A short 10 minute drive up through the hills from Golden, and I was happy to take the drive. I was unaware that Genesee Pub and BBQ is a new establishment in the little town of Genesee. However, I found out it already has a good local following. I walked in and was immediately greeted, and I chose to sit at the bar. The bartender/waitress was nice and friendly. She immediately introduced herself, and provided me a draft IPA. I had time to look over the simple, choice filled menu. I chose to eat a platter of pork and beef brisket with waffle fries and baked beans. It didn't take long for the food to come, and it was a pile of food. I am usually a fat boy and can throw down some food, but this platter conquered me. the brisket was smoked perfectly. It was juicy not dry, and it had just the right amount of bbq sauce (not overwhelming, which I prefer). I ate a mountain of food, and had two O'dell IPAs for $22 bucks! I was a happy man! The locals seemed to enjoy the spot, and they said they hope the new business is there to stay. I hope so, to so that I return when I visit Golden/Denver again! read more

We had an awesome time here last night. The food was outstanding and there was a band called Twice on Sunday playing great music! The restaurant has been redone inside and out, they have a great patio with the biggest umbrellas I have ever seen to provide shelter from weather. When it got chilly they turned on the fire pit and put up the umbrellas and it warmed us up nicely! The food was wonderful! I had the half rack of ribs with baked beans and potato salad. The beans were so tasty, I'm honestly craving them today! The ribs were tender and well seasoned. My husband had the prime rib dipper, he loved it! It was so tender and juicy, we will definitely be back! The live music was awesome! Highly recommend heading over for apps and drinks when they have mucus again! The only thing I wish there was more of was a local beer selection. I know we're spoiled in Colorado with all the amazing breweries we have I just wish they had a bit more on the menu! read more

If you're handicapped, expect the owners to" not give a crap! You only need to go there once and you'll see. No one making sure wheel chairs or walkers can move around. Blocked handicapped parking with their vehicles. Tables and chairs blocking the bathrooms and their own employees blocking the bathroom when it obvious you are handicapped, are using a handicapped apparatus and they ignore you. I really wanted to enjoy the food. Had a very long day, didn't feel like cooking, and was starving, and my husband got a sandwich here last week and said it was really good, so I decided to give it a shot. I got the Devine Swine sandwich, the pork belly was so overwhelming dry and tough it was inedible. The apples on the sandwich were very good and the coleslaw was some of the best I've had. Also wanted to try the strawberry shortcake, something I love. I expected the cake to be light and fluffy, but it was dense and dry, so ungodly dry. It tasted like a dense dry cornbread consistency but tasted like cardboard instead of a light, fluffy and sweet cake. So at the end, the pork belly and the cake went in the trash and I paid $32 bucks for a bun, 2oz of apples and 4 oz of slaw... and still hungry, very sad. read more

We have lived in Evergreen for 6 years, and never knew this place was here. The lack of delicious food in our area is so disappointing, so my expectations were not high. I cannot begin to explain how happy we were when we left here. First, the owners and staff were amazing (Bobby you nailed our service), and the ambiance and food are top notch. Had an awesome lunch at Genesee Pub and BBQ! We were looking for a place to eat after touring Red Rock Amphitheater, and this place is just down the road. It was an early spring day with a bit of snow on the ground, we sat outside by the fire and heaters and were quite comfortable. What an awesome space they have here! Indoor/Outdoor, looks like the glass "walls" can be opened completely in the summer. The food was outstanding. I had baby back ribs, bbq chicken and brisket combo, with coleslaw and onion rings for $21.99. I think that's very fair price, I took half of the meat home for later. The coleslaw is out of this world, I sure wish I could get the recipe. The owner is attentive and a really nice guy. Highly recommended! read more

Made a destination for birthday for 8 at 1100 for Brunch. Arrived on time table not ready. Took available table on patio; 3 of 5 space heaters had no propane and that's the beginning. Paper menus were legible, but dirty. Order taking was uneven taking on anyone at the table without customary order circle, which caused several people to speak at once. Took server 2-3 times to take and generate one order on tablet. Then the service was chaotic at best 1) food cold, 2) orders incomplete, 3) asked for several requested items more than once, 4) one in party didn't receive toast and jelly [per menu] asked for it, toast came 15 minutes later without jelly, then 5 minutes later jelly came. Green Chile had great texture, just no flavor (or bite). Hand cut fries not done. The club sandwich beef was cooked with a flashlight, but other meat was good. The only thing that went well was receiving and paying tab. I was told I tipped too much (25%), which I did but...we could have left at the beginning. Will probably go to the pizza place and liquor store next time. read more

Comes with standard bbq sauce but they have others and I recommend trying them, I liked their Carolina best but I think it was more like Georgia mustard than Carolina but I am no expert. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!! From chowder and burnt ends to gumbo and ribs ... there's something for everyone. The food was so delicious. This place has really gotten better since it opened. Yesterday we ordered take out because of COVID. The restaurant is running a smooth operation; you pay over the phone and they ask what car you are driving then bring it curbside to your car. I love that they used recycled and 100% recyclable to-go containers and bags. NO plastic or styrofoam. Strawberry Salad was really fresh and delicious Bison burger my husband said was perfectly cooked and not greasy The veggie burger with avocado, there is no description on the website and I was pleasantly surprised that it was really good not some frozen garden burger. I will definitely be back! I hope the business makes it through this pandemic so we can eat at the restaurant when it is safe again. read more

What a hidden gem! Found this place on Yelp while looking for a dog-friendly restaurant after hiking. It looks like a hole in the wall in a strip mall, but the patio backs up to a gorgeous tree-lined area. Food is great and Heather was fabulous as our server. Sitting a mere five minutes up I-70 from Golden is one fine BBQ restaurant. Based on good reviews I drove 40 minutes with my kids. I was not disappointed. No trouble finding a table at 7:30 on a Saturday night. There was a nice guitarist playing Neil Young, John Denver and Elton John tunes to set the mood. We felt very far from Denver and in the real Colorado. We had a lots of BBQ. Everything was delicious. Better wings and ribs can not be had. Yum. Great food, service drinks and atmosphere. A great destination restaurant. Bring a few extra dollars for the kids at the general store next door. read more

Wow this place was really good. Dine in is currently closed so we sat on the patio. The had plenty of heaters but the snow and cold made it hard to stay very warm. The staff was very attentive to our needs and kept the heaters near and running. The restaurant is off the beaten path so probably would not have found it without reading some great reviews. A delight. Very happy with the food, portion, and service for the value. I've been here three times now, at lunch and dinner. I really enjoy the prime rib dinner, though I've had the BBQ sandwich meal with baked beans as well, which is what my husband ordered. So enjoyable to have this in a Genesee so close to home but I would come here anyway even if it were a drive. Tonight David Booker was playing - guitar and wonderful vocals. I was there with our young children and it wasn't too loud. The chicken tenders as an app makes a great kids meal and skips the fries. Water is filtered. Soooo yummy! Probs one of the best bbq places I've been to. I think the prices are a bit high, but the food is delicious! We did the 'loaded nachos' as an app, which are made with their waffle fries.... AMAZING! I got the salad with pulled chicken, priced too high but you could tell the dressing was homemade... yum!
