After dealing with ongoing stalling and electrical issues and dealing with Mark Kia who quoted me 8600 for an engine harness-they were able to quickly diagnose the problem -- the battery connector had not been properly installed and was becoming loose while driving. They took the time to thoroughly inspect everything, clearly explain the issue, and make sure it was safely corrected. A huge shoutout to Jeff for his amazing customer service. First time I found this shop was by mistake. We broke down in one of our classic cars . The workers jumped into action to help push the car and lend us a jack. About 6 weeks later my daughter's car started blowing hot air. I stopped by in the morning when they opened and was able to set up a same day appointment to get the car in. By end of day, they had her car back up and running blowing colder air than it previously did! Pricing was fair! Jeff and the whole crew I dealt with was amazing! Gemba had my car ready in a reasonable time, and they did a good job. The waiting room had ductwork pointing straight down to the chairs blowing very cold air however. Would have been nice to have air diffusers on the end of the ductwork to spread the air around a little bit instead of blowing straight down. It was very uncomfortable. That's the only reason I didn't give it a full five stars. read more

I took my vehicle to them because they claimed they took over genie auto repair next door that I have been using previously. I had a van that was having an A/C vent issue that was switching between vent and defrost that I took to a different shop before going to AZ Lucky. The other shop gave me a BS list of things that they said were wrong and I went to Genie Auto Repair next door to them to get it looked at. When I arrived and heard that Lucky Star took them over, I decided to have them look at it for a diagnostic charge of 165 thinking they were as good as Genie was. The AC was working in the front, but the vents were switching. They called me and told me that the vacuum modulator was bad and that it would cost over 600 to fix and if I wanted the rear fixed, they would have to rip up all the carpet to fix it and it would cost 1000 total. I decided against it and picked it up and it costed me 165 plus another 22 for a so called shop fee. The next day, I had another mechanic check what was told to me about the valve and was told there was nothing wrong with the valve and that the rear ac had a vacuum hose off and was causing the problems. The hose was connected and both the front and rear A/C was working again. This shop quoted me over 1000 to fix this van and all that was wrong was a disconnected vacuum hose. I decided to go back and let them know that what they diagnosed for 187.00 was incorrect and his response was "you drove all the way back here to tell me I was wrong" and argued that he himself tested the valve and it was bad, which insinuated I knew nothing about what I was saying. Fact is, it was fixed by only connecting a hose and is working now. Based on this experience I will never return or recommend these scam artists to anyone. If they can't make money the honest way, they should not get business. By the way, the diagnostic was for 165 and they charged an extra 22.00 for shop supplies they claim they used and I have no clue what the hell that means. This is a RIPOFF to customers and BEWARE of this dishonest shop. Let's hear what the response will be from them regarding this review. If the diagnosis was right and his attitude was different when I informed him of the misdiagnosis, I would not have given this review not to mention I received about 4 messages asking to review my experience with them. People should be aware of these dishonest tactics and this is an attempt to shed light on my experience with them. read more

I moved to Arizona eight years ago and found Lucky Star about six years ago. I never buy a new car, cannot stand for driving off a dealership parking lot and already losing thousands of dollars of equity. Needless to say I buy all of my cars with 100,000+ miles and always aim for 200,000. This works for our family but only works if you have a great mechanic. After three horrible experiences with 'other shops' I found Lucky Star. Lucky Star has been used by my family for the last six years. They have done everything from a simple tire path (which since I was a regular they didn't even charge me for) to over $4,000 in repairs. I trust Bob and his team explicitly with wavering. Here is why. If there is a problem with your car he will take the time to being you out to the car to show you specifically where the problem is... often with Goggles and black lights when needed. When you car is done you will have a replaced part like and he will show you the part that was removed from you car and where the specific problem existed. I have never been to a shop that did that, and often at other places I left wondering if the work was done at all. Recently I had just returned from the dealership where I bought my car (they threw in a year free oil changes for me) and they told me I needed a CV Joint replaced. It wasn't covered by my extended warrenty and the price to replace the joint on my axle would be $385. Bob looked at it and said for $400 I can give you a brand new axle not just replace the joint. While doing that he discovered a leak in my air conditioner, and an antifreeze leak. Needless to say total repairs were scheduled at over $4,000. He fought with my extended warrenty and got all but a fraction covered by them, and caught all those repairs that the dealership had missed. Had I driven that car to Flagstaff with those problems I would need at minimum a new engine, not to mention the tow! After all that he found another major part that needed to be replaced that would not be covered under my warrenty. He searched and found the part in three times better shape than my old one (remember you always see the parts he removes) removed it at the pound and put it on my car for a fraction of the cost... all because that is just the kind of guy he is... shows loyalty and treats you like family when you keep going back. Needless to say I could write so much more... but statistically 80% of you stopped reading after the third paragraph! Best place to take you car to be repaired. Hands down! read more

After talking and joking with Bosco for a bit, he jumped on the phone and called several of his parts dealers negotiating the price of parts until he found the cheapest. As we all know, finding a good mechanic shop is few and far between. Finding one that is honest, trustworthy, fair-priced, is even more difficult. On a referral from a coworker, I decided to give these guys a shot. They are a little bit out of the way for me, but WELL-worth it. Auto repairs can vary greatly, and owning a Mercedes, I know too well that some shops well recommend and even complete services that are not at all necessary. This family-run business has already saved me at least $500 in just two services from what I would have paid at the dealership and other local German car specialists. I recently needed a new coolant tank. I was quoted $260 from another local shop (not even the dealership). Lucky star charged me $150 out the door, without even knowing the other quote. Twice and two years apart, my tire failed, and twice AZ fixed me up. No appointment. I arrived. They were busy, yet somehow on both occasions I was out in under 20 mins. I went to pay the first time, and they shooed me away. So I waited in a pleasant waiting room, for only 20 mins, and in good company, and they didn't accept my money. Miki, Dusan and Bob. They even refused my offer to by lunch or coffee. At the risk of ingratiating myself to me, they treated me the way I treat my customers at work, and yes, that behavior type is not too common and greatly appreciated. I guess what I'm trying to say, is that it's beautiful when business folk want nothing from you and treat you so well. How deep an impression both occasions seared into my psyche. Call me old fashioned, but that is some old school manners on a genuine level. It's those subtle gestures in life that when recalled, elicit a big smile, and that's what they've done for me-twice. I had my cart towed here a few months ago after replacing the fuel pump myself. My car still wasn't receiving fuel and wouldn't start. After a short time, I received a call from AZ stating that they had rectified the problem and since it was such a simple fix, there was no charge. What? Two days later while my car is profusely bleeding oil, I call them and then they told me it was a 1500 dollar fix, trying to give me some bull about a broken seal and what not.
