Chris Davenport in the service department went above and beyond in customer service. We broke down with our truck and horse trailer and they accommodated us by getting the truck in right away and fixed right!! Gave us shuttle service to our horse motel and then a rental car at no charge. He was very polite and professional and work was fast so we could get back on the road right away!! We had a car problem two nights ago. So we had to have the car taken in. The car arrived at 10:30 am. We called at 3:00pm to ask how the process was coming along. They had not even started looking at what was wrong. 4 hours and 30 minutes is enough time to at least start checking it out. This happened last time as well. Not only did that happen. When we went up there to get an oil change. We were charged for it. When we had paper work showing that we get free oil changes due to our insurance. It seems like the time they only care to actually do service is when you are right in front of them. read more

I chose one star because there is not an option for zero stars. I have never received such poor service in my entire life. My car broke down and Gene Messer was the only dealer in town who could fix it. I was told it would be a week, then two weeks, then another week and so on. It took a month of getting the run around before my car was finished. We need parts, oh, we need another part. Although the fix didn't change, somehow no one got the right parts, or just lied about things to put off repairing my car - which was under warranty. They took 'paying' customers first and continued to put off fixing my car. There was no sense of urgency to them, although I had to leave my car and continue traveling to start a new job in another state. Then there is still the issue of not being reimbursed for my expenses. Ford Corp was great about helping me out but Gene Messer again dropped the ball. After one week, Ford authorized reimbursement for expenses related to the car breaking down. Here it is, 6 weeks later, and after numerous calls, I still do not have reimbursement. Gene Messer is in charge of writing the checks. So they lied about how long it'd take to fix my, took their sweet time doing it, and now won't send me reimbursements for the expenses. This is the absolute worst experience I have ever had I've been a loyal Ford owner for over 25 years, but this experience alone makes me reconsider my decision read more

DON'T buy a car from these people. Had an agreement on the price of a car with the salesman. When I drove back over, 200 miles round trip, they said they would not honor the agreement on price. When I spoke to the manager he said, "Whatever it is what it is, if you want car you can buy for the original price." Very unprofessional and rude. They will waste your time. Just to let others know that I got my car fixed not long after my fiasco with messer ford. A shade tree mechanic fixed it for less than half of what had been paid out. The only thing that took him time was ordering the part. Didn't need the stuff they put on the car at messer but I paid for it. They are the typical dearlership/service dept. They put parts on until they get the right one, and all the prices are 250% or more at the dealership than anywhere else you go. They can do oil changes and air filters, other than that, save your money and time and go anywhere else than there. I'm convinced more than ever that Hell will be partly made up of car dealerships for eternal torture. (And some of the original managers of them will still be running them) read more

This place isn't great at all. I was working in Amarillo and in a company fleet vehicle. I started having issues with the trunk and it wouldn't close properly. I took the car in on Wednesday June 11th. I called back on Wednesday June 19th, Thursday June 20th and Friday June 21 each day no one knows what is going on. I was told JC handles the fleet vehicles and I left him messages he never called back. Then I called and spoke with someone else and they didn't have any record of the car. I signed paperwork!! Remember I'm not from Amarillo and only in town for two weeks so need the car fixed to go home. I was initially told it would only take a week and now no one knows what's going on. I finally get an answer back and they said they emailed someone but never got answer. I asked did anyone call when they didn't get an answer? The manager said no. I'm like so y'all were just going to let the car sit? Why didn't anyone call me? This place is horrid. JC isn't a good worker and the collision center manager isn't a good worker. If I had to stay around here I would rather drive 100 miles then deal with this place. I advise anyone else to do the same. read more

I bought a battery from them. The battery went bad. I went backto get it warrantied. I spent two hours there after I checked in . My car was never moved. I jump started my car and bought a battery at Autozone. I will never go back to Gene Messer fot anything. read more

Traveling across country (SoCal to North Car) Woke up with right rear tire almost flat. Was just going to put air in at gas station and saw Ford dealer across street. Stopped in they were quick courteous and got us on the road in just over an hour. Had a 3 inch nail in it. Plugged patched and in our way at No Charge!! Great service read more

After making ONE CAR PAYMENT I started having problems with the rear defroster on my Jeep. I took it in for service at 7am. By noon no one had contacted me, I had to contact them, only to find out they still did not know what was wrong with it. About 6:30pm I was finally contacted and told the rear glass would have to be replaced as there was no kit to fix the problem with the rear glass defroster. No problem, I have the premium warranty I'm thinking. Nope, I was told my warranty did not cover glass. I was quoted a price of over $500. After I complained of just purchasing the vehicle it went down to $425. A week and a half later I was notified that they ordered the wrong glass, it was for a soft top, mine is hard. I was also told the price I was quoted was for the wrong part and the correct part would cost $800+. I told him just forget it! I looked over my paperwork and it clearly states "NOTE: Heated back glass coverage is for electrical components only and does not include general glass damage or breakage." Well Armen, the guy I spoke with, told me it was an electrical problem and there is obviously no glass damage. So I called AGAIN on 12/3 and spoke to a supervisor or manager at the service department. He said he would have to call the warranty company. It is now 12/5 and still no response. Who sells warranties but has no idea what they say or cover? It's bad enough they let me drive off the lot in a bad tire that already had 2 patches and could not safely be patched a 3rd time, and the sales guy new this as he wanted to check tire pressure before I drove it. I had to buy a new tire (actually 4) two days after purchasing the vehicle. I will never buy a vehicle here again. I haven't even made the second car payment!!!! read more

4 days I had my F150 in the service department to solve a noise and brake problem. JC tried to help but it seems like it was the Mutt and Jeff show Friday when I went to get my truck back because I had to have it for the Holidays. The service manager was sitting in his office having a friendly conversation and other service advisors were standing around staring at me while I waited just to get my keys. Nobody said we'll get you in next week, or we're sorry but we can make this right the following week, or nothing. And I don't but the "busy thing" - everybody is busy! Clearly nobody is interested and to add insult to injury a lady came in while I am waiting to get my keys and she said she had some recall items on her car that needed to be fixed and the advisor said "sure, we can get that out tomorrow." I have been waiting 4 days and nothing. These guys are unfamiliar with the concept of customer focused service. Disappointing - I hope Ford has a word with them because I will not buy any vehicle where I can't get great, not good, not mediocre, but great service. read more

This is about the worst service department I've ever dealt with in my life. My car broke down on Monday Oct 5th while still under warranty. I had it towed to gene Messer because that is where I purchased it. That day the service advisor Chris Davenport called and told me that it would be a couple days before they knew anything. 2 days later he calls back and says it's the transmission I asked him about a loaner car so I could get back and forth to work. He then said they (due to how strict ford warranty is) wouldn't provide a loaner car till they start the actual work on my car and he would let me know as soon as he knew something else. I called again and again left voice-mail after voice-mail and could never talk to him. After over a week with no response from him I called ford warranty direct. They (ford warranty) told me to have the car moved out of gene Messer and over to tri state ford to get the work started faster because gene Messer is backed up 3 weeks. I was also told as soon as it gets to tri state ford they would provide a rental car. So I tried to do that. I sent a tow truck to go get it from gene Messer the tow company calls and said they couldn't get the car because it was in pieces. This is after I called and talked to JC in service and he said that would be fine for them to get it. So a wasted road side assistance call to the tow company. So after 15 days with no car I get a call out of the blue to say my car is finished. I had somebody go pick it up for me due to the fact I was at work 50 miles away and no way to go get it. My friends bring my car to me and hand me the paperwork showing what work was done. On page 2 of the invoice it says the done a 99 point inspection and all is good except a oil filter leak. And even states the tread on the tires is OK at this time. Last time I had an oil change I was told and shown that the wear was bad on 2 tires all they had to do was look at them to see it. So I guess they BS the whole inspection but marked it as complete. I will never recommend Gene Messer Ford to anyone. And hope this helps someone make a decision on where to take there car for service. read more

Without a doubt the most miserable car buying experience I've ever had, high-pressure tactics, manipulation and dishonesty along with deceptive practices by sales manager was unbelievable. This place is such a joke. I was told my tires were in stock and ready to go when I called he day before and when I left my truck at 7:30 AM. Shuttle driver was a jerk. He never showed up to pick me up and told be dealership I had already picked up my truck. Still haven't picked it up yet. I will never be doing service work at Gene Messser ever again for two reasons: 1) they are unreliable and dumber than nails 2) their radio ads make me want to total my ford and get a GMC. I love my Ford from Gene Messer. The sales dept. is great! The service dept is amusing! You need a lot of time and a high tolerance for rudeness to get service. It's been this way for 15 years. We talked before buying a Ford from them that we'd have to deal with their lousy service department. We really wanted the Ford. It really is amusing to visit their service department. A new low in service! As you drive your car into the service area and wait! I worry they only have one employee or I've driven to the wrong area. Nope, you wait long enough, by yourself, with no eye contact from anyone...someone might finally ask if they can help you. Sometimes I walk around looking for someone that looks like they work there. They are very friendly once someone offers to help you. A simple wave, eye contact, we'll help you in a minute from the one guy there would go a long way towards my wait to check in my car. So grateful to finally have someone take my keys and phone number! Shew, step one down! He didn't tell me his name...BIG MISTAKE! You should get their name in the 2 mins. you talk to them and sign all the papers! Very important! Just try to pay or call or get information on your car without the service technican's first name! Very tricky! To get information you must provide the service technican's name. When hubby called for information on the car and didn't know the name of the service technican they hung up on him. Well, they put him on hold and then cut him off. I went to pay but didn't know the name of the service technican. Gee, I was just so grateful that someone talked to me that morning and took my keys finally that I didn't introduce myself and get his name. I'm sorry!!!! The cashier scolded me and asked me again for my service technican's name. I was too busy admiring her professional appearance and getting scolded that even if I'd ever known my technican's name I was too distracted to tell her. Great tattoes and gee, did the nose ring hurt? So not knowing my technican's name I was sent to another area. I waited again for 20 minutes as the 2 technican's that were in there had their backs to me and were typing diligently on their computers. Gee, do I interrupt or wait. I waited a nice time and finally someone came from outside and asked to help me. I needed my car I told him. He asked me my name. YES!! I know this! I told him and then...yes, he asked me my technican's name! I know my name, my type of car and what was fixed on it, but Yikes, still didn't know the name of the technican! Finally they yell and find my technican! He's a nice man and I STILL don't know his name. My car was ready except for the paper work. I waited another 20 mins as he typed in his computer and then...oh my gosh...he printed! It was so exciting. I paid and got to admire the professional appearance of the cashier again. A treat for the eyes, let me tell you! She was much nicer to me this time as I had my technican with me!!! I still didn't know his name, but hey, he was there in person! She took my money and told me to have a nice day! Such a sweetie! I think she felt a little guilty for the scolding she gave me earlier! Got my car, it has a nice new battery and it works great! Good Job! But, I'm pretty sure I'm not the least bit interested in the first name of the service technican's name that was assigned to my car. Thank you to him for FINALLY waiting on me, I did need to get to work and move on with my life this morning. Maybe a big sticker with your name that you slapped on my forehead as I handed over the keys. I still wouldn't waste the time to read it, but you all could see it then. I will say that for 15 years this service is consistent! Okay, the last time the cashier didn't have the great professional appearance that this one did. But, get the name of your service technican or you will be really sorry! They won't talk to you unless you know the name of the service technican that you see once a year. This is important at Gene Messer Ford in Amarillo. Don't say I didn't warn you! They will fix your car either way, but life is easier if you get the name of the technican! I'm sorry to report that next visit I probably won't get the name of the technican again and probably won't waste a single brain cell to remember the name that day either. Yes, I spoke with master Iberra, he had nothing new to say. Even though I took my truck in to be fixed, not necessarily rewired, he charged me $900.00 for rewiring which resulted in my truck not running at all. Is this what most people would call a satisfactory outcome? I think not. He wouldn't even apply the $900.00 toward actually fixing the problem. I don't know where they find the few lackies who write good reviews. They are quick to bury the vast majority of poor comments under sub heading "not recommended reviews"! Better check them all out before deciding to use this corrupt service facility. You'd be better off at Walmart. At least they'll be more reasonable. The vast majority of customer reviews for this outfit are bad to worse. Don't know how they stay in business. Ford Motor co. should step in and take away their franchise. They are ruining the good name Ford tries to maintain. Mr. Messer, do you know how rude your service manager is?? If so, shame on you!! read more

I was sold a vehicle that had not been properly inspected by their service department. I left Amarillo in it and about 200 miles out of town the Transmission Temp Gauge light came on. The mechanic that checked the fluid stated that this had not been changed or serviced in a long time...it was black. He immediately said that whoever I bought this from had let us down or screwed me. I ended up needing a new transmission. The worst part is that Gene Messer would not stand behind their product. They offered to pay for the initial services to the vehicle totaling $600 dollars, but they would not help with the new transmission which set me back a lot of money. I bought a vehicle from them taking their word that the vehicle had been checked and there were no problems. So, DO NOT TRUST the service manager, the GM, and Gonzolo. Trevor White was the salesman I dealt with and he was nice enough. Thank you for nothing Gene Messer. I sold the piece of crap you sold me. Congratulations on living up to every stereotype there is for car dealers in America. Take a bow! read more
