This is a little hidden gem. If you live Ramen this is a quaint little spot off of Wake Forest Road. They have a limited menu but the food is good and always piping hot. The Tonkatsu Ramen is yummy. I get extra broth. The Edamame yes! And you must have an Asahi to wash it down. The staff always delivers excellent service. Check them out.
Ohhh yes to this Ramen spot! My first time here and I can't wait to return. It's located in a shopping plaza tucked in the back. When you enter, it's a cute, quiet setting with a relaxed, laid back atmosphere. The service here immediately made the experience start off strong. Everything was so fresh. The hot sake was delicious and certainly pure. My starters were great portions and filling as you can tell from the photos. I couldn't pick one, I started with three lol And my Tonkotsu Ramen was chef's kiss! This is my new absolute favorite Ramen spot in the area. I've traveled to Okinawa a couple of times and truly enjoy Ramen, and honestly, this location has the best tasting food that makes me feel like I'm right back.
To be fair, it's closer to 3.5 or a little higher. There's nothing really wrong with the food here but there's nothing notable or exceptional. The restaurant is "cute," with neon, sushi cats, and TVs. Quiet when it's empty, loud when there are large tables. Both the tonkatsu and shoyu ramens tasted fine if a little too salty. Salt was, in fact, the primary flavor. The broths had nowhere near the richness and depth of flavor that should have been present. The noodles were appropriately bouncy and were well cooked. The appetizers were also just okay. It's hard to screw up edamame and they didn't. They were served hotter than usual which was actually very nice. The furikake fries are overrated. The fries themselves are good and beautifully crispy but that's due to the light coating of cornstarch or rice flour on the fries. That helps give them that extra boost. The furikake itself doesn't stick to the fries and just falls to the bottom of the dish, adding absolutely nothing to the fries. The restaurant seemed understaffed. The server did his level best but was spread too thin. All in all, decent food but Miso Ramen by the bus station is much better.
We decided to stop in and try a different Ramen place. The restaurant is clean, great ambience with sitting inside and out. The staff was very helpful in making selections and had great recommendations. We ordered a variety of things from the menu and everything came out fresh. The food was very good. We all had different things and kept trying to eat each other's because the variety was incredible. I would highly recommend stopping here. We will definitely be back.
I think I just found my new favorite ramen spot! The vibe here is so good -- cozy, modern, and just the kind of place you actually want to sit and enjoy your food. I started with the CCR which is the crab meat over crispy rice and avocado and the edamame with black salt. It was so delicious that I almost forgot that I was here for ramen. I ordered the creamy chicken ramen bowl and when it came out I hit my happy dance. It was piping hot upon arrival, the broth was super flavorful, the noodles were cooked perfectly, and the chicken was spot on. The staff was really friendly and made sure I had everything I needed without hovering. I left full, happy, and already planning my next visit.
One of my absolute favorite ramen spots in Raleigh! Their Tonkotsu Ramen is my go-to, along with their chicken & pork gyoza. The Creamy Chicken and Lemongrass Ramen are really good too.
5/31 visit: My daughter and I had the taste for ramen but didn't want to travel too far out. We had been eyeballing this spot since we visited the taco spot a few months back. We decided to give it a try. It's a cute little spot with outdoor dining. We opted to eat inside. It's kid friendly, so no worries for us parents. The staff was awesome and friendly. Very helpful in answering our questions along with making suggestions and substitutions when allowed. Our server was on point with making sure our drinks were filled and our food didn't take long. It was fresh, hot and delicious. We ordered sushi, spring rolls, gyoza and 3 different ramen bowls. Nice size portions all around. Definitely will be back.
Cute ramen spot in the vicinity of Raleigh. The ramen was good, broth had good flavor, noodles had good texture. Staff were very nice and we got our food quickly (when I went it was pretty late and there was only 1 other table occupied). The decor is cute too, there are anime memes on the wall. Not particularly stand out, but I liked this spot.
Wonderful experience at Gen Ramen last night. Low key restaurant, nice vibe, great prices for high quality food. I had the eel rice bowl and my friend had a veggie bao bun appetizer and the vegan ramen, which looked fantastic and I think non-vegetarians would enjoy it just as much as anyone. My friend said it was great. Good service, relaxed atmosphere, great food and great prices. Just a note - if you've been here before and enjoyed their selection of sushi they are sadly not offering sushi anymore. The focus is on ramen and rice bowls, with a poke bowl offering and a few small sushi appetizers, as well as some tempura apps. Highly recommend this place but unfortunately, no more sushi - just great rice and noodle dishes.
The ambiance was definitely top tier, with a modern atmosphere and Japanese anime accents it was a nice tie into culture and modern decoration. Eric, our server, was amazing. Sat us promptly and was very knowledgeable about the menu and he gave us multiple recommendations. The karaage was good but it was a bit overpriced for only being 5 pieces of chicken. We also tried the bao buns one being marinated beef and the other pork belly, they were VERY GOOD and flavor packed. The tonkotsu was good and rich. I wasn't a fan of the noodles. They were a little too thin for what I normally expect ramen to be. My husband got the Miso and he finished the entire bowl. I would have preferred the noodles that were in the miso ramen, over the noodles I had. Overall, it's a good spot for ramen and not too expensive. Walked out with a $56 dollar bill after getting 3 appetizers, and two bowls of ramen.
Now that I've frequented this ramen spot well over a dozen times, I feel even more confident in my 5 star review. Everything we've tried has been consistently excellent: the furikake fries, edamame (we added furikake seasoning), pork katsu bowl, and various types of ramen. The lemongrass vegan remains the standout favorite for me. It is perfectly delicious! The staff here are kind and attentive, and often remember my regular order and/or specific requests I always make (2 spicy mayos with the fries instead of ketchup). Remembering me and my order goes a long way in terms of my perspective on customer service! I drive from Wake Forest almost weekly for this ramen. That speaks volumes because I don't often leave my WF bubble. Haha! Keep up the great work, Gen Ramen chefs and staff!! And please consider opening a location in WF .

It's really a 3.5 but anyways I tried the curry ramen with a spice level of 2. It was pretty empty for a Monday evening. Food came out pretty quick and it was alright I've had better ramen. I think the curry sauce made it a little too thick to eat. Spice level was perfect but it was just ok. read more

Totally hit the spot for our dinner search! Perfectly portioned ramen with good flavor. I'm picky with my ramen eggs and these were cooked perfectly. The Bao was the highlight though- some of the best I've ever had. Our waiter was very friendly and attentive to our table. We had a little bit of a wait for our food, but it came out hot which I can't complain about. There were plenty of seating options as well. The music choices were curious, but that's a minor detail. read more

I was excited to check out this new ramen spot at McNeill Pointe in the old Bendito's space. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating available for guests. I feel like the best way to judge a ramen shop is by their Tonkotsu ramen. Gen Ramen does not disappoint. You have the option of adjusting your spice level from 1-4. I opted for 2 and I think it might have been a little too much for me, but the broth itself was full bodied and rich. My daughter happily ate all my pork belly, while I ate the delicious boiled ramen eggs. My husband ordered the spicy chili lime beef ramen, a unique flavor that he also really enjoyed. The restaurant doesn't have a kids menu, so we opted to just get my daughter a bowl of broth and noodles, which came out to about $9. The menu also offers donburi and sushi, which I'm looking forward to checking out. Most of the other ramen shops in town only have noodles and rice plates. This is a great addition to this part of town. Gen Ramen is putting out some excellent noodles. The menu has a great variety including vegan ramen. Definitely planning to add this to our rotation. read more
The ramen slaps. I'd tried the other ramen places and was resigned to do without my fave. Thank goodness Gen Ramen opened. The broth is tasty and not overly salty. It's spicy tonkatsu. Get level 1 with chili oil on the side, otherwise it will be too intense. The egg was nicely rummy. The noodles were good, too, although I like mine more bouncy. The chassis was tasty but cut too thin for me. That didn't stop me from yumming it up. The portion size is perfect. I finished the bowl without feeling stuffed. And that's after I enjoyed their soft shell crab tempura. So crunchy. I was looking for a sauce but the seaweed salad is a nice compliment to the crunch. The place is beautiful with lovely decor. It's a good thing I don't live that close. Hurry up and go before the lines start. read more
So I have eaten here twice and both experiences have been the same. The difference between my two visits was that during one I had started trying to eat keto which obviously makes no sense when you show up to a ramen spot. The way that you are able to customize your bowl is killer and the staff made excellent recommendations on how to still make a pretty solid ramen. The broth is absolutely amazing and the food is just all around good food. Service is amazing, really cool spot. Definitely going back! read more

This was the BEST ramen I ever had! So flavorful, my first bite exploded on my taste buds 1000/10! The staff were extremely kind, friendly, communicative. They showed good knowledge of the menu as well, open to any questions. The establishment is very clean, smells great, great location overall. I would give more than 5 stars if I could! If you're looking for a great atmosphere and great food, this is the place! read more

We went to a great place last night for our date, Gen Ramen. Over by the Longbranch area(IYKYK). They have great ramen, buns and sushi. Everyone was ordering the ramen and picking up the bowl to finish the last drop. We had the shrimp tempura appetizer which was excellent, I had sushi and John had the Tonkotsu Ramen. Both were excellent. For dessert we split the green tea cheesecake, it is very dense and flavorful. It is very clean, tables and floors, and has a wonderful ambiance. They do a brisk take out also. read more

INCREDIBLE! I love 1.5 hours away and I dream of this place. Service is great and food is delish. I tried the Tonkotsu Ramen which is a huge serving of the most delicious pork belly ramen. The space has indoor and outdoor seating, pleasantly decorated and relaxed. It's a must if you're in the area. read more

The service was fast and friendly and the wait time to get seated wasn't long. I tried the Veggie Bao Bun, Takoyaki, the Matcha Cheesecake and the Tonkotsu Ramen. The Veggie Bao Bun was so soft and the vegetables inside were tangy and fresh, the Takoyaki balls were so flavorful, the Ramen was rich and savory with plenty of toppings and noodles, and the Matcha Cheesecake was creamy with a strong matcha flavour and it wasn't overly sweet. The prices were very fair and the portions are perfect; I had plenty of leftover ramen to take home. I will say the matcha cheesecake is quite small but it wasn't pricey and the quality of it was definitely worth it and a nice dessert to end the meal with. The atmosphere here was very casual and modern and there is plenty of parking outside. read more

A nice hidden gem, we wanted ramen but didn't want to drive to Cary, to our favorite place so we decided to try a place closer to home. We started off with the Karaage chicken and edamame. The chicken was okay, seemed to be a bit overcooked the edamame was great, not sure what they use to season with but we would definitely get the edamame again. I had the Tonkatsu ramen with pork belly, it was good. I will say I don't think their bowls are as big as other places. My friend had the Lemongrass vegetarian ramen and added a meat but I dont remember what kind. She also enjoyed hers. It was pretty empty inside, just us and another table, and the service seemed slow. It's a small quiet restaurant not a lot of noise but was chilly inside. Would probably go back and try some sushi, maybe ramen but they don't have a lot of the extras other ramen places have I.e bamboo, fried wonton skins, kimchi things I normally add to my ramen. read more

We enjoyed our casual Sunday evening dinner here tonight. Our party of two ordered edamame, two nigiri, two ramens, and a Coke. With tax and tip, it was just over $70. We are leaving absolutely stuffed and both enjoyed our selections. My only improvement would be to offer another vegetarian or vegan broth that doesn't include lemongrass since it's such a distinct flavor and also a veg bun would have been something I would have ordered. Friendly service but a bit lacking in we ran out of water and never received chili sauce. Location and parking are super convenient and we didn't have to wait to be seated. read more

Amazing place to catch up about life with a friend. Soft shell tempura crab and edamame with black salt were amazing appetizers and the ramen noodles themselves were the best I've ever had. We dined here on August 25. Calvin, our primary server, was not only friendly but also incredibly attentive, making our dining experience enjoyable from start to finish. He, Katie, and one other staff member (didn't get his name) provided excellent service. The ambience of the restaurant was a highlight and made a cute place to have date night. Everything we ordered was delicious, from the marinated beef bao bun to the creamy chicken ramen, soft shell crab tempura, and the two sushi rolls - Alaska Panko and Samurai rolls. The tonkotsu ramen stood out as my personal favorite, with its rich and flavorful broth. We ended the meal with red bean ice cream which was a nostalgic treat for us. This is possibly our new favorite ramen spot in the area! The ramen scene is improving here. One of the best parts about this place is how reasonable the price is for such quality soup. My boyfriend got the tonkatsu ramen and I got the lemongrass vegan ramen. I tried some of his and the soup is absolutely delicious, which he agreed. The lemongrass ramen was intriguing and did not disappoint. I loved the variety of toppings they included on it that all complemented the dish very well, but I kind of wish there was more of a few toppings rather than a little bit of many toppings. I was expecting a more forward lemongrass flavor but it's actually quite subtle in the best way, the soup is still incredibly flavorful and I would definitely get it again, though the tonkatsu was so good as well!! The noodles here also tasted more like usual ramen noodles and not the ones other ramen shops tend to use here. The egg was perfect. The bowl is also deceptively small, because it filled us up. Outstanding ramen. Only been open for 4 months at time of writing. Tonkotsu broth was excellent with perfect umami without being too salty (very delicate balance to get exactly right). Word clearly has not gotten out to the ramen heads yet or else the line for this place would be out the door. Pork belly chashu and split eggs were PERFECT. I've never written those words until now about any ramen I've had and clearly the ramen chefs are passionate about their broth. I did confirm with staff that the chefs do perform a long simmer with their broths and that it is not premixed and prepared at the last minute like instant ramen. Bravo! read more

Just simply amazing. Something about ramen makes my heart happy and heals my soul. The creamy ramen noodles were amazing. Everything we ordered was. And the service was just what my tired soul needed on this Christmas Eve. The atmosphere made me want to stay forever. Just very welcoming and chill.
