Poor service from Luis Alanis Showroom Sales. Luis may need to work on leaving his baggage at home or at least know when to give himself time off to get his attitude right for customers. Displayed very poor attitude towards me when I was just trying to get the right product needed. This was not necessary and will make me hesitate in ever going back. Showroom was pretty cool with lots of variety and choices. Once my product was ordered Luis said he would reach out to let me know it was there. That never happened. I ended up having to follow up with my order after the expected time frame passed. I only say this to management/ownership. This high degree of showroom variety only does any good if you have the right people in place for the customer. It may be time to reevaluate Luis's role at your shop to maximize your investment and ensure he is in the best suited role. We're talking basic customer service, without the nasty, unnecessary attitude and letting the customer know when there product has arrived as promised. We're expecting the basics at the very least. I purchased some pex pipe and some fittings from this place. The rings were all bored out so when the pipe was expanded the rings would just slide down the pipe. Normally there is a stop at the end of the ring. The stops on the product I received appeared to be drilled out by someone. The pex pipe I received from this place has been causing extremely bad taste out of the sink I installed it on. Its been 6 months of daily use and the taste is still there. Its an intense taste of PEX pipe. All the other sinks in the house were installed with the same brand PEX from Pace and there is no leaching at all. The water from these sinks tastes perfect. I'm not sure what is going on and why the same brand uponor pex purchased from General Plumbing is leaching so bad. If it is still there three months from now I am going to re-pex it with product from Pace. I've also found General Plumbing to be more of a union worker sort of place. Definitely not a DIYer place. They take advantage of DIYers and will sell you expensive product that you do not need. They seem to really dislike the DIY type, so they bluntly don't give a crap. I sometimes think they purposefully sold me defective pex products to get them off their shelves. read more

Worst ever. So much for supporting local businesses, off to Home Depot I go. I thought I'd give them a Second chance since the first time I tried to purchase a an adapter for a toilet valve, the bald guy said I had to purchase this specific valve he had and needed to buy his tool to remove it off the old valve but there was no guarantee it would work and if it didn't I could return the opened valve or tool. This moron thought I was born last night. I had previously replaced a valve (from H.D) in my other bathroom, but came here to again, support local business plus I didn't want to drive all the way to Vallejo. Talk about selling you BS. So this time I thought I'd go in again looking for a pvc female adapter. Bald guy again, anything else? I said nope. Well there's a $10 cash minimum on sales and you're at .46. Went to the showroom to see what I might like. As you enter the showroom, the whole room smells so strong like men's cologne or perfume and it lingers in your clothing! I tried not to breathe with the mask on. Luis was the sales rep for the day. He answered questions but lack customer service skills. Not that friendly. I left and he gave his calling card to me. The next day, I called and asked for a specific faucet that I need. He asked for the model number and I said I have the name but not model number. I know he can search it by name (I guess lazyness strikes!). So I searched and gave the model number. Then I ask something about the item, he sounded pissed and said- "I dont know, whatever model you gave me is that one!" Wow.. Then I just said, ok, bye. My guess was he'd been working there for a long time? That's why he can talk just like that! But still, it shouldn't be that way! That's why I'd rather drive 45mins to Brentwood or even Walnut Creek, if I will be treated right! Which I have proven, that those branches are way better than the American Canyon one. I do flooring. Was recommended this place from an Ace hardware person as they didn't have my part. I go in tell the guy I know nothing about plumbing. Show him the bathroom sink valves I have and need. He says "what brand?" I say I haven't a clue I just bought the house. I figure with all his knowledge, as he said it is probably one of these two types of water faucets. But I as a flooring guy need to know. This is the biggest POS company I've ever done business with. Bought a AO Smith commercial hot water heater for my wife's house. After 3 1/2 years the burner went out. I called the manufacturer which was great. They knew everything about the heater. When it was built to who sold it. They said to bring it back to General plumbing and a warranty check would be sent to them and they would refund me. After 4 weeks I called. They then asked for a receipt that they had already seen. I couldn't find it. They probably kept it. So the refund sent to them by the manufacturer was pocketed. Now the heater went out. Still under warranty. There's no way I'm letting them keep that money too. So I went to Home Depot and bought one with the same warranty for half the price. I bought this same one for my house 10 years ago and I've had no problems with it. Save your money and BS warranty. I'm not a Home Depot fan. But General Plumbing is crap. I'm in the wine industry and service most wineries in the Sonoma and Napa valleys. After being screwed this bad I'll be sure to pass on the poor service they have. read more

In the course of an hour she helped us pick out everything we needed. She included all the items that were needed for the install, beyond the obvious fixtures. Very thorough and knowledgeable. I needed a flapper for an old toilet. It's a rare item and though they didn't have one in the store the lady said the owner had one at his house and I was welcome to pick it up! Think twice before working with General Plumbing Supply in American Canyon. I had the unfortunate experience to work with Lou Sr. who was not at all knowledgeable about the products he sells in his own showroom. My small job of converting my fiberglass bathtub to a shower became a huge nightmare and I blame Lou for 95% of the problems encountered. I thought my request to Lou of purchasing a stationary shower head as well as a hand held shower wand would be a pretty easy one to fulfill but boy was I wrong. He sold me the shower head, wand and something Moen calls "Exactemp." He said each was necessary for the fixtures I had selected after looking through the Moen product Directory. My plumber installed what he was told he needed to for the completion of the job, my contractor tiled my walls and when installation day came for my fixtures to be put in place, we discovered we couldn't install the wand. Lou assured me this problem would be fixed and after waiting 4 LONG weeks, he brought the new fixtures to me. When my contractor tried to install the new ones, again I had the wrong ones. It only took another 2 weeks to get the correct parts, but I was told I would have to lose my hand held wand because of the Exactemp fixture. When I confronted Lou about how unhappy I was with this and his service overall, he said I was getting him "all fired up." I blew a fuse after he said this because all of my problems were caused by him, he moved at a snails pace to fix them and I ended up with a shower that was not my ideal. And he had the nerve to say I'm getting him all fired up? I have repeatedly asked him for instructions for "exactemp," haven't received anything except the promise from Lou that the Moen rep would be in contact with me and since it has been over a month since he said this, I'm not counting on this happening anytime soon. Terrible customer service and lack of product knowledge should be enough to keep you from working with General Plumbing Supplies, American Canyon. You'll be sorry if you do. read more

I needed a toilet, a faucet, and a valve for my water line and Erik walked a mile around that whole property leaving no stone un-turned looking for different options while Louis put his work on hold to search the catalogs and computers for other options. They both had a great attitude because they didn't show a hint of frustration for me taking so much of their time and energy. I doubt Louis ever even gets angry because he's so mellow. I wanted to write this review a month earlier because Lou Jr. and Lou Sr. were nice and patient enough to let me in at 1 minute til 5:00 to help me. Instead of rushing me or being frustrated, they were talking about news events with me like friends would and wouldn't accept my offer to give them dinner money for causing them stay after closing. Called General Plumbing Monday morning and explained my situation. I had a stem extension that had broken on my hot water shower handle and I pulled the knob which had markings for a manufacturer who makes parts for several companies. The person on the phone said to bring in what I had and they had some catalogs to look through to see if they could ID the part. So I hop in my car and drive from Benicia to American Canyon parts in hand (including an unbroken extender from the cold water side) hoping I could get some help. However I walked in the door and one of the guys at the front counter takes a look at my bag if parts and abruptly tells me he can't help me if I don't have the brand and part numbers. I told him I had just called and explained my situation and drove in all the way from Benicia on the advice that they could at least try and help me and he just repeats himself. I asked if he was familiar with the manufacturer and he just says 'nope'! At this point I'm annoyed and just tell him that I wouldn't have made the trip if the person on the phone had just told me they wouldn't be able to help. What a waste if 45 minutes! Oh by the way I stopped by another plumbing store in Concord who really tried to help me and guess what??? Found it, ordered it, installed it today and it fits like a glove! Very disappointing experience with this company. Unfortunately I don't think they have an experience stuff. Helen didn't place our complete order with Jacuzzi and then pretty much called me a liar and stated either myself or my husband must have cancelled the skirt that she failed to order. Helen had never spoke to my husband until he picked up our incomplete order. Then when the skirt finally did come in she advised we could pick up on a Saturday between 9 and 12. Unfortunately they were closed. Maybe someone can let Helen know what the hours of operation are for future. If your looking for a Jacuzzi dealer, I would look for another dealer. read more
