigh and you pay" and gotten the same amount I always do, and never EVER has it been more than $8.00 AT MOST! We have been coming to Gelayo for over a year now, and won't even think of going anywhere else. The owners greet us by name when we come in, make sure we have everything we need, and make us feel completely at home. This is by far the CLEANEST restaurant in town. I wish I could keep my bathroom at home as spotless as theirs. read more

Man, this place is awesome. The interior is nice and clean in appearance with TVs and music. They have a decent selection gelato (though not as good as Powell's) , some good soft serve yogurt options like no-sugar added. This place is absolutely amazing. Both the gelato and frozen yogurt are handmade by the owners every morning. There are many gelato flavors that are entirely made with fresh fruit. You add all your own toppings and the whole thing is paid for by the ounce. There are even frequent buyer cards so every 10 times you get a free cup! My favorite is the green tea gelato. I don't care about frozen yogurt, so I'm rating this on the gelato. It's GOOD! And the toppings all look clean and fresh. I've been to plenty of places that have gnarly looking toppings that people have picked through, but not here! For some reason I get a craving to come here really late and literally show up 5 min before they close. They don't seem too happy, but serve me so I'm really appreciative of that. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars is because it's kinda pricey. I average a $7 gelato cup...then again I eat enough to feed small families. read more

This place is clean, has a great selection, and is reasonably priced. Owners seem to put in long hours (since they are always there when we go) and are very nice. Twice we went there (@ 8-9pm) and the owner was sitting at the register watching tv (store was empty) and as soon as we walked in he stood up eager to help us and answer any questions we had. Frozen yogurt and gelato are actually good, but owners spoil it by being complete sticklers being able to use debit or credit cards. Our order was 3 CENTS SHORT of $3...so we had to get change out of the car. I used to work in credit card processing and their cost is no different for $2.97 than $3...plus they surcharge for using cards for any amount. This place is close to home but I think we will be going out of our way to go elsewhere. read more

LOVE this place. It's actually self serve with tons of topping options from fruit to candies to chocolates to different granolas. Also has tons of sauces. And it is SO CLEAN. Seriously. This is by far my favorite place to get boba in Chico. The place is always clean and the owners are kind to their customers. Service is pretty quick as well. I don't get the frozen yogurt here so I'm not sure how pricey that gets but the boba I find is the cheapest here especially for the quality - $3.25. So I've never had their Frozen Yogurt but the Gelato is amazing, you can tell they use real ingredients because the flavors actually taste like what they're supposed to taste like. The chocolate and banana clearly is made with real bananas at a very high quality. It is a little awkward that they watch you but cultures vary and it's not like it's freaky...just different. The prices used to seem a bit high but I just went there an hour ago and got myself two scoops and got my girlfriend a scoop with some toppings and it was only like $5.50, seems like that much used to cost around $8.00. read more

The new owners are so great!! So much better than the past husband and wife owners!!!!! I have been coming here for years and I love their very strawberry!! Made with fresh strawberries... sooo good! Everything from Iced Coffee drinks to toppings is well maintained and delicious! I have read other reviews... and they go by weight people, so don't eat it before your weigh it! I would have thought that would be common sense, but I see parents letting their kids eat before weighing it all the time. I don't think you have the right to complain if you're STEALING! Best kept secret in town. Don't believe the review, drive by and see which shop is full of people. I don't know what the other reviewer is talking about since Gelayo has 12 different flavors and 8 of them are gluten free!!! Plenty of fresh fruit toppings... and I mean fresh as I've seen them wash and cut the strawberries as they ran out. They have lots of cereal toppings and candy toppings as well. And freshly made Gelatos to boot... must try Oreo Gelato (my fav). Gelayo has the best selection of frozen treats I've seen. Will have to try the boba next time. read more
