I really regret hiring him to unblock my drain line. His price was 2-3x what it should have been, and I ended up having to call another plumber to fix the issue. Roberto behaved extremely unethically. He charged $1600 for hydro-jetting, which only cost me $400 some years ago. With inflation, perhaps $600 is fair. But he came with one other person and they spent a total of 3 hours at my house. $1600 is excessive for the amount of work he did. If he'd fixed the problem, though, I would have left it there. But the story gets worse. Roberto also tried to convince me that I needed my drainage pipes abraded, at a cost of $2,200. Honestly I didn't find Roberto very trustworthy, so I refused. A few days after Roberto left, water started shooting out of my washing machine stand pipe, about 2 feet from where Roberto had been working. It was far, far worse than stoppage I had before Roberto came to my house. I called another plumber. That plumber found wads of lint and something that looked like cardboard had been jammed down my washer's standpipe to cause it to be blocked up. Was my pipe intentionally blocked to make it seem like I needed the pipe abrasion Roberto wanted to charge me $2,200 for? Also, the other plumber camera'ed my lines and confirmed the work Roberto suggested was totally unnecessary. I'm not sure that Roberto is actually a licensed plumber. I will complain to the CSLB if he continues to harass me, and will take him to small claims court to recover the money I had to spend to fix the issues he caused. It's 11pm on a Thursday. Your 20 guests have gone home, the kids are asleep, and you're ready to put your feet up, when you suddenly notice that your kitchen sink has water in it that seems to have Risen From The Deep. Our double sink kitchen drain with garbage disposal backed up on a Monday afternoon. I called two other companies I previously used. The first company referred me to another company because they were booked solid. The second company indicated the earliest they could come was Thursday. I checked Yelp again and decided to call Oakland Drain Cleaning after reading the reviews; I was keen about checking more recent reviews. At this stage it was 4:30pm so I knew I needed to call sooner than later if I wanted any chance of getting an appointment for Tuesday since many plumbers close shop by 5pm. I called and Roberto answered! After explaining our situation Roberto indicated he was on a job but could likely come by the next day (Tuesday). I received a text at 4:47pm confirming an appointment for 8:30am Tuesday. Tuesday morning at 8:02am I received a text indicating Roberto was en route. Roberto arrived at 8:20 being sure to put on shoe covers before entering my residence. The drain was cleared by 8:35 including drain flowing freely and Roberto double checking to insure there were no leaks. Roberto was courteous and efficient. As nearly all the other customer reviews have written, Roberto doesn't charge to come out and make an estimate, responds very quickly and in person, is very experienced, is very skilled, has the latest equipment, maintains excellent communication, and is very personable. He has a small responsive and reliable company, not like the big ones. Our house was built in 1912, the drain pipe is very old, and my 25' snake didn't solve a kitchen sink backup issue. Roberto came out, diagnosed the problem, explained in detail what needed to be done, submitted a bid for this major work and we accepted. He and his team went to work the next day finished the same day - a job that required extensive digging of soil. Add'l work was recommended and he descaled and hydrojetted the main line promptly.
