I brought in my car for multiple repairs and was expecting to get a Loaner vehicle since my repairs would take an extended time. This was what was advertised on the Hyundai website (where I set my appointment. When I arrived: not only was the Loaner program discontinued, but the rental options were all taken and I couldn't get on a wait list once one was returned. They offered a free uber service, and I accepted as that was my only option. The uber service only worked once, and they had my car for a week and a half. The second time I tried to schedule a ride, I texted them several times and left two voicemails after being on hold for 10+ minutes, and after waiting hours for a response I finally just gave up, let them know about my frustration, and ordered one myself. So you really rely on transportation on their part. They did communicate clearly about the issues and diagnosis for my car, so I do want to give credit there. When I picked up my car I decided to not revisit the uber issues I had, I was just ready to have my car back and decided to take the L. But then I get a call today (4 days after I got my car back) from some lady at Hyundai and she wants to know about my experience. I let her know honestly that everyone communicated clearly and everything with my car was fine, but I was disappointed in the uber service and lack of options. She then immediately got annoyed with me and said I could've used the shuttle - I never was told of the shuttle just the uber service. She then started to argue with me over how I didn't communicate and "if I talked to her, there wouldn't be a problem". Ma'am, I don't even know who you are? You asked me how my experience was and I was being honest? I tried to just explain that this is what I experienced and she basically called me a liar when I told her I called multiple times. At this point, I hung up. Why would you call me just to argue? Whoever they have making these calls needs to have a real attitude check, I'll never work with this Hyundai dealership again. read more

I went here on January 19, 2026 to get my recall fixed for anti-theft I was sitting there for two hours and a half two customers came in after me which I had already been there an hour. Alyssa Spain was the representative. customer service was poor no communication. The two clients that were last to come in went out before me. It could have taken 15 minutes for her to tell me that my product was not in stock She made me wait two hours and a half. I've waited a very long time to leave a review for this place. I've had my Hyundai accent serviced here for the last 2 years and I can say with sincere confidence that the owner of this business couldn't care less about their customers. They know they have no competition since there are no other Hyundai dealerships in Lubbock and they treat you accordingly. I don't even know where to start. If you haven't read their other reviews, trust them, because this place is shady. They have money to renovate their establishment, but apparently not enough to make prices reasonable for their customers, or to hire more staff in order to make their maintenance time reasonable. The amount of times I have had to wait over 24 hours for my vehicle to get serviced is ridiculous. The service department is very difficult to reach and practically ignores you unless you walk into the business in person, yet if you call the sales department, they'll answer right away. They overcharge on services and they know it. Why do I know this? Because the last time they tried to overcharge me for spark plug replacement and brake pad changes, I decided to go somewhere else (which was cheaper) and they decided to try to rope me back in with a "better price." This tells me that they must think I'm stupid and would be willing to pay overpriced services. If they thought it was reasonable in the first place, they wouldn't try to lower the price after I told them I'd look elsewhere for service. So many other reviews state how the dealership will sell you messed up cars and won't help you within your warranty window (if they even offer one). If you don't like being ripped off, or ignored, then I recommend you look elsewhere. I'll never buy a Hyundai in this city again. read more

Bought a car the first of February it was messed up by the first of March then when I take it back up there they wanna tell me that the mot kit they put on it made the engine fail and that they will replace it for free because it was there fault then call me back 2 days later to tell me it was going to almost cost me $8,000 out of pocket which remind you is what I am paying for the car. Had an appointment at 8am and they said it would take 1 hour- 1 1/2. When i originally called I double checked it would be done latest by 2 and they said yes. Called at 12:40 and they said they didn't even start til 12 and that it would be another hour on top of that. Then I called again at 2:30 and was told they were finishing things up and doing some paperwork. I wasn't able to get my car until almost 4. I wasn't going to leave a review until the guy who drove up my car gave me an attitude because he couldn't comprehend a simple question. When I gave the first guy my keys at 8am I asked if he could leave me windows open, or at least the back ones, since I just shampooed my seats and they are still wet and didn't want it to grow mold. He assured me they would. Jump forward to about 3:55pm and this other guy brings my car back to me I see all the windows are shut but the drivers side. I asked if he knew whether or not the windows had been up the whole time. He started explaining he just rolled the front ones down because it was hot. I was trying to explain that I wanted them down, and if he knew whether they had complied to something they said they would do, he came off with an attitude about the whole situation. I needed to leave out of town earlier today and the only reason I set the appointment was because I was assured that it would be done in time. Made an appointment for 430pm to have diagnostic on AC. I realized that they wouldn't be able to get it done that day as they closed at 5pm. However when I called after noon the following the day it still hasn't even been taken back for diagnostic. Was told it should be about another 30m. At 3pm I still had received zero communication so I went to pick it up. We have had multiple service items done for this car at this location. Last time was a nearly 3hr oil change. As per usual the girl that works the counter was her normal self, which is her giving the absolute bare amount of customer service and accepting like you're really infringing on her time. If the service department doesn't have time to work on cars don't let people make appointments or at least communicate with your customers. We honestly had about another $2.2K in work that I was planning on approving today besides the three AC. However after this latest trip to Gene Messer Hyundai I will not be returning to the service department or buying a vehicle from them. I'm not going to purchase a vehicle that you don't have time to service. I'm working this as I sit at another dealership that I just stopped by at who said of course they could do a quick diagnostic but depending on the problem they probably can't fix it today unless it just needs a coolant charge. See Gene Messer that's all you have to do; diagnose in a timely manner then set a different time for service if you can't complete. Would give this place a 0/5. Both times I've taken my car in they have damaged it. I needed a new tire put on my car. They scratched the rim and told me they'd get in touch with me to repair. Never did even after leaving a voicemail to the service manager. Second time my gas flap wouldn't open. They used a plastic pry bar that dented the area around it terribly and when I was told I was being transferred to the service manager, he sent me to voicemail and I never got a response AGAIN. They take no accountability and are extremely unethical. And this is my BRAND NEW car and they've managed to put all the damage it has on it. My sister, who has a type of alzheimer, was needing a new car. We went in, found one she liked, and proceded with financing. We told the sales man what her payments need to be and that we didn't want any after market warranties. She is not able to make cognitive decisions and when she went in to sign paper work, they had added a warranty, $4000, so her payment was more than she could afford. When I went back the next day they told me there was nothing they could do that he had already submitted the paper work. There was no communication between the sales staff and the finance manager. Just to let you know how much I dislike the customer service we have received with this service department, the free oil change you sent in the mail is going in trash. Same reason as stated by other reviews. Live 80 miles out of town, and making an appointment is useless. Does nothing for you as I was informed by men taking vehicles in. Was told it was very busy, and it would probably be 3 hours till they could get it in. I explained that I had an appointment. He said all that did was let the cousterm know they were excepting cars. Some of the cars ahead were left for pickup at the end of the day. It didn't matter. My place in line was set when I got there. It didn't matter that unless I wanted to drive two vehicles, my wife and I would just have to set there. What's funny? I was running a little late, and I called to let them know. I have never had a problem with the service department and have always loved taking my car here until today. The lady working in the service department was very rude. Walked into the office and she was talking on her personal phone. When I was asked what was wrong with my car and told her it was an issue with my blind spot cameras and collision sensors she asked if I was in an accident when I told her yes I had been last October she in a very rude tone asked if they have been on the whole time. I had gotten my car fixed by the gene messer collision repair is Lubbock and it was fixed in December. I work in customer service and I realize that it is not easy and everyone may not be having a great day but when I called to get an update on my car after it had been there for two hours she was again very rude. I had a major problem with one of my cars that I had purchased there. When the warranty company didn't want to cover the repairs, General Manager Brendan Cimino got it handled for me. He was professional and easy to work with. Then I had the same problem occur a couple months later. The part is backordered and it could be several months to get the part. When I mentioned I waved to trade it, again, General Manager Brendan offered me a great trade in and I was able to get myself into a new vehicle with little effort. This has been the best experience I have had at any car dealership when I encountered problems. I would give them a 10 star rating if I could. I would say somewhere between 1-2 stars is fitting. I've been coming here for more than a year so I can say this isn't just an isolated incident. 2021 and part of 2022 they were good. Nothing but great times with their servicing. But, after summer of 2022 they went way downhill. I'm a car enthusiast, so I know a thing or two about cars, I just don't have the time since I am a student to do maintenance to my car by myself. Here's a list of things they have done wrong in the past 6 months to my car or me: -incorrectly installed a crush washer and made my car leak oil all over my driveway -said I had a turbo oil leak, and that my turbo may be going out and it was pretty bad. I looked and the turbo was bone dry. (They estimated upwards of $2k!!) I asked for proof and the lady at the desk seemed hesitant, and said she would email me videos of the "evidence of the turbo leak." I never got that video. -charged me for a tire rotation, which I requested, and didn't rotate the tires. The only reason I knew was because one of the wheels clear coat is peeling, and it was in the same place it was when I dropped it off. -installed new rotors for me, and forgot to put lubricant where it needs to go, so now every other day when I'm coming to a shop I hear a loud metallic sound from the brakes (pads are brand new as well and we're last touched by them as well). They did, however, fix my calipers that were seized, so I have to give them credit where credit is due. They got that done in a timely manner and I appreciated it greatly. Again, they used to be really on it with servicing, but they just haven't been FOR THE MOST PART recently. Overall, it's really hit or miss, but definitely could be better because I've seen it better. read more

I went on looking to test drive a new vehicle I had been looking online at, the "salesman" did not SELL me anything. I asked to see a specific trim and was told they don't come in that style, then I showed him the car inline that it is INFACT offered, he still shrugged and moved on. Our interaction consisted of opening a vehicle door for me to look at and I had to ASK each time what this trim was. I had to ask about what is included and the difference between the trims. I had to ask 3 times to test drive one. I was given the HIGHEST trim to test drive knowing I had already explained the budget I was looking for (which was not the highest) I was not informed of any of the functions of the vehicle I had to ask. He did not have knowledge about this vehicle at all, and better yet he was spitting on the ground the whole time I am not impressed and will probably be going to a different dealership to find a Hyundai I want and have someone actually interact with my family and make us feel like we're wanted there for business. I understand he may have sensed we may not come to a deal today but in the near future...I'm buying a car....i can compromise somewhere but did not feel welcome and like they deserved my business. I compared my severe toothache pain to buying a vehicle and told him I had a poor attitude after my recent communications with a few other Hyundai dealerships. When I say I received exceptional treatment, from the entirety of the staff during my purchase, it would be an understatement. Every single person in the sales office was attentive and pleasant. I was able to do all preliminary paperwork before arriving. I went in to the purchase contract with no hidden fees, no questions about line items, an acceptable price, and great interest rate. After getting the engine replaced in my car, there were about 20 things broken that I discovered (blinkers, AC, can't open the trunk, seat belt sensor, etc). Dealership says they didn't cause it. My mechanic looked at it and found that my splash guard wasn't replaced, no coolant in the car, missing bolts on the transmission, and a missing support bracket for the intake manifold. Opened a case with corporate, but almost 3 weeks later and my case manager still hasn't called me. My car has been sitting at a dealership (corporate told me to leave it there) for over 2 weeks and I've had to pay for a rental car while nothing has been done to repair my car!! I've been so patient up to this point, but that's over when I can see that they don't appreciate their customers. I asked to see the manager who said today's appointment is only to get in line, there is a backlog of 17 cars ahead of me, no loaner vehicle, no promise of when the parts would be available if they are needed. WARNING - DONT TRUST SERVICE DEPARTMENT My son is a student at Texas Tech, his 2021 Kona tires were low 27 and I told him to take it to the dealer to put nitrogen in the tires. The service department said he really needs to rotate & balance $49, and front end alignment $69. I told him it was ok to let them do the work. My son set in the waiting room for 2 1/2 hours and he asked about his suv and the said I'm sorry we finished some time ago but neglected to tell him. He asked if they used nitrogen in the tires and was told no, we probably just topped it off with compressor. When he got read to pay they said total was $180, my son said that is not what they told him and they said I'm sorry, the total is $141. When he drove off the lot he called to let me know what happened. I asked him to check air pressure and it said tires were 28 lbs. Went in to get free air, paid $141 for extra service, tried to over charge him $40 and didn't even put air in the tires (what we went to dealer for). Now I wonder how good is tire rotation/balance and the alignment when they didn't properly inflate tires. Wished I would have told him to go somewhere else! Called for Service Manager but he was too busy to speak with me. read more

We have mixed reviews here. The sales guy was great. Sales guy did a credible job, no pressure, a positive experience. We got the price we wanted and a good trade in value. The financing part was the opposite. Jacked up rates, pressure to get us to buy extended warranties and the like. They tried to blame Wells Fargo for the above market interest rate but I think it was their own attempt to gouge an exhausted customer (who has a credit score in the +800 range, btw). Shame on them. We finally got the rate down but we had to horse trade on the extended warranties that we didn't want in the first place! Be sure you have good financing elsewhere before you go into that den of thieves so you have leverage on a good financing package. Just found out they shopped our loan to all three major credit agencies after we specifically explained we maintained credit freezes at all of them. We had asked which agency should we get our freeze lifted so they could run our credit but apparently they didn't listen or didn't care and hit them all. Pretty shoddy and totally lacking in respect towards the customer. This was not a big loan by any means and they have been pretty ham handed in how they manage these things. I took my car in for a recall to be done. Driving 100 miles out of town to get repairs. Also stated that Infotainment system was faulty. Goes to a black screen for 10-20 mins at a time. And stated the heated seat on driver side of vehicle stopped working over the winter. When I finally went to pick up my car Victoria Marie was my service advisor. She stated that they had not been able to do the recall due to not having parts in stock. Keep in mind it's a recall!!!! They should have this stuff regularly available especially after having an appointment set up for over a week. Finally when I talked to Victoria she had stated they could keep my car and they wouldn't know when it would be done said it could be 4 months and bragged on about having 20 cars in the shop for "engine replacement" and said " that's Hyundai for you" I thought having a brand new 2021 vehicle with a full service contract and full bumper to bumper warranty would cover anything but I guess that's Hyundai for you! read more

He then proceeded to let me test drive all the ones I wanted to and even offered me and my plus one waters. (Even asked if I wanted cold or room temperature) I came back a couple more times and he let me test drive numerous times without complaint and gave simply the best dealership experience I've ever had. Lastly was able to be flexible with the price and worked with me and the budget I had. Overall a wholesome guy who doesn't just want to screw you over and make a profit and cares about what he sells. I wish 0 stars was an option. I brought my car in with a key to be programmed after my original key was stolen. I was told I would have the car back the same day. I was then told later that the key I brought in was from a 3rd party and not programmable which was not true. It has a matching part number and matching FCC number from a dealer. I had to order a new one which took 4 more days. Once the key arrived I was told there were additional issues that needed to be diagnosed and that my first key actually would work. (What a waste of time) To me it sounds like they didn't even try the first key and just tried to sell me a new one for $220 more than the one I brought in. I was then told that the car would be fixed within the next day or two. Not the case. When I called asking for an update I was left on hold for 30 minutes not once, not twice, but THREE times to get an update and never heard back. I'm in the process of moving and I have explained that I am in desperate need of transportation and that seems like it couldnt matter less to them. I have never felt so ignored and screwed over in my life. I still do not have the car further updates to come, I would recommend anywhere but here when facing car problems. If you do happen to be so unlucky to take your vehicle here watch out because if Victoria answers the phone do not expect another conversation after being put on hold. I am having the same problem as many other reviewers. I have loved my Hyundai Genesis G 80 for the past 2 years but on Dec. 9th the steering wheel suddenly would not turn and I had it towed to Gene Messer Hyundai as I thought they would know the most about repairing this car. Unfortunately they have kept my car for nearly 2 1/2 months- first saying they did not know where to start. After several weeks and after they were contacted by my concerned adult children with no answers, I contacted the Corporate Office and was assigned a case number and an investigator. He tells me the same thing every week. They are working with "TechLine" engineers to try to figure out what is wrong. But 73 days is ridiculous. I have left messages for the Service Manager and the General Manager and I never get a call back . I have begged for a loaner car after all this time and was told they only give loaners to customers who buy their car from them. I did not - so have had to rely on friends and family ( I am a widow) to help me get groceries and go to doctors appointments . I recently resorted to renting a car for a short trip out of town and it cost me $250 for 3 days. I will never buy another Hyundai and everyone should be warned about the terrible customer service of this dealership. read more

This is a review for the service department. I bought a 2015 Hyundai used from an alternate dealer because of legendary warranty. There were a few things wrong with the car, but figured I could get them fixed. I took my car here and they repaired one of the 3 things that day, but needed to order parts for the other 2. Ok, fine. I come back in when parts arrive and after leaving they call me to say they ordered the wrong part. I was furious that I would have to bring my car a third time to fix it. They called me later to say they found the part tucked away and that it would be fixed on schedule and I would receive an oil change for free. When I arrived my car was even washed! Look, they didn't execute perfectly, but sometimes things happen. When they made a mistake they went above and beyond to right the wrong. Pros: 1) offered services to compensate for mistake 2) double checked the warehouse to deliver promised services even after I had accepted that I would have to come again 3) performed correct services repairing all problems Cons: 1) organization needs work 2) reservation system for appointments seems like it means nothing 3) better inventory control and communication needed read more
