So back a long time ago, I used to live down on this side of Nashville. Lenox Village was practically brand new and I would frequent this restaurant when I was craving Chinese. Chinese takeout isn't as popular as it once was, but every now and then I'll feel nostalgic for those days when Chinese buffets were abundant. Since I was meeting my hockey team for brews in the early afternoon, I didn't want to drink on an empty stomach. I wanted something tasty but fast (but not fast food). This place is just as I remember it. Like all Chinese takeout restaurants, you had faded pictures of Chinese food from decades ago, a paper menu, makeshift storage in the dining area, etc. Complete with the man and husband bickering in the kitchen and the kids there working the front, taking your order. I had to chuckle because it was like I went through a time warp and it's funny to see things never change (being Asian, I too had to work at my dad's store as a kid). I ordered my go-to every time I come to a place like this. Hot and sour soup and General Tso's chicken. The food was as it always was, consistent and delicious. The hot and sour soup was warm, slightly spicy, and not too sour. It had a nice balance of soup and vegetables/tofu. The General Tso's was piping hot, crispy without too much breading and slathered in that tangy, sweet sauce. The fried rice was good too, actually with bits of veggies and meat (although I don't know what the meat is). It definitely hit the spot and it's not always that I go to places like these. But nevertheless, the mind (and stomach) craves what it craves and I'm glad I got to pay this establishment a visit again. read more

We live close to here and order takeout from here. The crab rangoons and the steamed dumplings are very good. I normally get the wonton eggdrop soup and its always good. We've tried the kung pao chicken, general tso chicken, and fried rice and they are all good for Chinese takeout! They are super fast too - we can normally pickup in 10-15 minutes. read more

Honestly the worst chicken fried rice I've ever had. It's literally just yellow rice with something that resembles chicken, possibly chicken from a can. Only giving one star because the crab rangoon was good, basically no crab but the cream cheese and wonton were not bad. read more

Decent take out. I got shrimp lo mein and beef egg foo young. The shrimp lo mein tasted good but most of the other ingredients were at the top of the container, not evenly distributed. The sauce for the egg foo young was thicker than I expected, still good tho. read more

Have ordered here for a few years based on convenience and while the girl or woman is never friendly on the phone our order has been wrong or "misentered" 4 times with always a response that we ordered wrong or got our order. The food is not beyond or above other options in the area and so it's our groups last attempt to waste money getting not just the wrong order but an attitude when being kind mentioning errors. If they don't want to be kind and keep customers why continue. read more

I've gotten take out 4-5 times here and nothing has been bad - it's your typical to-go Chinese. I've had the lomein most often and chicken fried rice once. I'm not a fan of yellow fried rice and this is another place in Nashville with yellow fried rice (and not much chicken). The lomein is solid. And although they give you a ton of food it could use some more chicken as well. Their hot & sour soup is very good but disappointed in their wanton strips. They were old and stale and not the kind we all love. Egg rolls are good but heavy. Overall it's a solid Chinese spot with good reliable service and consistent food. If they say ten minutes it's probably more like 5. They're fast! read more

I was weary to try this place after seeing the reviews and some of the photos so I just got a wonton soup and egg roll to play it safe. It's so good! Chinese takeout has always been one of my favorite meals for as long as I can remember, and if you're lucky enough to find a place like No. 1 Chinese at Lennox Village you've hit the culinary jackpot! Today we received our second Grub Hub delivery order from this restaurant and it was delicious! It's obvious that these folks are experts in Chinese takeout as soon as you see your package of food. The first thing you'll notice is the sheer weight of your order. You're getting a tremendous amount of food for your money, and nobody's going away hungry. They seem to pack the food in a way that retains heat. I had a hard time pulling the sauces out of the bag because the food was so hot. This is a good thing! All of the food is very high quality, and you'll notice that things like Crab Rangoons and egg rolls are delivered crunchy. The menu is diverse, and they offer package deals which include a nice combination of food items and a huge choice of entrees. Today I enjoyed Schezuan Beef, and the beef was unbelievably tender and tasty! The Pork Lo Mein was also delicious, and my wife loved the General Tso's chicken. We both were stuffed to the gills with the family deal we ordered, and still have plenty of food for leftovers. I'm looking forward to trying some different entrees next time around, and I know I won't be disappointed. No. 1 Chinese at Lennox Village has certainly lived up to their name! read more

My husband and I got takeout and it was fantastic! We went in around 8PM on a Friday night and ordered, they said it would be about 10-15 min, and it was done at the promised time of 10 minutes. He ordered the Sweet and Sour Chicken and I got the General TSO Chicken, as well as the dumplings appetizer. They were all very big portions, his chicken was perfectly crispy and mine had the perfect amount of sauce and crisp as well we will absolutely be back! Wow, a pleasant surprise! Ordered delivery from them , we ordered shrimp with lobster sauce and general tao. Both were extremely good and the crab rangoon was crispy and loaded with sweet cream cheese and crab, a very nice dinner delivered right to our door. Might have to go visit this place, I was pretty impressed, food arrived hot, very sweet delivery girl, couldn't have been more pleased with our experience and that was on a Friday night so I know they were busy, food arrived hot and tasty in about 45 minutes from order time. We ordered through Grub Hub. One item was missing (we did end up getting a refund for that) and the "chow mein" was like nothing I have ever seen. It was almost unrecognizable. It had large slices of onion, carrot (?), maybe cabbage (I can't be sure), and something that could have been chicken (it may have been tofu. It was about an inch long and looked like it had been pushed out of a caulking tube. It was tasteless). The sauce that it was in was a opaque, gelatinous goo that saw somewhere between the consistency of snot and cheap pecan pie filling. I just assumed we got the wrong thing because chow mein typically includes thick noodles. They said that was their chow mein and that they would not offer a refund. We will not be returning. This has been a great find for a quick bite to eat. This is a family run business that has very good food, and very quick service when needed. I enjoy the family dynamic of this place as it seems to be the kids and parents all involved. The daughters are so wonderful and could run that place on their own. Outside of the way it's run, the food is good. The lemon chicken is amazing. All in al, it's really just a normal Chinese take out that is similar to all the others, But this one struck a cord with me in its feel. Thought we would give this place a shot since our normal Chinese Rest. was closed. Boy, was that a mistake. If I had not had been so hungry, I would not have eaten any of this. I'm not sure how you can make an egg roll that has no flavor, but they managed. I ordered Gen. Tso's chicken. The chicken was dark processed "meat"? Our usual Chinese restaurant's Gen Tso's is all white meat and tastes, and looks so much better. The sauce was decent tasting, but was coagulating and too thick. My wife ordered cashew chicken. It was comprised of the same dark, tendony (is that a word?) processed chicken and mostly celery. Also ordered some shrimp fried rice. It seemed to have a "fake" shrimp flavor to it. The price here was as much or more than where we usually order. Will not be eating from their again....no left overs, just garbage. Yuck! read more
