When I arrived and began working with my stylist, whose name I'll keep private because I have no desire to get anyone in trouble or see anyone reprimanded, I explained that my wedding is this coming October. After narrowing my options down to two dresses, I was very clear that I would only choose the dress I ultimately purchased if the alterations I envisioned could actually be executed. Those alterations were a major factor in my confidence and comfort with the dress, and I was reassured in a way that left me under the impression that Brilliant Bridal either handled the alterations or had a clear process for ensuring they could be done. Unfortunately, it wasn't until after the manager had secured my payment that I was given a paper recommending places I would need to contact myself to determine whether they could bring my vision to life. I also wasn't made aware of the no-return policy during the purchasing process. I only discovered it afterward when I checked my email and saw the policy at the bottom of my receipt. What has made this experience even more stressful is speaking with a seamstress afterward. She explained that the alteration might be fairly easy as long as it doesn't shift the cups too far toward the center, and that another possibility could be covering the modesty panel with beading or lace. However, she also made an important point: after four decades in the industry, she has learned that stylists aren't seamstresses, and what a stylist believes will be an "easy fix" isn't always what they imagine. She said she could take a look, pin the dress, and determine how much everything shifts--but that the cups will definitely shift, and the question is simply how far. Hearing that has significantly increased my anxiety. What should have been an exciting experience of finding my wedding dress has instead left me questioning whether the alterations I specifically discussed before purchasing are actually achievable. I understand that stylists may not be professional seamstresses and that alterations ultimately need to be assessed by someone qualified to perform them. My frustration is that I was making my purchase based on specific assurances about something that was extremely important to me, only to discover after payment that I would have to independently find someone who could determine whether those changes were even possible. At this point, I can't help but feel that I was given enough reassurance to feel comfortable making the purchase, only to be left with the uncertainty afterward. That has made the entire experience feel less like I was being helped find the right dress and more like I was being reassured just enough to secure the sale. I truly wish the process had been more transparent from the beginning. If I had been clearly told before paying that Brilliant Bridal does not handle alterations and that the changes I envisioned were not guaranteed to be possible, I could have made a much more informed decision. Instead, I'm now left with a wedding dress, a no-return policy I only discovered afterward, and significant anxiety about whether the dress I purchased can actually be altered into what I was told was possible.

After my initial consultation I was assured I could make changes closer to time if the pandemic continued to be a problem, Nicole's words were "you have us on retainer once you make your deposit". That was not honored at all. I tried to pick a new date and was told that although they didn't have a wedding scheduled, they were saving it for new clients, so I had to rebook all of my vendors based around what Nicole was willing to allow. My guest list decreased by half, my seating changed, I gave Nicole a heads up 2 months in advance via call, text and email outlining the changes as well as a reminder of my allergies to certain flowers. I should have known it was going to go poorly when she said "I didn't read the email" then proceeded to have a panic attack about sourcing flowers for her other weddings. After that call I had a very difficult time getting ahold of her. I had to have her rework the contract like 5 times and each time it was more and more money, although I kept asking for less. She almost doubled the total, and arrived the day of the wedding completely frazzled with flowers I'm allergic to, a mountain of greenery, and a ton of dead, crunchy flowers. I understand some flowers spending quickly, but nearly half of them were dead and she didn't even replace them, just removed them and put the arrangements out with huge holes in them. My bouquet and headpiece needed to be remade as they were almost entirely made with flowers I can't have on my skin. Nearly none of the updates were honored, none size specifications were considered, and she didn't complete the installation I asked for, and I had to direct her team to just "put flowers everywhere" because none of the arrangements made sense with the new layout. The flowers used continued to deteriorate after they were placed, and by the time my guests arrived most of them were wilted. My flowers ended up being most of my wedding budget and it looked like I got them from a grocery store and arranged them myself. I know the floral industry is getting hit hard by the pandemic, I know times are turbulent for everyone, but I literally asked for the easiest flowers. I asked for things that were in season, local if possible, and not white. I asked the team to have fun with the arrangements. I asked them to include fruits. Like... easy. I couldn't be more disappointed.

I remembered watching the Oscars this year and seeing Chris Hemsworth in an open-collar tuxedo that looked fantastic. I researched who he was wearing and found out it was a Tom Ford tuxedo, costing several thousand dollars. I considered buying this tuxedo but quickly dismissed the idea as irrational. So, I began looking up tuxedo rentals and found Celebrity Tux and Tails in Peoria. This was a convenient location for me since I live not too far away, near the 303 freeway. I checked their website and found a lot of good information and sample tuxedos that appealed to me. They recommended making the initial fitting appointment eight weeks in advance, which I did. I wasn't sure why they suggested such a long lead time, but it turns out they do custom tailoring for tuxedo rentals. I had never heard of tailoring a rental before and was pleasantly surprised. When I arrived for my appointment, I was professionally greeted, and we got right down to business. I showed the employee the picture of the tuxedo I wanted to recreate, and she quickly directed me to a style very close to the Tom Ford example I wanted. I immediately said yes. She took my measurements, and I tried on the jacket and pants of the style I wanted. I brought in my own shoes, which she factored into the tailoring. I told her the date I needed the tuxedo by, left a reasonable deposit, and was on my way. I inquired about possibly buying the tuxedo and was quoted a surprisingly reasonable price. I ultimately decided to rent this time. Several weeks later, I arrived to pick up my tuxedo at the pre-scheduled time and pay my rental balance. I tried it on, and the gentleman who assisted me made sure everything was perfect, including pre-configuring everything so all I had to do was remove the tuxedo from the garment bag and put it on. It literally took less than five minutes to get dressed for the wedding. I enjoyed the wedding in comfort and style and returned the tuxedo on the pre-scheduled return date without any issues. When I dropped it off, the employee quickly inspected the tuxedo, and I was on my way. Throughout the process, I was kept informed through text messages, which were very convenient reminders. My whole tuxedo rental experience with Celebrity Tux and Tails exceeded my wildest expectations. I will always use them in the future for my black-tie events, and I highly recommend you do too!
