Painful process. The car I was interested in still needed some work but they allowed me to come in and test drive and were very pushy that I should buy the car. When I asked if I could put down a payment to reserve the car with the hopes they would fix it that week I was told they would just sell it to someone else. Ended up taking 5 days to get the car back during repairs. Was never offered a rental car or any alternative local mechanics. Asked my sales person if there was anything they could do and was told to talk to the mechanic and that the boss would call me. Never got a call. Had to drive 2 hours with a friend to pick the car up since I'm not local which was frustrating. Overall not a great buying experience would not recommend buying anything here that's not fully ready to drive off the lot. That being said they did do the repairs and the car seems to be running well. Will come and update this review in 8 months or so with how the car is doing. read more

I came to Gene Pankey Motors with trust in their reputation--especially because my boyfriend's family had bought from them for years. We worked with Craig and purchased a Tesla after being told the squeaking we heard was "normal." After some concern, we brought the car to a shop (on Gene Pankey's dime), where all they did was grease the joints. The mechanic told us the control arms were bad and the tires were in terrible condition, adding that this vehicle never should've been sold to us in that state. Gene Pankey Motors has a mechanic on-site--so why weren't these critical issues caught before the sale? When we expressed concern, they offered a "like-for-like" replacement, but the offer left us $7,000 in the hole, despite just buying the car. That's not an exchange--it's a loss. Additionally, we signed paperwork for replacement parts for the trunk, but we've received no updates, no tracking, and no communication. We're now stuck with a car that needs major repairs, without any accountability from the dealer. I regret trusting them and encourage other buyers to be extremely cautious. I take some responsibility for not doing deeper research, but I also believe Gene Pankey Motors failed in both transparency and integrity. I bought one car here. Nice salesman. It took a ridiculously long time finalizing paperwork on an all cash purchase even though they knew I was coming and didn't want to waste hours. While there, my wife wanted to check out Mercedes suv, an 80k car. We were in the market and wanted to check it out. No keys. The owner had the keys because he uses the lot as his personal cars. He wasn't there so we were out of luck. This week I see 2 Mercedes AMGs on their lot. I go out of my way to stop by to look at them. As I walk the lotI don't see them. I ask a salesman about the AMGs. His response, oh, the owner is driving it. Again, the owner driving around a high end Mercedes to look like a big shot. We've purchased 2 vehicles from Gene Pankey Motors and have been very satisfied with their service. Our last vehicle was a pickup truck purchased with the help of Craig, a true professional. No pressure and very helpful. Upon wanting to take a test drive, it was found that the truck had a faulty battery. Craig apologized and asked if we could come back in a few hours and it would be fixed. That left us time to look at trucks from other lots. When we returned, the truck had a new battery and we did a test drive, loved it and made the purchase. Multiple months later the battery failed under warranty. I couldn't find the battery paperwork and called Craig for a copy. He got back to me the same day and stated he couldn't find it either. He then told me to go to their associated repair shop several blocks away and he would pay for a new replacement battery! Now THAT is customer service and why we've purchased two vehicles from them. It'll be time to buy another vehicle soon and you can bet we'll return to Gene Pankey Motors and the great service that Craig offers! Poor sales staff here, John D's response to an offer at a value within Kelly Blue Books value for a vehicle was "I don't believe this is the vehicle for you"....excuse me but a sales person should then explain the value of the vehicle and doing business with this organization, offer their best price and ex plain why they are asking that price. This salesman just lost this dealership a car deal with a short tempered response and I will ensure I leave this review on every possible outlet and express to all people I have interactions with that doing business here is not worth a single second. Best line I learned in sales myself, "never get mad at your money and always express value in the ask". We bought a truck from Gene Pankey in 2013 and were very pleased with the experience. Craig Wilson dealt straight with us, and we even observed other customers interacting with the business in a very positive way. Fast forward to 2019, the truck we bought was unfortunately totaled. We looked at other dealerships and were appalled by the reviews (disconnecting the "check engine" light - really?). We saw a truck on Pankey's website that looked interesting, so we went to check it out. We were happy that Craig was still there, which was a good sign!. He steered us away from that particular truck, and over to one they had just gotten in the day before. It hadn't even been cleaned up yet, but we were impressed. We ended up calling him while on the test drive to say we were going home to get our checkbook. At the price they were asking, we knew this truck would not be there if we came back later. They did all the minor necessary work on it and it was almost pristine when we picked it up! We cannot recommend Gene Pankey Motors highly enough.
