So we came in during lunch time and the place was busy. A waitress (Chelsea) greeted us and sat us at our table, stating who our waiter was. Well that guy ignored us to the point we were about to walk out. Chelsea looked over and saw that we weren't being taken care of and took our order. Chelsea was dealing with the to-go orders and tending to her other tables, so for her to take on our table was impressive. Not sure if she was the manager. Food was good as usual but I'm taking off a couple stars because the first waiter not tending to us and it took way too long to get our food. read more

Normally, I love this place. I've been coming here since it opened! However this Friday night, after getting off work, I walk in at 9:11 pm and ask if they're closed. In a very unprofessional manner this shaggy guy who appeared to be one of the employees, who is sitting at the bar eating, who I would later find out that his name is Jesus and he's off the clock, he speaks over everyone and says, "..Yes! Yes we are closed..." The greeter says, "...no, we aren't!" I'm pissed... I get to the bar and I ask if this guy works here and they said yes. The guy said, it was a joke... Though the manager apologized, I explained to her that this was very unprofessional and I really didn't appreciate this level of satire in a place that serves my food. It was childish! First time at Genghis Grill but not the last! We visited the grill and did not know what to expect. Our waitress was so informative and gave us the instructions on how their unique concept works. After we gathered the information we headed to the food bar to mAke our bowls of meats and veggies and sauces and spices. What a choice they had! After seeing our food being grilled we ate our delicious bowls of yumminess! What a cool concept and great atmosphere and service. The only thing that I would like to see is the prices were a bit high fior the bowls and drinks so if they were lower I would give the review a higher score. read more

What in the world happened to our beloved Genghis Grill? Once upon a time, you were a convenient and somewhat healthy alternative in between shopping stops. But then, today happened. Granted, it's been awhile since we've seen you. Maybe you're under new management... Although, typically that's a good sign. Let's run down the list of cons here: 1) Upon entering, your host was absent. We waited until someone else entered behind us, prompting the door to ring, and one of your employees peeked out from behind the wall giving us an "oh s**t" look before running out and seating us. 2) Your new table computers. At first I was impressed by the neat techy upgrade, but then as we were waiting, we played a game and were charged for it! No mention of cost anywhere. 3) Email deals: the reason we chose you over other eateries in the first place. In the past, we'd been able to show the email deal on our phones and call it a day. Now, apparently your manager will come and find you in line while you're balancing a food bowl, a sauce bowl, and any personal items, and ask to not only see the coupon, but have you email it to him because "you need to print it out." (Even though it doesn't say that anywhere.) 4) I think the "my bad" count from our waiter probably hit 6 during our dine-in time. Should've told us about the game cost. Should've told us about the new cards to give the cooks. Shoulda woulda coulda. Instead of being proactive to fix it? "My bad." 5) There's a fine line between the food being delightfully crispy and inedibly charred. Unfortunately, you crossed that line today. I can't tell you how many times my hubs has talked up Genghis Grill and vied for your establishment as our top dinner option. Today, we both left disappointed. And even though he has a free bowl remaining on his rewards card, I told him he'd have to offer a major bribe to get me to return. You have two bowl options: small or large and are then handed your metal bowl. The fun part is filling it with whatever (and however much) meat, veggies, sauces, and seasonings that you want. You have full creativity in your dish! You then take your bowl to the cooks at the large community wok, and request your starch (white rice, fried rice, or lo mein noodles) and return to your table. A few minutes later, you're handing your piping hot entree. We have been several times, and I always enjoyed my food. The wait staff is hard to get ahold of however, as others have stated. read more

Food once it was cooked was good Odd business model. The concern I have is the raw meats laying out. It also takes a really long time to get your food cooked. Don't go if your in a hurry. Hello, my name is Misty, and I'm addicted to Genghis Grill. I'm a fan of mongolian bbq to start with, so when we found this spot, it was a no brainer that I had to try it out. We loved it so much, we went two nights in a row! It's fresh, you can choice whatever you'd like, and it's not horribly expensive, and when you're traveling a lot, it's a far better choice than most places. The only down side is that it's pretty slow even when it's not busy. I will say, I've lucked out and gotten Luke as my server a few times, and he's on the ball and very professional! As a bonus, he's looks like a young Blake Shelton. Try it out! Just be sure you have a little time to enjoy it. I'm already looking for an excuse to go back. read more

We got our regular size bowls and jammed it full of chicken, onions, mushrooms, spinach, bean sprouts, squash, zucchini, jalapeños, and spices. Man this was disappointing! I have loved this place or at least the one in Franklin. The first thing you notice when you walk in the front door is the strong seafood smell mixed with a high school gym locker room. Once you get your bowl you stand in line and grab a tray to put your bowl on "Don't use the trays the have food still on it from previous person." You will go through the food line and see a few flies around the food containers. If your lucky like us you will see the bartender/waitress wiping down countertop with a towel then without washing hands cutting up lemons for your sweet tea thats awful tasting to begin with. Anyways the moral of this story is the experience was terrible and the only reason I gave two stars instead of one is because the food is great if you still have an appetite. read more

You don't want to go during their peak hours, just because they always have someone new, my bowl gets over cooked every time I go there during their busy hours. I tend to get my choice of starch/cabbage on the side plus two eggs, just so I can get my money's worth. Tons of flavor and condiments. Great food! You kind of cook your own dish, I was left wondering what it'd taste like once it comes out. The food tasted good because it was grilled really well. The variety is fantastic! They put in thoughtful battle plan cards for those that may not have an understanding of Asian dishes.The fishbowl margarita was awesome too. Waitress was really helpful and so was the chef. It does need some attention in the hygiene department though. The tongs used for raw meats were wet and there was meat juice all over the counter. I wish there was better separation between meats and condiments areas. Also, wife said the women's restroom had blood on the toilet seat. I would suggest that the business owner keep up the good work in the food department and invest a little more manpower in the hygiene department. read more

Stopped in for a late lunch at around 3pm on a Sat. We were seated fairly quickly but the server didn't come around for about 15 mins. After placing our order, I proceeded to mix my bowl and sat down. I heard the cooks yelling 'bowl' multiple times signaling to the servers food was up. The staff just walked by without delivering the food. After 30 mins of waiting for my food they brought me a bowl that was clearly not mine. Then the asked what I ordered. I repeated mine and my daughters order to three different people. Then someone comes with a notepad and asked again what we had to eat. We waited 45+ mins for food and finally left after being extremely frustrated. I have worked in hospitality for years and never experienced anything like this. The staff said they had half of their employees call out today. There are other solutions like calling people in that want to work or they could have put people on a wait if they couldn't accommodate the numbers wanting to eat. I ordered through Uber Eats and my food arrived cold with a 30 minute delay after paying for priority delivery. I ordered a large meal and the food barely covered half the container. I would say it was a medium meal order at best. Would not recommend them if you can avoid it. read more

It's a challenge everytime I go - - just to see exactly how much I can cram into that little bowl! Now, if you approach it strategically, you can come away with the perfect meal. It's kinda like packing your suitcase for a trip, knowing you can only take one bag. You don't just start throwing clothes into a suitcase and hope it closes, so don't just start throwing things in bowl - you have to plan - you have to pack. What if there is a line out the door behind you - take your time - this is about to get real. Now, seafood, while more expensive, it's textural consistency will allow for easier compression and should actually be placed in the bottom of the bowl. It will compress more than say chicken or steak. If you are planning on the trifecta of stir fry (shrimp, chicken and steak) the steak should be next. Keep reading and you will understand why. If you notice the steak is usually sliced, but a lot of times there is connective tissue that holds two or three pieces together - forget that. Select individual pieces so you can LAYER the steak across the top of the shrimp - preferably a single layer, but if you want to protein up - add another layer. Press down on the steak to further compress the shrimp and fill up any air pockets. Final protein layer - the chicken. Chicken is almost always stored wet and inherently sticky to a degree, so it will cling to the veggies you are about to pile on. Start with the thin or thinly sliced ones at first. Bean sprouts make a good starting layer. Now, remember, they are in the business of making money, so they don't always organize them in a way that would be beneficial for you, the customer, nor do they slice them in a manner necessary to permit excessive layering. Smaller stacks = bigger profits. You may be required to "go back" and add something you skipped earlier to complete your bowl. Save the onions for last - sometimes they are in complete circles and "loop" around other veggies, much like the game ring-toss. Now if some happens to fall out of the bowl - the 5 second rule does not apply - go back and get some more. Push the kid out of the way - you were here first... Seriously, the food is fresh and it really is up to you as to what you come away with. They also have suggested combinations if you don't trust yourself... read more

Was refused service! I have a valid medical exception for not wearing a mask, when I walked in with my girlfriend (who was wearing a mask) we were told that they don't recognize any exceptions. When I pointed out to the manager how many other people in the restaurant weren't wearing a mask, he said it didn't matter. I was willing to just sit at my table and allow my girlfriend to get our food, but the manager wouldn't allow it. So if you have a medical exception, eat elsewhere because Genghis Grill will turn you away. read more

If they gonna up charge on everything and reduce the portions, they could at least have they things they claim to sell. How am I still paying outrageous prices (over fifteen doll hairs for a regular size bowl), but they are all out of everything. No more Salmon, no more vegan options, no more raspberry sprite, etc. Also, if I order an appetizer, it shouldn't come out the same time as my meal. Plus the bowl my waitress gave me had food still on it (not mine) they really could use an overhaul. Leather bench seats are cracked up, paint chipping off the walls, flies in the food area and they closed the outside section off so I couldn't really enjoy the sunset like I wanted to. Ordered 4 small meals to go online. All meals were a different amount and the food was burnt charcoal black not edible. Took the food back for a refund and was told because the food was purchased online it had to be processed by the manager who was not at the store. The person in charge called the manager and said they would credit the charge but it would take 3-4 days but it never happened. My daughter who was visiting from CA paid and when I checked back with her 2 weeks later she forgot about it and then checked her statement and they didn't credit her. She had to go through her bank card to be reimbursed. I'll never go to another Genghis Grill again and never recommend them to anyone!!!!!! They just opened the place and I saw the grill they were cooking on and it looked like it was 20 years old and had never been cleaned. Asian chefs are very clean and clean their grills after every order and have anyone who cooks for them do the same. If I were a walk-in I would have walked-out seeing that grill! read more

I've enjoyed Genghis Grill in the past, but it seems that they've gone downhill lately. My brother and I decided to have a late lunch/early dinner there today and were extremely disappointed with our experience. They were not busy and seemed to have plenty of employees working, however, we were completely forgotten after we were brought our bowls. We both ordered water to drink and after watching several other tables who were seated after us get their drinks, we flagged down another server (because we couldn't find ours) and told her we never received our waters. She tracked down our server and told her to get our drinks and she continued bringing refills and food to her tables. Finally, our server came back to our table with our waters and admitted that she'd forgotten about us. No big deal... other than the fact that she continued to forget about us. Other tables that got there later than us got their food before us. I drank my water and sat there with an empty cup, waiting for a refill. A different employee brought us our food, which was wayyy overcooked! We had burnt meat and vegetables. We finally got refills on our waters after I had already finished eating. She never cleared the bowls from our table after we were finished. She brought the bill without asking if we wanted it split. It took another 20 mins or so to have her split it. We still tipped her about 10-15%, but I hope that she realizes how awful the service was that we received. I realize that everyone has a bad day here and there, so I will still come back, but it certainly won't be soon. read more
