I love this bakery's food! This weekend I picked up a cinnamon donut latte to give me a little wake up. It was topped with a mini munchkin donut. The latte was flavorful but a little more bitter than I prefer. I also picked up some cookies. They had a good combination of jelly and cookie base with chocolate and sprinkles on one end. Every time I go in, they never have apple danish rings left but this time I was in luck. Absolutely delicious. I also tried 3 different sandwiches this time. The typical Italian sub w ham, salami and provolone. I did want banana peppers on it but they said they don't carry those. I chose it on the semolina bread. It was fantastic. I also ordered the hot roast beef sub. It came with mushrooms onions and cheese topped with gravy. The gravy was absolutely delicious but the roast beef was ok. I also ordered the chicken parm with the vodka arrabiata sauce. It was absolutely amazing. The only thing I don't love about that place is the way the lines are set up. When it's busy, you can't just place your order and keep going down the line to add it all onto one order. I had to pay 3 separate times, which is annoying. There didn't seem to be a flow with the direction of the lines. They were a little bit all over the place. read more

A place where you can get true authentic italian baked goods, pastries , sandwiches, gelato, pre cooked antipasto and cutlets as well as italian/ Sicilian gourmet foods. My family has been going to Gencarelli's for many years now. They have the freshest bread/rolls and their desserts are very good. I am not a huge fan of Italian pastry but I know other say their pastries are pretty good. The staff is mostly high school students in town who are always friendly and happy to help. The new location on Hamburg Turnpike looks very promising with new additions like a deli counter, pizza, and gelato stations. Over the last few days it has been super crowded since many people want to check out the new location. Hope to visit again soon once it slows down! read more

Review is for the new location. I went twice since they opened and just like the old location the bakery items are delish. Each time it was quite a long wait. The 2nd time we wanted to get a sandwich so we called ahead and were told they don't take orders over the phone. So we went there and waiting about 10 mins to get to the front to order. We were told they ran out of bread (all types) and it would be a 45 min wait for more bread. Aren't they a bakery ??! The lose a star for parking - there is not enough ! I tried the new place and picked out some pastries, breads and some foods for dinners The bakery selections were not very good - the carrot cake was awful, st Joseph's pastries were bland, the cannoli cream version was good, the Irish soda bread was the worst I've ever had, bone dry and it actually made you choke trying to eat it. The hot/ prepared foods were good- the meatballs, garlic bread , a few appetizers - all were very good. Next time I'll skip the bakery, which as delicious as it looks just were not worth it, and I'll get the prepared foods. N read more

Smaller inside than it looks. Line to buy cookies & bakery goods went across the entire store. Prepared meals look big, prepared salads station looked fresh but I wish it was much bigger with more variety. Very clean, interesting breads and delicacies. I left with a big cookie with chocolate crumbs around the edge and a circle of dark chocolate on top. It was fresh and delicious but so big it took me 3 days to eat it! read more

I have been there twice since they opened at the new location and both times the employees were too busy talking to each other or on their phones completely ignoring not only me but other customers. You can tell we love their hazelnut cake and we would use any occasion as an excuse just to have this cake. If you have had the chocolate Ferraro Roche, this cake tastes exactly like this. We've also had the Apple strudel which was excellent. The staff was always nice and offer my baby a cookie whenever I brought him. We haven't been there for a while since we found out my child had nuts allergies. Went there a few days ago for a apple crumb pie. I had high hope for it because of my previous experience, but hate to say I was disappointed with this pie. It was too sweet and just wasn't particularly good. But I guess you cannot make everything good. They have a huge selection of baked goods. But will definitely go back and try other things for other occasions. read more

I have been shopping at Gencarelli's since they opened in Wayne. Their products are wonderful and the service is excellent. The soups are marvelous; especially the White Clam broth soup and the Split Pea soup - it rivals my own! The Pasta Fagioli is good but has a little too much salt and oregano. But, add a little water and it calms it down. Breads are delicious. Please make more Split Pea soup! A great place to buy a wonderful meal for two for under $15 to $20 max - including a great loaf of bread. read more

Loved this bakery for years but yesterday's experience wasn't great. Bought some brownies some of which were on the stake side. More shocking was the Zeppole do San Guissepe. I ordered a birthday cake for my husband, and I was very disappointed. The cake was not fresh! It was dry and stale!!!!! I thought it would be fresh and moist! I even bought one already made. That too was NOT moist. I only like one cake and that's the hazel nut chocolate cake. It has creamy mousse filling. Not really a cake. Their cheeses danishes are drizzled with white sugar icing which is tooooo sweet! . They don't have plain cheese danishes. We need to find a good bakery. I called at 8 am today to ask if they had a 3-pound loaf of pumpernickle bread. I stated twice what I wanted. The clerk told me that they had one 3-pound and one smaller one. I drove all of the way over to have them hand me a smaller one. There were 3 clerks there. They can't get their stories straight. 1. They don't weigh their bread, so they don't know whether it is 3 pounds or not. 2. They don't make 3-pound loaves. 3. They just sold their only 3-pound loaf right after I called. Terrible service. Had been coming here for a decade. Cannolis were always the best . Today I ordered some and were shocked. They changed them . The shell is thick and hard. It could be used for body armor. The once creamy and glorious filling replaced with tasteless sugary goo. I am sure this is a cost cutting move and it's working. I will cut my costs and no longer be a customer. Someone brought Boston cream donuts up to the house and what a disappointment. The donuts tasted stale and there was less than a pea size of cream in the donuts. Why even call it a Boston cream donut with that amount of cream in it? This place is just going down hill. Ordered a mocha cake for a birthday celebration. Yellow cake with mocha icing. Absolutely delicious and fresh! It's definitely worth ordering a cake. Having worked in a bakery myself I know that sometimes items will sit on the shelf longer. I have had that happen with cupcakes too. But this cake was amazing and everyone loved it!! I'm very disappointed this used to be my favorite bakery. I sent a lot of friends and family there every time I walked in I don't think I ever spent less than $100.00 I knocked on the door at 801. I literally watched my clock change from 8 to 8:01 and they close at 8 o'clock. The door was already locked, and the workers were taking full shelves of donuts and bringing them to the back. The young gentleman answered the door when I was knocking, asked the manager who knows me very well by face. I told him I would buy anything. I was on my way to someone's house and I didn't wanna go empty-handed and I seen her brace her head like it was a big deal. I guess they're doing so well building a new place. They don't need money. We drove out to Gencarelli's just to get their apple turnovers. We have had their pastries before so we knew what we SHOULD be getting. What a huge disappointment. When we got home, we realized we got two-day old turnovers, talk about stale! These turnovers were not edible, they were hard as a rock and the apples were dry and shriveled. We went to the bakery to enjoy a fresh pastry with our morning coffee, silly us to think a bakery would have fresh products. Managment needs to take a look a closer look at what leaves their front door. Do better, your customers deserve at least that. read more
